I don’t know what this is but I wish I saw the review before I ruined my serum. It will not dissolve. At all. I heated my water and let it set and stirred and stirred, twice because I thought I messed up the first time because my water wasn’t hot enough. I ended up straining it through a muslin cloth the second time and it was just gritty powder that I poured down the drain. Don’t waste your money on it and whatever you use it in will be ruined unless you want tiny microscratches on your skin.

Pure but trouble dissolving
Using diy niacinamide is new to me, so I read a whole bunch of different recipes and instructions on how to use it.Most places say to warm the distilled water to help with dissolving. I did and I weighed and measured very carefully. Regardless, it would not dissolve, even left for a long time and regularly stirred.So, while I appreciate the purity of this niacinamide and would love to try it on my skin, I have not found this product to be useful.

This appears to be a legitimate cosmetic-grade niacinamide powder, but it is definitely a raw ingredient rather than a ready-to-use skincare product.I used it in a simple biphasic serum with 85 g of distilled water, 4 g of niacinamide, and 0.5 g of preservative in the water phase. The powder mixed in very easily and dissolved without much effort. At that concentration, the water phase contains about 4.5% niacinamide, which is within a common range for leave-on skincare.The initial pH appeared to be around 6.0. That was already reasonable, but I wanted it slightly lower, so I added a very small amount of 50% citric acid solution. One tiny drop was enough to move the entire batch close to pH 5.5. That also demonstrated how little buffering the solution had and how easy it would be to overshoot. In the future, I would use a weaker citric acid solution for more controlled adjustment.In use, the powder behaved exactly as I would expect from niacinamide. It is fine, white, water-soluble, and easy to incorporate into a water-based formula. It could also potentially be used to augment an existing water-based serum or cream, although I would only do that with measured amounts and a basic understanding of the product’s pH, preservation, and existing niacinamide content. It will not dissolve properly in oils or anhydrous balms.The main limitation is that the packaging may make this look simpler to use than it really is. This should not be applied directly to skin or casually sprinkled into products. Proper use requires some homework regarding concentration, sanitation, preservation, compatibility, and pH. Adding too much can also increase the chance of irritation or change the texture and stability of a finished product.Overall, this seems like a credible and useful niacinamide powder for DIY skincare. It dissolved properly, behaved plausibly in formulation, and allowed me to make a straightforward niacinamide serum. I would recommend it for someone comfortable measuring ingredients and checking pH, but not as a beginner product for completely unmeasured mixing.

This is a cosmetic quality pure Niacinamide Powder (Vitamin B3). It’s water soluble and will blend in with most skin creams. It’s used in cosmetics for reducing dark spots, pore minimizing and oil control, anti-acne and anti-inflammatory as well as fine line reduction. This is not a food grade powder and should not be taken orally.My wife adds this to her regular moisturizer creams. She finds it is helpful to reduce dark spots and evens her skin tone. It’s really one of the best researched low-cost additives when doing your own compounding of topical creams. I’d suggest carefully researching the proper compounding techniques. Start small, and work up, as appropriate for you.This is a good quality product at a reasonable cost. It deserves five stars

Niacinamide powder dissolves easily in water without the use of emulsifiers or solubilizers. That said, the science involved is a lot more than simply “mixing it in” into someone’s daily moisturizer. For the niacinamide to be effective, pH levels need to be within a specific range and dosing levels for skincare purposes are best at around 2-5 percent ranges. And if you are making a product that is meant to be stored for any given amount of time as opposed to a single immediate use, then you’d need to use a wide-spectrum cosmetic preservative in conjunction to avoid bacterial infestation.Obviously, all of these are a bit too much even for a determined DIYer with a kitchen scale. It’s not hard, it’s really just a matter of having the right tools with the right understanding. Maybe the up-front costs and the time required in getting the exact science down are just not worth the trouble for most consumers. As far as for the product itself, I can’t complain. Again, it mixes well in water and remember that this is a cosmetic-grade product, not food-grade. 5/5 stars overall.
