High Quality ALA Supplement by Reputable Lab!
This is a high quality ALA supplement by a reputable lab. That last part is extremely important, especially here on Amazon, as ordering supplements online can often be hit or miss. In fact, I would consider it of paramount importance, before any other criterion, as trust is critical when evaluating whether or not you should put something into your body. Of course I am not a medical professional and as such I do make any claims regarding the efficacy of the product. However, subjectively there were many good points that I noticed right off the bat – the lab is located in the US, the supplements are GMP certified, and they are third party lab tested, which I consider the gold standard for quality. The pills were extremely fresh when opened, and everything about the product seemed to have the sheen of quality. I’ve been taking these for about a week now, and I did find that they can be a little hard on the stomach, which I’ve found lessened if I take them with a meal. I did notice that they make my urine smell strong…but that gives me the sense it is working, lol. I have eczema, and while I can’t say whether or not these have helped toward calming or healing my skin, I do get the sense that it is a high quality brand of ALA. The pills are standard capsule size. Recommended!

Top Quality, Lab Tested ALA
This is a top quality ALA supplement.- Capsules are easy to swallow- No odd aftertaste or ill effects- Price/Value is excellent- Label has GMP stamp and claims 3rd party lab tested (however I haven’t seen a finished product COA yet)- This brand however, has an excellent track record of passing 3rd party lab testing for other productsI haven’t had any problem taking these, and feel this is a great quality brand. I trust their products, and this ALA is one of my go to choices. Definitely recommended.

I use supplements to help close the gap between modern nutrition levels in our food and the levels that were there when I was young. But, in my opinion, the supplement industry has both some of the highest integrity companies and some of the lowest. So I try to give a detailed enough review to help you know the company and product better, so you can determine for yourself whether or not you want to try this one out.This bottle comes about half full, which is one of my pet peeves with many supplement companies. I would prefer they put in more capsules and/or use a smaller bottle.If used as directed it will last 1-2 months.The expiration date on mine is Sep 2027.The capsules have a very light scent that is reminiscent to me of sulfur. They are easy to swallow with water.I like my supplements to say organic, non-GMO, GMP-certified, 3rd-party tested, and made in the USA. These say 3rd-party tested, GMP-certified, and USA manufactured.I look into the supplement companies I use because I’ve come across so many questionable ones. ProHealth puts their phone number on the bottle as well as an international number. The product information page says they have been operating since 1988 and there is analytical test report in the pictures. Their ProHealth site is both functional and informative. They not only have customer service, but a chat feature on their site with “longevity experts” who you can chat with about your supplement questions and needs. The bios of their medical advisors are also on the site. There is too much to list, you need to check out the site.I seem to take longer than most to see results when starting a new supplement but like ALA, and the lack of many fillers and flow agents which a lot of companies say they need to use, while the manufacturers of the highest-quality supplements I am aware of refuse to.Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful.

Lower dosage amount and higher price point means this one isn’t for me.
I take Alpha lipoic acid for a pinched nerve in my back. ALA has shown through research that it can help with nerve pain. Yes the studies were done moreso with diabetics but I am not in any way diabetic at all. It was recommended to me by my naturopathic doctor. On his recommendation I take it two times a day…morning and night. I have the brands I like and that work for me but I also like to try other brands to see if I notice it working better. When I saw this ALA from PROHEALTH I decided to give this brand a try.Bottle comes with 60 capsules with a recommended dose of 1 per day so this is a two month supply.Bottom of the bottle is stamped with lot # and expiration date 11/2027.Capsules are of average size. I have no issues with capsules and found these very easy to swallow.I have used and tried several PROHEALTH supplements in the past and have no issues with this brand at all. I like the fact that this company has a website. A vast majority do not. Also in the win column…This supplement is third party tested, has their COAs and uses GMP. ALL things I want in a supplement. Matter of fact I refuse to take any supplement that cannot be verifiably third party tested so I am assured of accurate dosing amounts and it’s free from impurities such as mold or heavy metals.I want to mention that ALA is made up of equal parts R-ALA and S-ALA the S at the beginning of the S-ALA stands for synthetic. The R-ALA is what your body uses and absorbs better. So some brands will denote on their supplement facts R-ALA and S-ALA while some will strictly say ALA. You can order R-ALA which some say helps more with the nerve end of things BUT if you research many times getting strictly R-ALA is far more expensive than dosing with basic ALA and calibrating the dose you need knowing whatever the dosage amount is that half of it will be R-ALA. And while not denoted on this bottle it is going to be 250mgs of R-ALA and 250 mgs of S-ALA….. So IF you have been taking 500mgs of R-ALA and take this you are getting half the amount of R-ALA in this supplement. <<<<-----Does this clear anything up or is it clear as mud lol?I am not going to mention the dosing amounts I use. I will say that this is 500mgs in a single capsule whereas the supplements I use have a higher dosage amount.I did try this for several days and as expected I had zero side effects. That being said I will not be finishing or reordering this due to the lower per capsule dosing. I just did not find it to be as effective as my other brand. This is also to the high side price wise. The ALA I take is purchased right here on amazon, is third party tested and half the price for a higher dosage.I do not think this is a bad supplement or a bad company. It's just not the right one for me. YMMV. Based on the lower dosage amount and the price this earns fours stars.

Not relieving my pain like most R-ALA
I usually love ProHealth supplements so I’m a bit surprised that this one doesn’t say whether its R-ALA or the less expensive L-ALA or a combination. I have used ALA before for pain relief, especially in the winter months, but I find that only the R-ALA is effective for me.This one may promotoe metabolism and younger-looking skin as advertised, but I’m not seeing the pain relief I usually get from R-ALA, which is the main reason I take it.The capsule is on the larger side of average but still not too difficult to take. The bottle has a slight chemically smell to it but there is no real taste or after taste to me.The bottle I received in June 2026 expires in November 2027. I will continue to take the remainder of the bottle and will update the score if I see eventual pain relief but so far I’m a bit disappointed.
