High Quality CoQ10 Supplement

I’ve tried different CoQ10 brands before, and this one is comparable in price while still feeling like a high quality product. The softgels are smooth and easy to swallow, which is important since some supplements can be a bit tough to take. I’ve noticed a good effect since starting on them, and they seem to be made well with no odd taste or aftereffects. Overall, it’s a solid product that delivers as expected and feels like a good value.

Backed by sound science but expensive and the gelcaps are LARGE

Brand Quality Assessment (tl;dr version)• Stop Aging Now as a brand checks nearly all my quality indicator boxes (with a caveat,) including, but not limited to: manufacturer GMP certification and USP or NSF International or ConsumerLab certification/seal, third party testing, raw materials testing, post manufacture testing, scientific advisory panel, peer reviewed published studies… etc.Why I chose this product:• The MAX-Q10™ ULTRA PQQ formulation is backed by sound science. The key ingredients are well studied and provided in the forms and dosages used in many clinical trials.• Although using BioPerine adds to the cost, the proprietary, patented formula has been shown to provide an even greater increase in CoQ10 absorption than other black pepper extracts.• In addition to improved cellular energy production and overall health, the synergistic combination of CoQ10-Ubiquinone with Pyrroloquinoline Quinone (PQQ) may be especially beneficial for cognitive function. More human clinical trials are needed to confirm it’s long-term effects on brain function.• The other 3 ingredients each have their benefits and combining them with CoQ10 may offer synergistic effects. (The amounts are low… it would be helpful if Stop Aging Now provided more of their rationale for including these 3 ingredients and the dosage selected than the single sentence in a photo and ad copy.)Format and Cost:• Large softgel capsule nearly 1″ long and over 1/4″ wide.• $49.99 for 60 softgels taken 2 per day = $50.00 per month.MAX-Q10™ ULTRA PQQ is expensive for an essentially single component supplement (CoQ10) that’s unlikely to be taken in isolation without other supplements.I’ll continue searching for a less costly alternative that combines Coenzyme Q10-Ubiquinone with Pyrroloquinoline Quinone and BioPerine__________________________________Brand Quality Assessment Caveat:• Stop Aging Now makes it very difficult to research the manufacturer of their supplements. The Stop Aging Now website, their bottle labels and listings on Amazon and Walmart all show their manufacturer as Nature’s Products, Inc. or occasionally, Wellnext.BUT Nature’s Products, Inc. has not existed as business entity for many years and neither has Wellnext. The website domains each company used in the past are both for sale.What I did find:The Stop Aging Now brand is the direct-to-consumer business arm of Nutranext Direct, LLC. (previously known as Wellnext and previous to that, Nature’s Products, Inc,) which was acquired by The Clorox Company in 2018. The Nutranext Direct, LLC. portfolio includes Rainbow Light (multivitamins), Natural Vitality (specialty minerals), NeoCell (hair, skin, and nails supplements) and other nutrition and supplement brands.• The Nutranext Direct, LLC website is defunct, despite still being widely published. Without the opportunity to validate the claims, I had to rely solely on what the Stop Aging Now website has to say about their quality processes.

Lack of info on quality control but overall seems like a great supplement

This supplement has some encouraging features but I do have a couple concerns that I’ll touch on later. First, it’s made with a trans-form of CoQ10 which is the same bio identical form produced in the body. It’s also formulated with black pepper extract which helps increase absorption. The idea is for it to act as an antioxidant and boost overall energy production. I really love the fish oil complex and especially like how they use anchovy, mackerel and mackerel as their fish sources as they’re known to be less toxic than some of the larger fish species. The serving size is 2, easy to swallow softgels (I love the softgel design over pills or capsules). I’m slightly torn on this product only because of the lack of info on quality. Where are the fish sourced from?? And the other ingredients? I don’t think anything is lab tested but it does at least say it’s made in an FDA inspected facility to meet GMP guidelines. Without 3rd party testing I have a hard time fully buying in but it does seem like a solid product overall.

Not Mother Approved (At Least My Mom)

My mother has been harping about the benefits of CoQ10 for years, so when I had the chance to order this product to evaluate, I jumped on it without doing any research, or even asking my Mom :)While my mother is not a doctor or pharmacist, etc., she did own a health food store for many years and has done extensive research on all types of vitamins and supplements.As she is not a certified expert, I will withhold the specifics of the criticisms she had after reading the label. She is allowing me to use up the bottle, but only at a half dose, which is one softgel per day, instead of the two softgels recommended.As products like these are hard to evaluate to begin with, I’ll just be giving this product a neutral 3 stars.
