Effects are good and mellow ..but this is the worst tasting kava I have tried ..good value for the money but if you are just first trying kava I wouldn’t dive into this bag. Just to be clear all kava tastes bad but this is a step above .maybe mood and mind should consider testing a milder tasting kava

This product is amazing as its PERFECT for people with pain and anxiety both. I suffer fibromyalgia and was very sore yesterday but I took two glasses of tea each with .5 g of kava in it and the effects were out of this world. My pain was numbed away ( will make mouth numb somewhat when drunk as a tea) My muscles all released and the knots loosened. My anxiety was gone, the only thing i had anxiety from was the NUMB RELAXED FEELING FROM TEA , and I took too much very first time. ONLY DRINK ONE CUP OF TEA WITH A LEVEL TEASPOON FIRST TO TRY. Wait 2 HOURS MINIMUM before taking more . Believe me I was scare I overdosed but in reality it was just a moderate dose and I was UNFAMILIAR WITH THE EFFECTS. I only got this for medical reasons and mostly for anxiety but found the numbing and muscle relaxing effects to be FAR more than I could dream. This herb is like novocane, with xanax and a good muscle relaxer ALL-IN-ONE. Start doses small , BUT TOO ALL WITH PAIN OR PANIC OR STRESS, THIS HERB IS FOR YOU. I thank God I found this herb and its brining relief that I have been praying for. God bless you all!!!

Great for the Price, pleasant experience, the batch I got appears to be “Noble” / True Kava.
Average price for lower grade kava is generally $33/lb plus shipping, so this comes out at quite a bargain. What would worry me is if this product was not of the “noble” variety of kava, which is proven to be safe and health, vs the wild variety which is sometimes mixed into poor grades of kava as filler. I decided to try without testing it, and was immediately surprised by the color and earthy smell and the taste, which is surprisingly pleasant for a kava, but darker than I am use to, and it has a more earthy less peppery smell. Almost reminiscent of pie herbs. The tongans Im use to are usually light in color and mild in taste. However, I have to say I quite enjoyed it as it took the edge off for me and let me wind down and relax using my usual dose of just over 1/2 cup squeezed and then diluted to 2 quarts with some crystal light. Each kava interacts with each person differently, but I quite liked this one. For more on how kava works please visit the kava forums dot com. I then decided to test it using rubbing alcohol (for more on the solvent purity test refer to the forums), where you put a small amount in a clear shot glass and let it sit overnight. The resulting color was yellow (which indicates the pure noble Kava variety), as opposed to red (mixed with wild), or black (wild). I’ve tried to attach a picture, I don’t know if it will come through. The slight brown color is from the kava itself being stirred up when lifting against the white background. Before moving the liquid was all yellow. Thus I have no fears recommending this kava for long term use. I do periodically check my kava batches though to make sure the blend remains the same and of quality. All in all for me this was a calming chill, low energy kava perfect for after a hard day at work. Cheers 50shadesofKava

South Pacific’s Favorite Beverage
We recently made a batch of Kava in the traditional style. My husband was very hesitant, but I went for it. I had a double serving. I did experience the numbing sensation on my tongue for a little while. Within a short time, less than an hour, I had a nice relaxed feeling throughout my body. The sensation was similar to approximately two cocktails. I had gastric surgery last year and I’m not supposed to drink alcohol very much at all. So, this sounded to me a very good alternative to alcohol. Within an additional half hour, while I still remained mentally clear, my body was clearly very relaxed. We watched a few YouTube videos prior to preparing a batch; we did our homework. I slept well that night, which was an unplanned plus. Both of us have medical issues that severely limit alcohol consumption, so this is a welcome alternative to liver toxing alcohol.

