Mixes well in smoothies, but the lack of transparency is a concern!
I ordered this Ultra High Flavanol Cocoa Powder for my husband to use in his protein shakes and our homemade “Jamba Juice” style smoothies. The product comes with a very generous 90 servings (split across 3 jars), making it a solid bulk supply for daily use.PRODUCT PERFORMANCE AND CONVENIENCEWhen it comes to actually using the powder, it performs quite well. It mixes effortlessly into cold smoothies and shakes without clumping up or leaving a gritty sludge at the bottom of the cup.Flavor-wise, you should know exactly what you are getting into: this is a highly concentrated extract, so it delivers a very bitter, “diet shake” dark chocolate taste. It is extremely powdery and not sweet in the slightest. If you are expecting a conventional, rich chocolate flavor for your drinks, you will absolutely need to add your own sweetener. While the powder itself seems fine, my biggest issue comes down to the brand’s transparency. There is absolutely no country of origin listed on the bottles or the Amazon listing. Furthermore, if you look at the distributor’s address, it points to a mail center rather than an actual corporate office. The label claims it is third-party tested and produced in GLP-certified facilities, but lacking basic provenance on an ingestible health supplement is definitely a red flag.KEY TAKEAWAYS(+) Mixes Easily: Blends seamlessly into protein shakes, smoothies, and coffee without leaving heavy residue.(+) Generous Supply: Getting 90 servings across three jars is a great bulk amount.(-) Bitter Profile: Tastes like very bitter, unsweetened cocoa and strictly requires your own sweetener for a traditional chocolate taste.(-) Questionable Transparency: Missing a country of origin and using a mail drop address makes it hard to fully trust the manufacturing claims. Why a 3 out of 5 stars?I am giving this three stars because while the physical product mixes well and provides a great bitter cocoa base for my husband’s smoothies, the lack of transparency is hard to ignore. When buying ingestible supplements, clear labeling regarding the country of origin and a verifiable company footprint are essential for peace of mind.Is the price justified at $44.99?It is a mixed bag. At about $0.50 per serving for a highly concentrated flavanol extract, the price point itself is actually very reasonable for the market. However, because of the missing origin details and mail-center distributor address, it is difficult to confidently say it is worth the full investment until the brand provides more transparency.FINAL THOUGHTSIf you don’t mind a bitter cocoa flavor and want an easy-to-mix powder for your daily protein shakes or smoothies, this does the job well. However, if you are strictly cautious about where your dietary supplements are sourced and manufactured, the lack of labeling transparency here might make you want to look for a more established brand.

Ultra High Flavanol Cocoa Powder –
What & why: Ok – hear me out – my goal here was that if I mixed this with peanut butter powder I would have a chocolate peanut butter concoction that resembles a “dessert”First impressions: These are small and perhaps portable containers of Cocoa powder. smaller than a baking chocolate container and more akin to “value sized” skin care items.Performance/Use: Ok – I tried, and have not yet given up, but my first few attempts to mock up a “dessert” with this were not successful. I did not get as much of a “chocolate” hit as I got, the bitterness of baking cocoa. Still trying, but know that this is not a sweetened powder.Pros: great idea, good size for portability, and in theory the gateway to my chocolate and peanut butter needs.Cons: More bittersweet/unsweetened than I was expecting.Overall: Still trying it out, hopeful to hit the “sweet” spot soon.

Unsure about independent certifications of claims
This product is not very appetizing when mixed into water. I would really recommend adding it into a smoothie or at least some milk or something that has some flavor, as this isn’t a pleasing “hot chocolate” taste like I thought. It’s a very bitter unsweetened cocoa, so I found it necessary to take lengths to mask the taste, which isn’t really what I expected. I have never tried an ultra high flavanol cocoa powder so that may be something that is typical, but like I said, it’s definitely different than what I anticipated. This product is really high in caffeine, the equivalent to a few cups of coffee in one scoop, so tread lightly with it if you’re not accustomed to that level of caffeine that is present in the 300 mg of theobromine because it can make you feel jittery or unable to sleep. Trust me when I say that I would really recommend drinking this in the morning vs. at night for that reason. It probably won’t bother you if you regularly drink energy drinks or multiple cups of coffee in a day, but I found it pretty overwhelming.I appreciate that this product says it’s third party tested, but I don’t really see any reliable lab reports or official certifications of this, which makes me kind of uneasy about its claims being that I’m also unfamiliar with the brand. I did a pretty deep-dive research to find out what independent certifications they have aside from their own claims and came up without anything. That doesn’t mean that it’s not a great product; I just don’t see evidence of independent certifications. With a supplement, I just can’t be too careful and this makes me a little uneasy.I will say that this product came fully sealed and packaged securely from a hygienic and purity standpoint, I felt very safe giving it a try. It would have been impossible for anyone to tamper with it with how well it was wrapped.

