    Great Valerian

    This is quality Valerian. I have tried many brands over the years and this works the best for me. Helps me sleep better.

    I have used this valerian product for years because it is for me the best quality extract pill by far. I have used it successfully for sleep for many years. Far better than valerian root capsules or other products that mix valerian with other herbs, in my opinion.

    A bit of an odd smell

    The Planetary Herbals Full Spectrum Valerian Extract is a bottle of 30 pills. Dosage is one pill daily taken half an hour before bedtime.I was surprised by the size of the pills. They are fairly large but I have no trouble swallowing them.I was also surprised by the smell when I opened the bottle. It’s more odd than unpleasant. The very mild taste was not off-putting for me.Each pill contains “450 mg of a concentrated standardized extract yielding 0.8% valerenic acid, and an additional 200 mg of whole valerian root.”The bottle includes a tamper-resistant seal under the cap for safety, and manufacturing is in California for an established American company. There is a “best used by” date printed on the bottle. These are all factors that give me added confidence when buying herbal supplements.As far as value, these come in at $0.36 per pill. There are other Valerian supplements available for less, but on closer look many of those specify two pills to be taken per dose instead of one and still contain fewer mg of the herb than this Planetary Herbals product does.
