Not a part of my daily supplement, but it keeps my cholesterol under control without statins and radical diet plans. I only take it when I eat meat, or other high cholesterol or trans fat content. Use this, and avoid sugary and high carbs, it’ll help you lose weight, as well.I regularly go my doctor to have my glucose and cholesterol checked because of my “always” borderline blood pressure (runs in the family).Still no need for meds, except 5mg of Lisinopril for my blood pressure.If you’re allergic to shellfish, this is something to avoid unless you want to force yourself to develop an immune system to it.I did… eating crabs since a kid, being stubborn even with the allergic reactions to it. Worth it for me for the most part
I can certainly see a difference when I stopped taking these. I quickly gained back the two pounds I lost in a month although haven’t had a cholesterol test when I was off them to see what difference stopping them made. I first used chitosan more than a decade ago in the hopes of bringing down my bad cholesterol. I eat somewhat paleo for many years and didn’t want to start filling up on on a lot of processed carbs and dumping my satisfying good fats (coconut oil, ghee, whole eggs, etc.) and meat once a day. Back then, the chitosan maintained my weight and my bad cholesterol went down while good cholesterol stayed good. But they stopped carrying it in stores and well I just cut back on the meat and good fats while filling up on those nasty processed carbs. I had a bad cholesterol test this summer anyway and decided to try and look for this on the internet. I used it for my one meat meal a day for several weeks and my bad cholesterol went down and I even lost two pounds as a bonus.But I am horrible at taking large pills. And frankly, I just stopped because I didn’t want to have to try and down three of these and a vitamin C (recommended for use with chitosan) before even just one meal a day. I seriously have a really bad time with swallowing large capsules. Gained back the two pounds I lost so am making an effort again to wash these down. If you don’t have trouble with large capsules, go for it. I am going to try as I do feel they made a positive impact and allowed me to eat more of my healthy satisfying fats and meat for at least one meal a day.There is also the slight “fishy” indigestion that might bother some people. I don’t find it that much of a problem for me. Some people might be bothered by constipation as well if you follow a low carb/fiber. You might want to up your fiber a bit if you are prone to such. All in all, it is worth another effort at pill swallowing for me at least.

Had no idea what to expect when I started these but at the risk of TMI, I had awful IBS symptoms for about 6 years then found CBD oil, which after about a month of consistent use completely resolved the pain and cramping issues. Two years in I read about chitosan and its fat-binding properties and decided to give it a go. I noticed on day 2 that my mornings were way more comfortable, and um voluminous and um… far more floaty.I did find some research that showed Crohn’s patients often see relief from chitosan due to its sequestering fat in the bowels, which made me feel a lot better since I was concerned that fat not absorbed by the small intestine would cause problems in the large intestine.I basically take 2-3 pills when having a high-fat meal to avoid missing essential fat-soluble nutrients.

I have only taken this a few days, but I just have to tell you….IT WORKS!I have taken 6 capsules at my main meal of the day as directed by my Life Extension treatment book and have experienced easy bowel movements like I used to have when younger instead of sitting on the toilet 15 minutes with poor or no movement…I am 75 years old and have had constipation problems for the past 15 years or so, even after taking Miralax every night or early mornings on an empty stomach.I’ll give another report in a month or so….Thanks Amazon for your great price and fast Prime delivery.

Helps cut the fat from your food
So like a lot of us I don’t always eat the best for myself. I found Chitosan years ago and fell in love with it. If you have a shellfish allergy then AVOID this otherwise it’s a great way to help cut fat from your diet. It’s been around a lot longer than the RX products that do the same, what does it do? It absorbs fats from your foods so that your body doesn’t digest them. I take them with a high fat meal and personally I believe it helps.
