Pycnogenol is the US trademarked name for an antioxidant made from the bark of a maritime pine found primarily in southwestern France. It is used to help people with asthma, allergies, hay fever, and other health conditions. WebMD has a more thorough write up about its uses.The thing I noticed most about this version of pycnogenol is that it has a much higher potency than other brands on the market. Most vendors offer capsules in 30mg, 60mg & 100mg. At 150mg this far exceeds all the others. If you’re here specifically looking for a high potency capsule this certainly fits the bill. Naturally before you begin taking any supplements you should consult with your doctor to make sure there aren’t any contraindications to taking it with other medications.

NOW is a brand that I trust
Now is a brand that I trust and therefor I use several of their products. I am glad they use the patented formula called pycnogenol instead of the generic “pine bark.” There is some debate as to if there is any difference. I take this formulation because with my advancing age and health challenges, I need all the resources I can use to lower inflamation and improve quality of life. This is a safe product from a very trusted, no nonsense brand I trust. With the seriousness medical issues I endure, I cannot say that I get any substantial relief of the pain I endure; it just seems to help take the “edge” off of them.

High concentration from a trustworthy brand.
It’s always tough to review supplements–especially ones that aren’t supposed to have any immediate impact. NOW, as far as I’m concerned, is a trustworthy brand. They’ve been around, and I have purchased other products from them without any issues.If you think Pycnogenol is for you, then I think this one is most likely one of your better choices out there.Other reviews have talked about what it is and what it might be good for, but when I saw something could positively impact eyes, skin, joints and vascular functions, I figured what the heck—I recently broke my thumb and am in rehab largely to get as most motion and function out of those joints as possible. I have no way of proving that this will help, but I have nothing to lose to give it a shot. The pills smell pretty crazy (piney pepper), but the capsules have no discernible taste and go down nice and easy.The price is indeed high, but doing a little research I found that this is just a fairly expensive supplement in general. At least with NOW you can be pretty confident you’re getting a quality product.Before taking any supplements, make sure you look up potential side effects, impacts on/with prescribed medications, etc. This one seemed like a safe bet for me, so let’s go thumb joints!

This Pycnogenol is good, with a high content of ingredients, and it also contains turmeric powder and grape seed extract. Dr. Berg said it can prevent the formation of new plaques and stabilize existing carotid artery plaques, so I bought this along with Centella Asiatica and Vitamin K2, hoping to see amazing results in a year’s checkup.

They are packaged in the US, but the ingredients are globally sourced.Final Verdict:It’s always hard to determine the effectiveness of a supplement short term, but so far these pills seem like a good addition to my turmeric routine.
