When I first read about this product I was very skeptical. Then I researched – for hours, everything I could find on Lithium Orotate & I couldn’t believe that it could, or would, do everything Dr.’s & other research & studies said it would do. I was intrigued, so I tried it. If you do nothing else to improve your ‘well being’, you must try this. I feel wonderful!!! I had been feeling very anxious, short tempered, almost like I was just ‘waiting’ for some catastrophe. (Hard to explain, but it was just a prevailing feeling of ‘angst’).Then I tried this product. Almost immediately I just felt “good”!! Happier, ‘life’ just didn’t seem so ‘heavy’, things were manageable. My first night taking it I actually went to bed, fell asleep in a short time & slept – the whole night! My mind was at peace & I was able to sleep & wake up totally refreshed & feeling in control. I’m very pleased!
I take this for bipolar depression, 1 twice per day. The Rx meds for depression make me manic, put me in a mixed state or I have unbearable side effects or allergies. I felt a big difference after only 4 days. The depression lifted and I had much more motivation. Before this there were a lot of days I would only make it from the bed to the couch and back. Now I’m much more interested in life and don’t have to completely and miserably force myself to do every little thing. I actually want to do things and everything doesn’t feel completely overwhelming anymore.It hasn’t covered the anxiety like I’d hoped so I may increase the dose and see if it helps. I’ve been on it for only a little over a week and the difference is amazing as far as the depression.I’m still on some prescription meds so I called a pharmacist to make sure there were no interactions with lithium, there were none.If I don’t take it with food I get a little nauseated and have had some diarrhea. If I take it with meals this does not happen.I plan to order again and stay on it as long as it works…I have a fear that it’ll quit working like the Rx meds do. I’ll update if anything changes but as of now I’m very happy with this product.

Great for mood and neuroprotective!
Lithium orotate is an important mineral, and many of us are deficient. It helps mood and is neuroprotective. We’ve been really pleased with this product. My daughter won’t swallow capsules, but these tablets work for her, and if necessary can easily be cut in half. My ideal dose turned out to be 20 mg (4 of these tablets), so I have since moved on to the 20 mg capsules by another brand – also purchased on Amazon. Lithium orotate has helped my treatment-resistant depression and anxiety from PTSD more than any antidepressant ever could (I’ve failed about 30). It has helped my daughter in a similar way. Between this product and l-methylfolate, my depression and anxiety are finally controlled. I only give this product 4 stars because I wish it didn’t have certain additives.

Helpful for anxiety but also made me very moody/irritable
I originally gave this five stars but my opinion has since changed. This could definitely work for some people and this is just my experience/opinion. I liked it at first because I have horrible anxiety and I was very nervous about the start of a new semester in college. To make a long story short, I was obsessing over seeing a girl who I had a terrible group project experience with in which we had to sit down and have a mediation with our professor. I did not know if she would be in any of my classes but since we are in the same major, you tend to see the same people. Anyway, I had not received this supplement until the second week of school but she was not in any of my classes anyway(this does have a point, just stay with me here). I was excited to try this because I battle anxiety on a daily basis (so she was not the only reason I was nervous, it was just something that added to my anxiety) and have been looking for something to replace prescription medication.I had been on it for about a week and a half and then BOOM I went to one of my classes and realized I was sitting right across from her (it was a class of about 15 people). I was really shocked because she wasnt there the first two weeks of class but oddly I barely felt anything. I am positive that this was due to the lithium oratate. If I would have seen her the first week I think I would have walked out of class. So basically I think it helped a lot with the obsessive thoughts and nervousness that was such a huge part of my everyday life.However, it finally clicked in my head that I had been way more moody and quick to anger than usual. I don’t want to say I felt more depressed than usual because I was not crying more or feeling sad I just wasn’t happy. I’m a quiet person but I was being much more standoffish than usual and I was cold to friends and family when I really didn’t want to be. In my head I would feel bad but it was like I couldn’t control it. I just couldn’t make myself be friendly because I was so over-the-top irritable.About two weeks ago I finally realized that this supplement may have been the culprit. Lithium is mostly used for manic episode (I think) for bipolar disorder so I think it was suppressing my ability to feel happy and conversational. I stopped taking it and it was either the next day or the one after that that I was overly giddy and silly while playing a board game with my friends. This was definitely more like how I normally am with them but it was more extreme than usual.After those first few days I went back to a normal level of happiness: I can have conversations with my mom again without being annoyed and angry like I had been for so long. I will never take this stuff on a regular basis but seeing as how it did help with some of my anxiety issues I may see how it works on an “as needed” basis like the prescription medication. It’s definitely not as bad as the anger, tiredness, and irritability I feel after that stuff wears off so I’m hoping it can work for me in that way. I don’t want to try this theory out for awhile though because I’ve been feeling so much better without it right now.For anyone else looking for something to help with anxiety and depression problems, I recently got magnesium, vitamin D3, and choline and inositol supplements off amazon. I just started them but if you look into them, they are supposed to have some helpful effects. so far I think it is helping.

