Helping my husband through an injury & recovery
I ordered this Zenos Health MuscleZen for my 53‑year‑old husband after he broke his leg. He went from being active and working out to barely able to move around the house. He has been worried about muscle loss while he’s incapacitated. I wanted to find a supplement that might help him preserve his muscle mass and give him an energy boost. I’m picky when it comes to supplements. They must be made in the USA in a GMP-certified facility and have undergone third-party lab testing to meet my basic safety standards. Zenos Health MuscleZen not only meets my requirements, but exceeds them. MuscleZen is manufactured in an NSF-certified facility, which includes GMP certification along with much stricter standards. It has been third-party lab tested by Eurofins, which is globally recognized and highly credibile. It is vegetarian and free of GMOs, gluten, dairy, and artificial colors and preservatives. My husband has been taking it for 18 days so far. Obviously, he’s not lifting weights or exercising right now, so I can’t comment on any muscle building claims. I will focus on muscle preservation instead. My husband has just been given the green light to start putting some weight on his walking boot, after being on crutches for almost 5 weeks. He says he hasn’t felt as weak as he expected after being off his leg for so long. He also mentioned that he doesn’t feel as sore and worn out after walking on his crutches all day at work as he had been feeling prior to starting the supplement. It seems like the supplement has been effective for him at maintaining strength and has given him a bit of an energy boost. I’m glad to have something that addresses the concern he has had about muscle loss. However, there are a couple downsides. The first is the number of pills that need to be taken. The bottle contains 180 capsules, which seems like a large amount, However, it is only a one month supply. Six capsules per day is a lot! It’s a minor annoyance that he can certainly deal with if it helps him. The major downside is the high price of $176.99 (after coupon) per month. That works out to $5.90 per daily serving. Unfortunately, this is a supplement he won’t be able to continue with once this injury/recovery phase of life is over because we can’t afford to keep it in our budget long-term. I don’t feel right docking a star for what I consider to be a high cost since that has nothing to do with the effectiveness of the supplement.
