Top of the line, standardized 20 to 1 extract with 40% fatty acids, which is ideal.
Top of the line, standardized 20 to 1 extract with 40% fatty acids, which is ideal. The most I’ve seen among saw palmetto extract formulas on the market is 45% fatty acids, with some as low as 25%, which is probably better than all the brands out there that don’t even tell you the minimum fatty acid content, which is a huge red flag for me… all the top brands and the most successful reputable brands are going to have 40-45% fatty acid content, from what I understand, although I just saw a biggie name brand that mainly sells to healthcare professionals, and they were only using a 25% fatty acid saw palmetto.Anyhow, it’s good to have a brand that is doing this correctly, from everything I’ve ever read on the subject…. and again, this is a 20 to 1 extract formula, and so many brands out there just list on the label as being an “extract”, with no clue as to the concentration, or power…. no thanks, I want a brand that is transparent and tells me all the vital information I need to know in order to make an educated buying decision, and this brand does that, namely by stating the fatty acid content and the 20 to 1 extract equation, and then they don’t stop there… that healthcare professional brand I mentioned earlier, only had 160 mg’s of saw palmetto extract per capsule, where as this brand has a more efficacious dose of 300 mg, which is ideal from what I understand. I take this along with a lycopene softgel product and then of course a good multi with good amounts of zinc, B vitamins, vitamin D, etc, along with boron which is good for many health support functions. So this saw palmetto formula is a big hit in every way, it hits all the highlights I look for, including made in the USA, which is a must for me when it comes to supplements. And this isn’t just made in the USA it’s made in a 3rd party GMP certified facility, which is a big deal as I understand it, it means extreme accountability and reporting of all quality control processes, that go well above and beyond the standard GMP “compliant” manufactured supplements. And beware out there, a supplement claiming to be made in a GMP compliant facility, and even an “FDA inspected facility”, no longer means the product is made in the US… the FDA has made agreements with other foreign countries to include them in on such designations…. even a brand that is labelled as a “small business”, by Amazon, you might think means it’s a US small business, but no, it can be a small business in another country…. they’re really trying to muddy the waters and cause confusion when it comes to country of origin, so unless the brand specifically says “made in the USA”, chances are it’s not, which was a huge shocker for me when I first learned about this a couple years ago, for what that’s worth. Great value, great product.

Not the right choice for me.
I ordered these based on hearing from multiple sources that saw palmetto is beneficial for men, specifically in regards to prostate and urinary tract health. The prospect of a single-capsule dose and 120 servings per bottle was very attractive to me. However, between the time I ordered and when I intended to incorporate saw palmetto into my supplement routine, I also learned from multiple sources that saw palmetto can negatively impact male libido, which is something I definitely am not willing to risk at this time. So, that’s a no-go, and something I wish I would’ve learned prior to ordering. That’s one star off up front, as I can’t give a five-star score for something I won’t end up using. However, I deducted a second star as a matter of principle. The bottle shows claims of third-party testing and a GMP-certified factory, as well as an American flag with the words “USA BRAND” on it. Well, that’s about as useful as “Designed in the USA” since the greater concern is where it’s actually manufactured. In my opinion, there shouldn’t be any USA references unless it’s made here. So, I am knocking off a star for that. This might be an excellent product, but I’ll have to choose differently.

Standardized, GMP, 3rd party tested
Saw Palmetto Extra Strength 20:1 Extract, 40% Fatty AcidsI recently started getting into herbal supplements. I was surprised to find that they’re all different. When the supplement (like this one) says “standardized”, it means that you’re getting a specific amount of the intended compounds. Without a standardized supplement, you really have no idea what you’re actually getting. Plants are natural – and from plant to plant, they contain different amounts of various compounds. Different parts of the plants (leaf, stem, root) also contain different concentrations. So – I’m replacing an older saw palmetto supplement. It’s not standardized. I have no idea of the concentration. The directions indicate to take 5 pills daily! Yikes.BUT THIS supplement is standardized and concentrated. With one 300mg capsule, I’m getting the equivalent of 6000mg (20x) of saw palmetto. AND it’s standardized to 40% fatty acids, so I know there’s a level of consistency. It’s made in a GMP/NSF certified facility, and is 3rd party tested. The only negative is the US flag with the words “USA Brand” – which means it’s not made in the USA, it’s just branded by a company in California. There’s no indication of country of origin.

