My Blender is Now a Health Guru
MMy relationship with healthy eating is… inconsistent. I saw this vibrant green powder and thought it might be the shortcut I needed, but I was fully prepared for it to taste like a pond. The first whiff when I opened the bag is very earthy and green, which sent a wave of doubt through me.But here’s the magic: when you blend it into a smoothie with some banana and pineapple, it completely transforms. The fruit masks the earthiness, and you’re left with a pleasantly green, slightly sweet drink that just makes you feel like you’re doing something good for your body. It blends smoothly without any grittiness. I’ve been having one for breakfast, and it does keep me full until lunch. I’m really hoping the powder stays fresh in the bag, because I’d like to make this a regular habit. The Green Report:What’s Growing On Me:· It’s an incredibly easy way to pack a powerful nutrient punch into my morning.· Mixed with the right fruits, the taste is actually pleasant and not at all “medicinal.”· It does seem to provide lasting energy without the crash of a sugary breakfast.· A little scoop goes a long way, so the bag should last a while. What Took Some Getting Used To:· On its own, the smell is very potent and vegetal. You absolutely need to mix it with other ingredients.· The vibrant green color is a bit startling at first—it will turn your smoothie a very convincing Shrek-green.This isn’t a magic potion, but it’s a fantastic tool for a health boost. It’s simplified my morning routine and makes me feel like I’m starting the day on the right foot, even if the rest of it goes sideways. My blender has never been so virtuous.

SO much better as a hot, savory drink than as a cold smoothie!
I absolutely love this stuff! I procrastinated on trying it, because I didn’t have blueberries, orange juice and bananas in the house–and, honestly, that’s not really my idea of a good time. I’m not a big sugar-eater, and that seemed like a lot for me. My son was the one who opened the bag to try it–and he mixed it in cold water and instantly hated it. 🙂 I tasted his glass, and initially thought “not terrible.” But, it was savory, and the slightly salty, oceanic flavor of the dulse gave me an idea: I decided to try it warm, with a little additional salt…Holy cow was this good. It got even better when I added just a splash of shoyu. This is what I had for breakfast this morning–a tablespoon of the green powder, mixed with hot water and a little shot of good quality shoyu (use tamari if you want to avoid wheat.) It’s somewhat reminiscent of really good miso soup, which I love. The way I’m preparing it it is super easy to use–a little hot water, a little shoyu, and my milk frother to ensure it blends smoothly. A tablespoon in about 20-24 ounces of hot water gives me a great start to the day, satisfies my hunger and leaves me feeling great. The ingredients are excellent–organic barley grass, organic spirulina and organic dulse. The powder is not clumpy, smells fresh and slightly aquatic, and is a gorgeous deep green color. At the time I ordered this, it was $22.90 for a 6 oz packet, which makes about 15 servings. Each serving comes out to about $1.50–which is a decent value for a breakfast that leaves me satisfied, tastes good, and is healthy. I’m definitely going to order this again, and I’d probably order it again, without regard for the health-benefits of the green detox because it really tastes that good to me!

Really good for you!
This smoothie addition mixes well with my protein powder, peanut butter, and oat milk. It does affect the flavor, but I don’t find it to be off putting. The only ingredient that is included in this mix that sometimes have problems with in terms of flavor is the spirulina. While i can taste it, it is not overpowering, and doesn’t have any negative consequences in terms of flavor. What you get is very good. It is a wonderful medley of supergreens that are know to be very beneficial for the health. It also has the addition of seaweeds that are also very good for you. Dulse is known to be very nutrient dense. With its high iodine content, it is very good for maintaining thyroid health. The spirulina is also nutrient dense and high in protein. Barley greens is also nutrient dense, and is an excellent antioxidant. This is just an all around good powder to add to your protein drink. As I said, the taste (while noticeable) is more mild than others I have consumed. It is a great way to get a lot of greens, and the nutrients they provide, in your first meal of the day.

medical medium approved
big fan of this one for the medical medium cleanses. i use this in the heavy metal detox smoothie. i actually really enjoy the taste, and it has all of the ingredients medical medium suggests. mixes well. they also make a version that has blueberry powder that is more expensive, i was happy to find this one as I use actual blueberries in my medical medium smoothies.

Decent for green powder
On its ow I’d give it 4 stars since you’d end up with a very gritty earthy drink if you mix it in just water or juice. If you mix it into a more complex smoothie with fruit, protein, etc, then I’d give it 5 stars since you can’t taste it and the texture is masked. With that out of the way, for my use in smoothies it works well and blends easily. It’s hard to tell if there’s noticeable benefits but I always add some kind of green powder to my smoothies for an added boost. For extra greens it’s good. As a detox, not so sure. The health benefits you get from this are likely small but is a great addition to a well rounded diet and supplement stack.

Organic and convenient to use
This powder combines barley grass juice powder, spirulina, and dulse into one mix. The overall product seems reasonably well-made, though because everything is blended together, it’s hard to evaluate the quality of each ingredient on its own.If you’re someone who follows specific ratios for these three ingredients (for example, a certain popular protocol online), the proportions here do not match the intended ratio so you would need a bag of your own dulse to add more. That was one of the main drawbacks for me, since I normally add each ingredient separately and can match the recommended amounts precisely. The convenience angle is definitely the product’s main appeal. It’s quick to use, and the biodegradable bag is a nice touch. That said, the bag contains roughly 15 servings, so the cost per serving ends up fairly high for something I typically mix myself. Because of that—and because I prefer assessing the quality of the individual ingredients—it’s not the best value for my personal routine. The only scenario where I could see myself using this is travel, but even then, the recipe I follow requires fresh items that I’m unlikely to track down on the road, so the convenience benefit doesn’t quite pan out for me.As for flavor, it’s worth noting that the spirulina + dulse combo has a distinctly ocean-like taste. That’s normal for these ingredients, but anyone new to this kind of blend should be prepared for it.Overall, it’s a convenient option if you want all three ingredients in one scoop, but it seems a little expensive for 15 servings and still needing to add more dulse for my specific recipe/protocol ratio. For me personally, buying them individually still works better.

Organic Detox Smoothie Mix
This detox blend comes in a vacuum sealed package and includes a batch number as well as an expiration date. The color is a green powder and it smells terrible. It is a fine powder that has a silky quality. However, the recommended amount is one tablespoon, which is minimal and easy to add into my blender. I didn’t even taste it in my smoothie. I believe the health benefits are high when used as directed.

Just three healthy ingredients to rev up your smoothies
Barley, dulse, spirulina powder is made specifically to add to smoothies. If you want to take it daily, that is probably what you should do although I imagine you could mix it into something like oatmeal or yogurt but it would turn very dark green. It is a good clean and healthy product with just three ingredients. It smells like fresh greens upon opening, a scent not everyone will like. I’m glad it isn’t so processed as to be deodorized. They list a tasty recipe for your blender on the back of the package. But of course you could add it into any flavor smoothie of your choice. It is ultra dark green so no matter what kind of smoothie you make, it will end up very green as you can see with mine. Mine was made with papaya, strawberries, passionfruit, and a banana. The liquid I added was diluted Jamaican sorrel tea. I also added a touch of honey. This is not something you would add to your coffee. It is easy to use in a smoothie, I feel good about using it, and I think it’s a good value for the amount you get.
