Makes my morning iced coffee into a healthier mocha!
I like to add protein powder to my iced coffee, and I love a mocha… so this does it all in one. The dark chocolate flavor allows the chocolate flavor to come through a bit more, which I like. It also adds a little bit of creaminess to my drink, so I need to add less cream or milk.It actually mixes up really easily. I can get most of it just mixed up with a spoon – but a little whisk does the trick best. If you had a shaker bottle it would mix super fast – but I’m just trying to incorporate it into my coffee. I like that a scoop gives me 20 grams of protein in a very easy and digestible way, and has the bonus of pre & probiotics. I appreciate that it is whey protein, as I have heard some negative things about plant protein lately.This powder is sweetened with stevia… which I will admit, I can taste. I am pretty sensitive to bitter, and it is hard for me not to taste it. I know it’s better than artificial sweeteners, so I just push through.I’ve been using a few other products by Wellah and I think they are good quality and I am happy with this protein powder.

As someone who tries to get a good amount of protein in daily, I’ve sampled a lot of whey protein powders. Honestly, many of them taste…artificial. Being a fan of Wellah’s other products, I was optimistic about their Grass-Fed Whey Protein Isolate in Dark Chocolate, especially given the $49.99 price point. Sometimes, you get what you pay for. This whey protein powder is a healthy–but pricey–product that provides 20g of protein per serving along with some proprietary blends of prebiotics, probiotics, and enzymes. It’s considerably lower in calories than my go-to powder, but it’s also quite a bit more expensive. I ordered the “dark chocolate” flavor which, I must say, does not taste very chocolatey, but it has a pleasant flavor. The first thing I noticed about this powder is how much it foams up compared to other powders I’ve used, resulting in a very frothy shake. (I use an immersion blender to mix my protein shakes.) It mixes with almond milk very nicely with no gritty texture at all. I did try it with water once, but I wasn’t crazy about the result. Almond milk just tastes better and gives a thicker texture to the shake. It digests easily; I haven’t noticed any stomach issues at all after drinking this product. I’ve tried a few different Wellah products, and they all seem to be of very high quality, but they’re also on the expensive side.

This supplement powder arrived on time. The mixability of this powder is excellent. I have used this powder with so many liquids, including water, tea, and coffee. The taste is very neutral. For supplement products, due to the fact that they are so unregulated in the US, I always like to check for a few things like is there any information about where it was manufactured, any information about 3rd party testing and how many capsules, scoops or servings per recommended daily dose to translate to a total number of doses instead of just overall count.This product is made in the US and reports testing at ISO accredited labs and production in an NSF Certified, GMP Compliant, FDA Registered Facility although I wasn’t able to track down a Certificate of analysis. They are also a pretty well known brand which is reassuring.The product recommended serving size is 1 scoop (29 gram) which gives 20g of protein and 100 calories which is pretty solid. It also reports having some trace electrolytes, prebiotic and probiotic blend, and a protease blend for improved digestion. This gives 30 servings. It is sweetened with stevia which can be good for people limiting sugar and carbs and only 1g of added sugars. The formula/ingredients list is also pretty simple without too much fluff with is also good.In terms of flavor, I got the chocolate which came through in the taste. It had a good taste that was maybe a touch light when mixed with water at the recommended mixture level but not unpleasant at all. Not overpowering and may be related to the stevia sweetener as I have noticed a lot of low/artificial sugar protein powders do tend to be a bit mild on the flavor side but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It mixed fairly well in a standard shaker bottle. No problems after drinking it in terms of digestive comfort. I actually tried mixing it in my morning coffee which is new but worked surprisingly well and wasn’t too weird, just a light flavor twist to it.Value wise, this product is a little more expensive compared to some other more basic brands although there is a wide range of variation. It is priced closer to more mid to high level brands but you do get a little extra with the pre/probiotics and enzymes and known company. Meets expectations.

What I love about Wellah is their thoughtful combinations of beneficial ingredients. This protein mix includes pre- and probiotics, which makes sense for a drink you’re likely to have at the start of your day.The packaging is very nice and serving sizes / calorie content are very similar to other protein mixes I’ve used. What sets this one apart for me is the great flavor; it dissolves easily by stirring in water and is totally fine without any additives. With other protein drinks I’m more likely to want to take the time to at least add some banana or other fruit and put it in a blender. So this is perfect for when I don’t have a lot of time.I started using this exclusively in place of other protein powders after strength training. I only do moderate, occasional workouts, but I’m noticing the same types of gains as I’d expect. I’d highly recommend giving this stuff a try!