This is the first kava I have tried and it’s quite good. You are given quite a lot in this package and it will last a very long time.Kava tastes like weak tea, like the second cup made with a teabag. This product is a powder and will be inert if over 120* for too long. It is not recommended that you drink kava if you are under the age of 18.how I make it:I add two tsp to the foot of a clean nylon and tie with a small plastic band. I add this to a tumbler of coffee and shake. Then I refill, shake and drink. After this one I will squish out the kava with my hands. It will be oily and thick. Usually I drink another 12oz of coffee and kava or until it just feels like mulch.This is what kava does to you: it will make you sleepy, it will dehydrate you, it will make your mouth go numb, it will kill your appetite for a day or two, it will give you a feeling of wellness and relaxation, it will make you ridiculously happy if you are exposed to something good/funny, it will let you think about overwhleming things without being anxious or overwhelmed at all.You should also know that it might cause liver failure and might increase heat rate. Ask your doctor before drinking kava if you are on medication.Finally, kava is non-addictive and doesnt impair thinking. That said, you should not consume more than 8 tablespoons of kava in a day because you are at high risk for going comatose. I believe that kava is a sedative so if you are sensitive to sedatives, be responsible! It will make some people nauseous but this usually can be resolved with smaller doses in the future. Do NOT buy or consume this garbage kava!
Do NOT buy or drink this product!I bought this product as one of my first kava purchases ever. And, if I had not simultaneously bought another, actually reputable kava (Wakacon Kava) at the same time, then I probably would have never tried kava ever again.Now that I am more educated about kava, I realize that this product is (quite literally) the garbage of kavas in every important aspect.The grind, for example … isn’t. There are just giant, unground chunks of root mixed into the same bag with dust-sized fines. The “root” itself was apparently never cleaned before grinding, because the bagged product contains insane amounts of actual dirt mixed in with the root. And the part of the product which is actually root has been so negligently handled before bagging that the normal coloration of noble kava (which is very familiar to experienced users) is completely absent, having been replaced by a sickly yellow-white color. And that’s not even to mention that the post-op bagging handling was apparently so careless that when it arrived at my house it was completely wrinkled up like a sharpei puppy.And those aren’t even the worst problems of this product!No, the worst problem – and the truly unforgivable sin of this product – is that the actual chemical makeup of this sort-of-kava is almost literally the worst possible chemotypes possible for a kava.There are six primary biochemicals in kava root that users are interested in. The ratios between those six are what determine the effects that the prepared kava will have on consumers. Of those six, one of them causes intense nausea. Any “premium noble kava” has been selected to minimize the nausea effect. (The only exceptions to that being rare cultivars that are being used intentionally and specifically for some uncommon purpose. And, even then, with giant warning labels about that purpose.)Over the past few years, kava growers have very intentionally been selecting and marketing tested and quality cultivars. In the process of the reputable merchants refining their offerings, though, the undesirable detritus has been left behind. And, apparently, “Mood & Mind” has found it and decided to sell it to unsuspecting neophytes!This literally-nauseating, trash kava is extremely cheap … Because no one wants it! These unscrupulous “Mood & Mind” people have taken this cheap, nauseating garbage kava, put it into bags, slapped a “premium” label on it, and sold it to the naive for slightly reduced prices.This kava should not be bought or consumed by anyone … unless of course they are intentionally attempting to induce nausea and vomiting. The company that is selling this garbage should be ashamed of itself.And, frankly, Amazon should be ashamed of itself for allowing this unscrupulous company to use its marketplace to sell a poisonous product to neophyte kava buyers.Do NOT buy or consume this product! Go buy kava from a real reputable merchant with actual, tested, certified kava root with known and honestly divulged chemistry. (Here on Amazon, for example, Wakacon puts out a great product. Outside of Amazon, there is Kavafied and Bula and Cactus and many, many more.) But, whatever you do, do NOT consume this product … Even if you have already made the mistake of buying it. It is literally poison that will make you nauseated.

Updated review. I had to increase from 4 stars to 5 because my husband has bought this product about 10 times already so it must mean this is a 5 start product for him. He should probably get one of those Amazon buttons for it, that’s how much he likes it. I also added some pictures of how it is shipped, how he soaks it, and what the powder looks like.Bought this for my husband who was raised in Vanuatu. When it comes to kava he is a true expert and this passed the test. The texture met his needs and he is really particular. If the kava has been ground too fine it isn’t able to be prepared the way he likes it and leave a chalky taste after you drink it. The strength of the kava really met his needs as well. He was able to use less powder to get the effect he was looking for. I think we will be buying this again and will suggest it for other true kava connoisseurs.
