  • GROUND FROM DRIED GINGER ROOT: Sonth is what you get when mature ginger roots are fully dried and ground fine. It is not the same as fresh ginger. The drying concentrates the flavor and changes the heat profile entirely. The result is a fine, pale-cream powder that blends into dishes and drinks without the fibrous texture of fresh root.
  • STRONGER THAN FRESH GINGER, USE LESS THAN YOU THINK: Dried ginger powder is significantly more pungent than fresh. The heat is sharper, more concentrated, and it lingers. A quarter teaspoon in a chai or curry does real work. If you're new to sonth, start with less. It's easier to add than to take back.
  • IN THE KITCHEN, IT PULLS A LOT OF WEIGHT: Stir into masala chai, golden milk, or a simple warm water drink with honey and lemon. Add to gingerbread, spiced cookies, pumpkin pie, and muffins. Use in Indian curries, dal, marinades, and chutneys. It goes into garam masala blends, Kashmiri cooking, and winter warming drinks across South Asia.
  • SONTH HAS BEEN IN INDIAN KITCHENS FOR CENTURIES: In Ayurveda, dried ginger (sonth) is considered one of the foundational warming spices, used traditionally in postpartum meals, winter preparations, and digestive spice blends. It is not a supplement. It is a spice, with a very long and well-documented place in Indian food culture.
  • 100% USDA ORGANIC, GINGER ROOTS ABSORB WHAT THEY GROW IN: Ginger is a root crop, and root crops pull from the soil directly. Conventional ginger can carry soil-applied pesticide and heavy metal residues. 100% USDA Certified Organic means the soil, the water, and the growing conditions are held to a strict standard, from the ground up, not just the surface.
  • EVERY BATCH LAB TESTED: Independently tested by a third-party lab for heavy metals, ETOs, and pesticide residues, not just at source, but on the final product. The actual test reports are available at SpiceProfile.com. No black box.
  • 16 OZ, BULK PACK FOR SERIOUS USERS: If ginger powder is a daily ingredient in your chai, baking, or cooking, a small jar runs out quickly. The 16 oz large pack is a practical bulk buy, better value per ounce, fewer reorders. Resealable pouch keeps it dry and potent. Gluten-free, vegan, non-GMO.

Great quality ground ginger, helps me with nausea

This spice comes in a resealable bag that opens on top. It’s great for airtight storage and will help preserve the spice before it reaches its best-by date, which is in less than two years. The spice is finely ground and fresh. It has the characteristic punchy scent and taste of ginger. I’m glad there’s a whole pound in the bag, as I end up using a lot. I do add it to various foods, but I also use it as a remedy for nausea. I stir about half a teaspoon into a small glass of water — it’s a little hard to get it down, but it works for me. There are some really cool studies on ginger out there that indicate it has various health benefits. For example, it may be as effective as Ibuprofen in relieving menstrual pain.Overall, I’m very happy with the quality of this spice. The extra lab testing done gives me peace of mind.

Aromatic ground ginger with a warm, zesty flavor

A versatile organic ground ginger with a warm, zesty flavor that works beautifully in both sweet and savory recipes. The fine powder is convenient for adding ginger flavor without the preparation required with fresh ginger. What I liked: I like the aromatic flavor and how easy it is to incorporate into different recipes. It works especially well in tea, baked goods, curries, marinades, and spice blends. The 16 oz package is generous and convenient for regular cooking, and I appreciate that it is lab tested and made from dried ginger root.Overall: A versatile pantry staple with plenty of uses beyond traditional cooking. The convenient ground format, warm flavor, and generous package size make it a great choice for anyone who regularly cooks or bakes with ginger.

🥇Best Tasting Organic Ground Ginger! Tastes Fresh & No Bitterness + Transparent Testing for Purity!

