    My daughter introduced me to the NewRhythm brand a number of years back when I first started becoming interested in probiotic supplementation. She swore by them, and I used them with very good results too. I’ve since recently started using homemade kefir and yogurt instead, but if there was a brand I was going to purchase in capsule form to supplement probiotics, it would be this one.When I saw these combined probiotics with mushroom extracts, I was very intrigued. I haven’t been drinking kefir lately, so I thought this was perfect timing to get the benefit of both probiotics and mushrooms in one supplement.My Current RoutineMy husband and I have been taking lion’s mane in our coffee every morning for the past couple of months, and we’ve been feeling pretty good. When I researched whether it’s okay to take both, I found you can’t really overdose on lion’s mane and it’s only beneficial, so now we’re doing both. We take these capsules on an empty stomach first thing in the morning along with our coffee routine.About the CapsulesWhen you watch my video, you’ll see the size of the capsules. I wasn’t initially excited about them because I don’t love taking large pills, but I was pleasantly surprised they haven’t caused me any issues. They’re medium-large on a scale of small to extra large, not horse pills. I always take precautions though – I drink something first to make sure my throat isn’t dry, then take plenty of water with the capsule and swallow carefully. Sometimes larger pills feel stuck in my throat and I need extra water, but it’s more scary than harmful.Alternative for Pill HatersIf capsules bother you, it’s easy enough to open these and mix the probiotic and mushroom powder into yogurt, applesauce, or some other thick food. Don’t put them in coffee since the heat would kill the probiotics.Early ObservationsIt’s always hard to say the efficacy of supplements because you can feel better based on so many factors, and things take time to make a difference. I’ve only been taking these about a week, but so far so good. They definitely haven’t caused any ill effects. I can’t confirm specific health changes, but I can tell you the last few days I’ve managed to reach my exercise and walking goals each day, whereas I haven’t done this in months. I can’t say for sure it’s the pills, but it could be – it’s very hard to put a finger on things like that.Heads Up for New UsersSome people who start probiotics suddenly can have more bathroom visits than they’re used to. Sometimes that’s good, sometimes not, depending on the person. You might want to start them on non work days just to play it safe especially if you have a long commute..The Mushroom BonusI wasn’t specifically interested in the other mushrooms besides lion’s mane, but I’m not opposed to them either. I think they all have a good place in one’s diet, and since I don’t normally eat anything other than portobello and button mushrooms, I’m happy to be getting these varieties.

    Hard To Notice A Difference

    I was interested in both digestive support and overall wellness.     Easy to take

    I like probiotics and I like mushrooms. This is both. Is it enough of both in just one capsule? I can’t say. My guess is that you’re not really getting a useful amount of mushrooms or that the strength is effective. But it’s good ingredients, and I don’t have to taste the mushrooms. It’s not caused me any stomach upset or anything. I like that the capsules are targeted release, so they can reach your gut. It’s a pretty decent value for money.

    Do your gut a favor

    I rely heavily on probiotics to keep my gut regulated. These perform or outperform anything I’ve tried. They are a little bit on the bigger side to swallow so sometimes I open them and throw them in a smoothie but definitely worth it when you see how much benefit is packed into the capsule. Great quality product and a good quantity especially if you were just starting in the probiotic world. One potential issue I can see with this product and the reason for the reduction of a star is that there’s no safety mechanism whatsoever on the lid. I’m sure it’s not required, but I would still prefer to be able to lock down all of my supplements, and this was not an option with this container. Not really a problem with the product, but the packaging. Overall a high-quality product and does exactly what I needed to do!

    Made in the USA & 3rd Party Lab Tested

    When choosing a supplement, I have a few non-negotiable requirements. It must be made in the USA, manufactured in a GMP-certified facility, and tested by a third-party lab. This NewRhythm probiotic and mushroom supplement meets all of my requirements. It contains 35 billion CFUs of 6 strains of lacto and 4 strains of bifido bacteria. The listing claims 50 billion CFUs are included, but that contradicts the supplement panel on the bottle. Unfortunately, I do not see a prebiotic fiber included in the formula to feed the probiotics in the gut. A delayed-release capsule ensures the probiotics pass unharmed through the stomach to the intestinal tract. I have worked very hard through the years to address GI issues through gut health. Probiotics have proven to be extremely beneficial for me with noticeable health gains. This supplement also includes 500 mg of a 10:1 mushroom extract containing the following mushroom extracts: cordyceps, shitake, lion’s mane, maitake, reishi, turkey tail, and chaga. I am brand new to supplementing with mushrooms, and am unable to comment on any effects this early on. The supplement is Vegan and free of GMOs, sugar, soy, yeast, dairy, egg, wheat, corn, peanuts, fish, shellfish, magnesium stearate, artificial ingredients, fillers, binders, and preservatives. Each bottle will last 30 days at the suggested daily serving size of one capsule. The capsules are typical size and easy to swallow. At the current price of $18.99, the cost per serving is $0.63. The expiration date is 31 months in the future, allowing plenty of time to use the supplement before it expires.
