So far I’ve taken only one dose of this supplement. I haven’t noticed a difference in how I feel either way, so there is no reason to deduct any stars. Today I had gotten less sleep than usual and hoped for an energetic boost. There was no rush of energy even with coffee, an energy drink, and a caffeinated soda added to the mix. Perhaps the lack of sleep today is too much to overcome. Also, from what I read, 500 mg is a low dose.The capsules are about 7/8″ in length. There was a vinegary smell when I opened the bottle, and the capsule I took even tasted vinegary when it hit my tongue. But it was fine and went down easily. I like that the bottle has a flip top lid and not one that you have to unscrew and screw back on. The protective foil across the the top of the bottle was attached securely but at the same time peeled off cleanly, which I like as well. It’s annoying when some foil or paper clings to the top edge and leaves a residue.I had clicked quickly when I saw the words “Stop Aging Now,” but actually that is the company name, not a claim related to this particular supplement. The name definitely piqued my curiosity.The value of taking acetyl-L-carnitine isn’t to stop aging per se, according to my interpretation of the research, but more so to have a potential energy boost and greater mental clarity. This energy and clarity would be achieved through carnitine’s role in helping to shuttle long-chain fatty acids into mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell), where they can be used to produce energy. The acetyl form crosses into the nervous system more readily than plain L-carnitine, hence the possible benefits related to mental status.I researched that acetyl-L-carnitine is a substance naturally produced by the body, so by taking it, a person presumably isn’t introducing a completely foreign chemical (except for perhaps any fillers, of course). The body makes carnitine naturally from the amino acids lysine and methionine, with help from vitamin C, iron, vitamin B6, and niacin (vitamin B3). So that is reassuring.I read that acetyl-L-carnitine is best taken in the morning or the early afternoon to help prevent any insomnia due to its energizing effect.Now, there can be some negative side effects for some people, so everyone should do their research and consult with their health care provider. I even went down a rabbit hole in which I researched whether acetyl-L-carnitine could help preserve telomere length (i.e., help combat aging), and it seemed that in some specific lab conditions, in a lab dish, there could be a role related to telomere length. But not every impact on telomere length is good, apparently. And carnitine can be metabolized by gut bacteria into a substance called TMA, which is converted to TMAO (trimethlamine N-oxide). Again, in a lab dish scenario, there could be some concerns. Effects being seen in a lab dish don’t equate to effects being proven in people, however.The bottom line seems to be to consult with your health care provider and do your research. And be sure that you are benefiting from a supplement if you are taking it, to balance against any side effects you may experience. Each individual’s scenario may be different.

This is one capsule with everything in it which is great!This supplement helps with Cognitive and Brain Health, Energy and Metabolism, Mood Support and Male Infertility. It also helps reduce pain.The only downside to this is that you can gain weight on it as it increases appetite in some people.It is NOT recommended for people with bipolar disorder or those taking blood-thinning medications without doctor approval.Common dosage is 1 to 2 capsules of 500mg 1 to 2 times a day and is frequently paired with ALA (Alpha Lipoic Acid) for nerve help.I find that one capsule with ALC works great for me and I have not gained weight so I think sticking to the dosage recommended might be the key.In either case, it works, its great and I highly recommend this product!