This Spice Profile Organic Ginger is the first ground ginger I’ve ever loved! It tastes the closest to fresh ginger than any other version I’ve tried, and I only buy organic. I have bought so many ground versions, but the flavor does not compare to this. It’s the perfect combo of sweet and spicy.I love ginger so much that I buy fresh ginger, blend it, and freeze it into ice cubes to use in smoothies for our family. It aids digestion and is immune-boosting. This Spice Profile Organic Ground Ginger is a worthy alternative to fresh. It is so finely ground and aromatic. I compared it to other organic ground versions I have for baking, and the difference is overwhelming, the others taste bitter start to finish and are barely tolerable on their own.The Spice Profile Ginger has no bitterness at all. I made a tea I could drink by itself, but I added a little honey and lemon, and it’s delicious as a warm tea or as a flavoring to add to my water bottle. I have thrown out my small, more expensive store-bought spices and teabags. This Spice Profile ginger is hands down, the best.I only purchase food items from India that are USDA Organic., but Spice Profile has to be the most transparent brand regarding ingredients and testing. I scanned the QR code on the packaging and I can see the results of the testing of my actual batch. Amazing! I am a new fan of this brand and will check out their other spices. And I can’t wait to bake gingerbread cookies with this! The ONLY thing I can say that needs improvement is the ziplock packaging. It is impossible to seal closed — the fine powder gets caught in it and will not zip closed, so you have to clip it closed and store it in an airtight container to maintain the freshness. This is a huge amount of delicious ground ginger, so it’s a fantastic value, especially given that it’s USDA organic and thoroughly tested for purity. Get yourself some & share it with your mom!

Organic Ginger Root with Excellent Flavor and Impressive Transparent Testing

I have purchased several Spice Profile products before, including their cumin seeds, coriander seeds, and Ceylon cinnamon, and I have been very pleased with the quality. This is my first time trying their organic ground ginger root, and it definitely lives up to my previous experience with the brand. The ginger root itself is beautiful. It is very finely ground with a rich, natural color, an intense fresh ginger aroma, and excellent flavor. I included a close-up photo (second photo) so you can really see the color and fine texture. We plan to use this for homemade ginger tea, as well as for cooking and baking. One of the things I especially appreciate about Spice Profile is the amount of testing they do. This ginger is USDA Organic, sourced from India, and the package states that it is lab tested with 250+ checks. I scanned the QR code on the package and was able to see the batch test information, including the independent laboratory, lot number, testing dates, and results. The report included testing for heavy metals such as lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury, along with pesticides, insecticides, ethylene oxide, and other potential contaminants. I really appreciate being able to see that level of testing and transparency for something my family is consuming. My only minor complaint is the resealable closure on this particular bag. It has been a little more difficult to close than the other Spice Profile bags I have purchased, so that seems specific to this bag rather than something I have experienced consistently with the brand. At the current price of $14.99 for a full 16-ounce pound of organic ground ginger root, I think this is an excellent value, particularly considering the quality and extensive testing. The ginger smells wonderful, tastes wonderful, and I feel very good about using it in our kitchen.

  6. TakTak

Large bag of high quality organic ginger powder from India

When it comes to ginger, I am definitely in the power user category. I use it both dried and fresh in cooking and baking and in my daily cup of chai. This large 1 lb bag of organic ground ginger from Spice Profile is a great addition to my pantry. The ginger is sourced from India. The powder is finely ground and easily mixes with other ingredients. It looks very clean and dry, and it doesn’t clump at all.The ginger flavor is very strong and clean, with the characteristic spicy ginger bite. Just a teaspoon or two of this powder is enough to infuse any dish or baked item with a warm, earthy flavor and aroma. It has a pleasant, not too bitter aftertaste and leaves a delightful tingle on the tongue. This ginger spice powder is USDA-certified organic and lab-tested for contaminants. You can scan a barcode on the pouch and then type in your batch number to access test results on the Spice Profile website. The powder comes in a resealable pouch, and the Best Before date is almost two years from now. However, I don’t think the original pouch is suitable for long-term storage. I transferred mine to vacuum-sealed mason jars to preserve freshness.

    Good stuff

Really strong , fresh, and flavorful.Powder is uniform and smooth.Works great for tea. I simply boil it in hot water and let it cool for a little and all the residue pools to the bottom so I can pour out the tea without needing the filter it.Only issue is that I can’t really reseal it. It’s in a resealable bag, but the powder got densely packed into the zipper since it seems it wasn’t sealed properly before being shipped, and I can’t fully clear it out so I have to use a clip to close it.Great price for $15 right now.

  8. CheckingItOut

    Pretty Cool!

This big 16oz bag is great to have around and it’s made clean, being tested many times; over 250. I’m going to do some more checking on it but, it seems like there’s a lot of happy people. I know Ginger has helped me in many ways throughout the years too.Cons: My only complaint really, would be that they’ve got zero directions on the bag, though there’s plenty of room and I’m a bit ignorant. It’s easy enough to look up though and I intend to try more things.I’m definitely happy I tried it!
