Not vegetarian
It’s my fault, I know, for not looking closely at all the photos on the Optimal Health Systems EFA webpage. Had I done so, I would have seen that the third photos, of three, states that the product contains gelatin. This is makes it both non-vegetarian and, in all likelihood, not kosher. On the other hand, all the other information presented strongly implies that it is vegetarian: “plant-based fats”; “vegetable sourced”; etc.Accordingly, my three star rating is my attempt at neutrality regarding the quality of the product itself. Other reviews suggest that, for people for whom vegetarian/non-vegetarian isn’t an issue, it’s a worthwhile alternative to fish-based products.

Seem pretty good so far… if a bit pricey.
So far, this algae and plant-sourced essential fatty acid supplement seems pretty good. I know that a lot of other folks take this instead of a fish-based supplement. I’m not a vegan, but I do like to change things up, so this is a nice way to vary up the source of such nutrients. I was already was taking a supplement along these lines, so I haven’t noticed any huge difference in the way that I feel from this one. But, at the same time, I’ve had not negative or unwanted effects from this. So far, it seems pretty good for me! It does seem a bit pricey, though. If there’s any changes for either the better or worse, I’ll update this review. But, so far, I’m happy with it.

Good Quality, Plant-Based Omega Supplement
This supplement was developed to support eye health and manage blood pressure, as well as support brain health. I love that it is a simple, clean supplement with 3 ingredients – borage oil, flaxseed oil and algae oil. These oils are gluten free, dairy free and I love this plant based option for omega-3s. My favorite thing is that these softgels do not smell like fish and they don’t make me burp!The softgels are clear and quite small. I find them easy to swallow. The recommended dose is to take 2 softgels a day with food. They recommend you take 1 softgel twice daily. I typically only take 1 softgel a day as I forgot to take the 2nd one in the afternoon/evening. The price is a little steep for an omega replacement, but the quality is good and they are a great choice if they meet your budget.

I’ve been using the Optimal Health Systems EFA 1,000 mg (from borage, flaxseed, and algae oil) for a little while now, and so far, I’ve had no adverse effects. As for noticeable changes, I haven’t experienced any dramatic shifts yet, but it’s still early. I appreciate that it seems gentle on my system, and I’ll continue using it as part of my routine for overall health support.

Effective, small easy to swallow capsules. But expensive
I ran out of the regular omega-3 that I take and I thought I would try this. I’ve already finished the whole bottle and I didn’t notice any decline in the benefits I get from a standard Omega-3 or any changes in how I felt due to the switch.I think it was nice the capsules were smaller. I also think it was nice to have variety of plant-based omega-3s from three different sources. The bottle isn’t overly big either so it’s easy to store. However I don’t know that I can justify a $40 price tag for a one month supply.I didn’t think the product was good. The quality is good and of course no fishy taste or burps. But to be honest I don’t really get fishy burps when I take my omega-3s either. I have noticed that’s the brand of fish based omega-3s that I buy can matter as far as the fishy burps are concerned. Sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t but that might occur more often when you take an omega-3 on an empty stomach. I’m mentioning this since other reviewers were discussing this. I do think this is relevant since if that’s what they’re selling the product on is the “no fishy burps” thing, just know that might not occur with every single fish based omega-3 out there. But if you’re doing it because you flat out don’t want a fish based Omega-3, then that’s a different circumstance and in that case, you do what’s best for you. Either way I’m just trying to offer a little insight.Other than everything I’ve just mentioned I do think this is a very good product, albeit quite pricey.

Good whole food E.F.A. supplement
I like that this Algae and Plant-sourced Essential Fatty Acid supplement is from whole foods, not fish oil. The combination of Borage oil, Flaxseed oil, and Algae oil blended together gives me a safer, more potent Omega 3’s with all the benefits and lower risk of mercury. The capsules are small and easy to swallow, and I’ve had no adverse reactions. There is only a 30-day supply in each bottle. The date of manufacture on the lot I received was 09/24. Only time will tell if this whole food product is helpful for my health but I believe Omega3’s can be very beneficial.I do like that this is made in the USA, non-GMO, and made in a GMP-certified facility.My main concern is the price. It may be too high for some compared to other similar products.
