There are enough inconstancies with Piping Rock products to make me uneasy about using this product.To start, there are no NSF, USP, GMP or cGMP stamps to be found on the bottle I received. These Stamps on supplement bottles indicate quality control, third-party testing, and manufacturing standards. Since dietary supplements are not pre-approved by the FDA, looking for specific, verifiable quality seals helps guarantee what is on the label is exactly what is in the bottle.This made me do some digging before considering this brand.Piping Rock claims to use third-party, FDA-registered agencies to verify its products for purity and potency. However, I could not find any reference to specific independent certifications (such as NSF or USP) for this product line. And all I can find on their website is mention of in-house first party testing.Piping Rock has only been in business since 2011. They claim 45 years of manufacturing. From there website – “While the Piping Rock brand specifically began in 2011, the family has a legacy in the vitamin industry spanning over 50 years and three generation.” Which is it then? 15 years in business does not equate to 45 years of manufacturing no matter how you spin it.The company website speaks of NSF, cGMP, and USP as well as saying they are third party verified. But none of these guaranteed symbols are on the label. Nor are there any links that I can find to verify these claims.Bottom line for me – I will stick with brands that publish their third-party testing and display awarded certifications on their bottles.

Piping Rock brand Omegas plus CoQ10
I like the concept of combining my omega 3 supplement with a dose of CoQ-10 since it means less capsules to swallow.However, I’m a little concerned about these making claims that aren’t backed up in the labeling. These claim to be GMO free, lab tested (note does not say 3rd party) and made using in. GMP laboratory but there are none of the accustomed seals on the package.Because of this lack I’m not comfortable ingesting them so I can’t comment on their ease of use or whether they have a fishy aftertaste . They do seem to be o average sized gel caps that appear as though they’d be easy to swallow.

Seems good; no fish burbs
I regularly take a fish oil supplement. Can’t say that I’ve ever felt anything specific from it and I haven’t felt anything specific from this one either. Pills are fairly sizable, though not as large as my regular fish oil supplement. Serving size is 2.I was concerned that I’d have fish burbs, as these are immediate release. I usually buy enteric coated fish oil, since the fish burbs aren’t pleasant. Perhaps these are more highly refined than non-enteric coated fish oils that I’ve tried in the past, since I don’t have any fish burbs with these. In fact, I was concerned that they might not be legit, so I cracked one open. The contents do have a vaguely fishy smell, but it also comes across a bit chemically. The contents are also kind of a cloudy yellow (pictured on the left), as compared to regular fish oil (pictured on the right). I expect that the color is due to the CoQ.Price isn’t out of line for a product like this. The pill size makes them pretty easy to take. And, there’s no off flavors. Seems like a win.That all being said, I do have some concerns about the product and the company. Adulteration is a problem in the fish oil industry and there are certifications that one can look for. This product has none. Thought I’d poke around some to learn more about the company. The web address for the company has existed since 1998, but other than a single archive in 2010 that is blank, it hasn’t been crawled since 2008, when it appears to have been a company focused on supplying bottled water the the area around New York, Long Island, and Connecticut. That said, their trademark filings in the supplement space do go back to 2011, around when the archives for the web address vanish, so it may just be that they bought out the web address of another company with that name and set up a new site that asks not to be archived. Anyway, my concerns remain, but aren’t quite large enough to knock anything off. Just buyer beware and make your own judgment calls.