Flavorless Flavanols
Ultra High Flavanol Cocoa Powder has a great deal of good in it, 1000mg of Flavanols to support heart health. The written instructions say that one scoop a day mixed with any liquid but I found it clumped together trying to physically mix it with anything cool like almond milk and I would no way pull out the blender to mix it, I did find it mixes well with warmed liquids. Of course the taste is bitter like sugar free cocoa so you may want to blend it with some naturally flavored ingredients like fruit and spices. The mix has Theobromine which studies say boost energy but I didn’t really feel anything but it is safe which is important, still check with your doctor before adding any new supplement to your daily routine. Toniiq claims this product it lab tested and pure but no known lab is listed, this I blame the FDA who should have labs listed for the sake of testing even if they do not approve it should be done to protect the public. I can’t really give a good review on a product that is not confirmed safe even if the price is fair.

Bitter, expensive, but good quality
This appears to be high quality cocoa powder. It is basically the same as baking cocoa, so it is a completely unsweetened powder. The powder itself is very bitter, just like baking cocoa, and can be used for similar uses. The powder itself is quite fine, and will poof up in your face when you open the container for the first time. The powder does not stick together or clump up. It is easy to scoop with a spoon or with the included scoop in the container. The very fine powder mixes well into most thick liquids, at least as well as cocoa powder mixes. Cocoa powder generally tends to clump up and leave little lumps unless you mix it in a blender. If you are mixing it into plain water it’s probably not going to work very well. Keep in mind that this is plain, unsweetened cocoa powder, so it’s going to be extremely bitter unless you add your own sweetener.I know this is sold as a supplement, rather than as just plain cocoa powder such as for baking, but the price still seems pretty extreme. You don’t get a ton of the cocoa powder for what you’re paying.Overall, this is a very bitter supplement, but it’s a fine powder, and mixes well into thicker liquids that you would use a blender for like a smoothie, but not as well into thinner liquids, and not very well if you’re mixing it with a spoon. It is packaged securely with an inner safety seal, and the lid fits back on securely. Each bottle also comes with its own little dosing spoon. Overall, a good product, but kind of bitter and expensive.

Cocoa is ok but sourcing and independent lab testing are questionable
The powder is very fine and resembles cocoa powder that you’d use for baking. I mixed this cocoa powder with whole milk and creatine monohydrate powder for a post-workout shake. It mixed well (didn’t have a weird mouthfeel or gritty texture) but it is completely unsweetened so you’ll need to add your own sweetener unless you’re used to or like the bitter taste. The chocolate flavor is also subtle so you’ll be disappointed if you’re expecting it to taste like chocolate milk or a regular protein shake. The containers are smaller than expected but so is the serving size (scoop is included in each jar) so it’ll last a while – a jar contains 30 servings. At the time of ordering in July, a 3 pack was priced at $44.99 which makes each serving a reasonable $0.50. The issue I have with product is transparency about testing and sourcing. Neither of those are contained within the listing. I had to visit the Toniiq website to find out it’s manufactured in the US with “globally sourced” ingredients, so still pretty vague. A Certificate of Analysis on the website but it is questionable as it’s just Toniiq letterhead signed off by the VP of Operations Jason Bollinger containing the lab results but the name of the actual lab isn’t provided so I have to assume this is in-house testing, which may or may not be accurate. If legitimate third party testing was done, that information is not readily available on the website.

High quality & fabulous flavor
Toniq has NEVER failed me! I recently added cocoa powder to my supplements bc I’ve learned that it helps combat inflammation, and am so happy with this one! The high flavanol content is very important here! It tases so pure and yummy, I add the scoop to either warm milk, yogurt, or my protein coffee and I look forward to taking it daily. Hard to say what it working bc I take so many supplements, but I feel amazing! The 3 pack is such a great value for me bc I don’t plan on stopping this regimen. If you haven’t yet tried toniq supps, it’s definitely a smart move – they don’t cut corners like other shady brands.

Strong Cocoa Flavor and Easy to Use
I’ve been really impressed with this ultra-high-flavanol cocoa powder. The powder mixes easily into drinks and has a rich cocoa flavor without being overly sweet. I like that each scoop provides a clearly stated amount of flavanols and that the product is third-party tested. So far I’ve been putting it in my coffee and it’s delicious. The added theobromine is a nice bonus, and the 90-serving container makes it convenient for regular use. This is a great option if you’re looking for a concentrated cocoa product with a high flavanol content and a simple way to add cocoa to your daily routine.