Really good value, no frills quality saw palmetto
Just saw palmetto and nothing else, decent serving size and good quality control certifications. SMS Health seems to be a bit newer and smaller of a supplement brand, though they have GMP and NSF certifications and do third party testing, they have minimum potency thresholds so I have pretty good confidence these would be both safe and potent. At just $11 for 120 servings this is an excellent value at the time of review, even if it was a little bit more than that it would still be pretty well priced, given that and the quality control I would definitely recommend it.

Solid saw palmetto with strong potency and clean ingredientsSolid saw palmetto with strong potency and clean ingredients
I’m 51 and have been using saw palmetto for a while now to support both my prostate health and hair. When I spotted this extra strength formula from SMS Health Products, the first thing that caught my eye was the 20:1 extract strength. That’s not something you see every day, and it definitely feels like a step up from the usual blends I’ve tried.I just started taking it so it’s too early to tell the effectiveness yet, but based on the clean formulation, I think it’s going to be solid. It’s standardized to 40% fatty acids, which is a good sign if you’re actually looking for potency and consistency. The capsules are vegan, made with HPMC, and totally free from common allergens like soy, gluten, and dairy. As someone who tries to stick to natural supplements without a lot of junk in them, I appreciated how clean and straightforward the ingredients list is.Pros:+ High-strength 20:1 extract standardized to 40% fatty acids+ 120 vegan capsules is a solid 4-month supply+ No fillers, allergens, or artificial additives+ Made in the USA in NSF- and GMP-certified facilities+ Third-party tested (though not publicly posted)Cons:- No published lab results you can view yourself- Single-ingredient formula, so no added herbs for broader hormonal support- Doesn’t say where the saw palmetto is sourced from- Not a full-spectrum men’s health formulaIf you’re mainly focused on prostate support and keeping urinary flow normal, this fits the bill really well. It’s simple, strong, and clean. I haven’t noticed any negative side effects, and it fits into my daily routine easily. The capsules are smooth and easy to swallow too, which isn’t always the case with supplements this size.Who it’s for:Men who want a strong, no-nonsense saw palmetto supplement with a clean label. It’s also a good pick for vegans or anyone with allergies to common fillers.Who it’s not for:If you’re looking for a full men’s formula with things like zinc, pygeum, or nettle, this won’t cover all your bases. Also, if you like to see lab results upfront, that info’s not available here.My final thoughts:Overall, it’s a good value, and seems to be a high quality, potent supplement that does what it says. Nothing fancy, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want. If your focus is prostate support and you want something allergen-free and plant-based, this is a strong option.

Good saw palmetto supplementGood saw palmetto supplement
Good saw palmetto supplement which is made in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) compliant facility and third party lab tested. Just recently started using so might be too early to tell of any benefits, but I can say I haven’t experienced any problems using these. The capsules are tasteless and easy to swallow. I’m not sure what to make of the “USA Brand” statement, but suspect it’s likely these are made outside the USA (if that is of importance to you).

Good Potency, Great Value, and Easy to TakeGood Potency, Great Value, and Easy to Take
Like a lot of men over 50, I’ve started paying more attention to my prostate health. I don’t have any issues right now, and I’d definitely like to keep it that way. I’ve heard for years that saw palmetto can help support prostate health, and I prefer natural options over prescription meds whenever possible. This supplement seems to be great quality, with a solid potency and a really good value for the amount you get. The capsules are easy to swallow, and there’s no weird smell when I open the bottle, which is a nice bonus. So far, I’m very happy with it. If you’re looking for a simple, affordable saw palmetto supplement, this is a great choice.

Wonderful for your prostate and hair.Wonderful for your prostate and hair.
I’ve been taking saw palmetto for years, mainly to keep my hair,I decided to go the natural route instead of pharmaceuticals because of the known side effects that go along with taking such things…@ age 49 now I still have a full head of hair that is quite nice and strong while most men in my family are bald. So yes I can testify that saw palmetto does indeed work.I also feel that perhaps in taking saw palmetto I have saved myself the torture of getting up at night to urinate frequently, as of today I have absolutely no prostate issues and never did, hopefully it stays that way. This is a very potent formula being a 20:1 extract and at an exceptional price, I will definitely be stocking up on more of this. This is a 4 month supply in capsules that are NOT huge, they are easy to swallow, no aftertaste and are convenient to take..with 0 side effects.I just put them in my pill planner and take them with all my other supplements.ALSO: this is a single ingredient supplement that is of great quality and strength, it would be wise to take this with a good quality pumpkin seed oil.
