I have been taking another Earth’s Pearl product for many years: Probiotics for Women & Men. That formula, which has 5 probiotic strains totaling 4 billion CFUs, has served me well. My digestive health is better now than it’s ever been, and I feel that using probiotic supplements has helped me immensely in that regard. This supplement for men expands on that product with 9 additional strains totaling 50 billion CFUs, while omitting one that’s present in the 5-strain formula.This is a powder-filled capsule rather than the spherical pressed pill of the 5-strain product. Either form is ok with me, but others might prefer one form over another.When I received these, I switched immediately from the pearl style (which is a Subscribe and Save item for me). One week in, my digestion has not changed one way or another, so I would say that these work at least as well as the old pearl formula where my digestion is concerned.For those who have used the 5-strain product, I want to mention that L. reuteri, which is present in the old formula, is not present in this formulation. All of the others are still present: L. acidophilus, L. plantarum, B. infantis and B. lactis.There is no reason specific to male anatomy that would explain not including L. reuteri, but we can speculate as to some possible reasons:• L. reuteri is less of a “gut health” probiotic and more of a “whole system” probiotic, impacting immune health, modulates serotonin pathways, affects skin barrier and inflammation, and so on. Since this product targets gut health, L. reuteri could be seen as unnecessary.• L. reuteri can negatively impact the shelf life of other strains. It produces reuterin, which inhibits the growth of many other bacteria. Earth’s Pearl might have asked themselves: If our product is not intended to provide L. reuteri’s unique benefits, why include it – especially if it is going to harm other strains?• L. reuteri is more expensive to produce.Since L. reuteri provides benefits beyond digestive support, I will probably stick with the 5-strain formula.My advice would be as follows:• If your focus is on improving digestive health, this is a perfectly fine supplement. Some of the strains are probably redundant, but they’re also not going to hurt.• On the other hand, if you want a supplement that provides whole-body support, one of Earth’s Pearl’s other formulation might be better.Either way, Earth’s Pearl is a solid brand of probiotic/prebiotic products and you can’t go wrong with them.One final note: Unlike the 5-strain product, this formula’s label mentions containing an inulin carrier. WebMD describes inulin thusly:”Inulin is a form of soluble fiber available as a dietary supplement. It is usually made from chicory root but may also come from other plants. Inulin is commonly used to improve digestive and metabolic health.”For me, inulin has often been a problem (bad gas pains). I have gone out of my way to avoid products containing chicory root syrup and tapioca syrup, which also contains inulin. So far, however, these capsules are not having that effect on me. If I had to guess why I can tolerate these capsules but not a protein bar containing chicory root, I would say that it is probably because the capsules contain a very small amount of inulin relative to the products that do affect me that way. As they say, your milage may vary.

See update at bottom… Raise to 5 StarsEarths Pearls Probiotics for men in capsule form. 13 strains of 50 million units total. I have been taking the regular Earths Pearls brand for a few years now and it took me trying many brands to find that one that actually worked for me. Occasionally I would try another brand and the results would not be good. So the only reason I’m even willing to try this product is because it’s made by the same brand. However it being in capsule form still does make me a little nervous since one of the big selling points of the “pearl” type version had been that form (the pearl vs capsules) allowed it to be absorbed better and deeper into the intestinal tract. My husband and I usually take the pearl type twice a day, so for now to start I’m having my husband replace one of his pearls with one of these capsules. So far so good a few days in and no noticeable effects, neither good or bad (no changes to GI, stomach, bloating, nausea etc). If after a week or two he’s still doing well then either I’ll have him replace both of his doses or I may also try the same regimen of trying one per day (and continuing with one regular pearl). I’m hoping for the best, however since the price point on these is about the same as for the pearls then these would have to be noticeably better for me to want to change. I will update this review in about a month if I find it warrants changing the rating. For now I give it a 4 Star rating (with hopes of possibly raising it at a later date).Update: Sept 4, 2026 My husband has been taking these regularly (replacing one of his regular pearl version per day: so one pearl in the AM and this capsule version in the PM) for one full month now, and not noticed any differences in his health – good or bad. On SnS the pearls cost about the same as this version currently does with its $5 coupon savings (so both cost the same at $20). (Honestly my own intestinal flora are just too sensitive for me to even risk my personal health trying it on myself.) So I think it really comes down to a matter of personal preference between the pearl version and the capsule version. I’m personally going to stick with the pearls. And since there’s no price difference between the pearls and the capsules and my husband has been on the pearls longer then I’ll likely keep him on the pearls. However because I do like and believe in this brand, I am going to raise my overall review rating from 4 to 5 Stars.Thanks for reading and I hope this review has been helpful to you. High cfu, but invisible formula….

This provides a substantial probiotic count. It identifies 13 bacterial species but gives no strain designations or individual CFU amounts.Probiotic benefits are highly strain- and dose-specific, so the label doesnt allow the formula to be matched confidently to clinical studies. The World Gastroenterology Organisation specifically recommends identifying probiotic strains and viable counts through shelf life.The added prebiotics are also mostly token amounts: 50 mg FOS plus 50 mg inulin. Although some synbiotic trials have used FOS in the hundreds of milligrams, many established prebiotic interventions use gram-level quantities. Thus, I wouldnt consider 100 mg total a meaningful general-purpose prebiotic dose.Earths Pearl is identified on the bottle as a Heroes Group trademark, with the product manufactured for Boba Inc. at 4444 Centerville Road, White Bear Lake, Minnesota. Boba is an established operating company with import records going back to at least 2012, and the same address is independently used for its other businesses.However, the label says manufactured for, not manufactured by, so it does not disclose who actually makes these probiotics. Overall, the CFU quantity is respectable, but the absence of strain IDs, individual doses, and manufacturer disclosure makes this considerably less transparent than other probiotic products.