Okay, this pill is not a wonder drug by any means but it does its job effectively. I have been diagnosed with Cyclothymic Disorder (kind of like bi-polar, just not as severe). In the past I have taken Zoloft, Paxil, Paxil CR, Tegretol, Depakote, Risperdal, Zyorexa, Topomax, Prozac, and Symbyax. All of these drugs worked for a period of time, but they either lost their effectiveness, or the side effects were too much. The best, in my opinion was Symbyax, but of course it had the worse side effects in weight gain, sleepiness, lack of motivation, and a sense of being lost at times. So I decided to stop using any of these drugs, and searched for something OTC or natural to help calm my CD.That’s when I found Lithium Orotate. I was very skeptical of trying this, because some people with mental disorders will exaggerate the effectiveness of a drug, and be victim to the placebo effect. Which in my opinion is fine if it helps ease the symptoms of their disorder, but I digress. So, I honestly went in with an almost negative mindset, thinking to myself this would not work, and I would have to go back to my doctor for another prescription trial and error. I could not have been more wrong. This drug hasn’t changed my life by any means, but it has made my life a lot easier.Lithium Orotate honestly just takes that edge off of everything. I still have the ability to get upset, angry, pessimistic, overly confident, somewhat manic, etc. but it is a more controlled version of my feelings and mental state. It almost feels like I am normal person, if that makes any sense. For example lets use a 1-10 system to classifying feelings where 1 is no care at all in anything, and 10 being to the point of caring beyond the limits of a normal human. Instead of going all the way to a 10 when I was off medication, or all the way to a 1 when I was on medication, I stay around a 5, sometimes peaking at a 7 and sometimes dropping to a 3. I feel as though I am experiencing emotions the way I feel like normal people should.I typically just take 2 a day, usually at night after I eat, about 1-2 hours before bed. It does not effect my sleep in a positive or negative way. I have not tried taking this in the morning, just because I have always been hesitant of taking any possible mood altering drug before I begin my day. I have two negative side effects. The first is I have noticed is some days I wake up with a nausea, and once every couple weeks I have experienced slight vomiting. I can not for certain say its because of the Lithium Orotate, because I have experienced this in the past, but it seems since taking this it has increased. The second thing I have noticed is I experience some occasional diarrhea, which I can only chalk up to the Lithium Orotate. Regardless of these side effects, I think they are manageable in comparison to the side effects I have received due to prescriptions.Overall this medication is great for me. I feel confident in its effects to combat Cyclothymia, but I do question it’s effectiveness against stronger mental disorders. This is really dependent on the person. I hope this honest review helps others to try this to help even them out.*UPDATE*I have been on this for nearly 2 months now, and the nausea and diarrhea have subsided. After reading up on LO, these side effects are common, and they usually disappear after continuous use. I have also noticed that 2 tablets a day do not do the trick anymore, so I have increased my dosage to 2 pills in the evening, and 2 pills in the morning. I have noticed that this dose works perfectly for me, with no side effects. My only concern is will I have to up my dose again in 2 months. But that is always a concern when taking a mood altering drug. It takes time to figure out dosage. I am currently at 18.4 mg of Elemental Lithium a day, which is still in the safe zone. Most doctors believe that anything under 30-40 mg per day is safe, so I would not recommend going over that. I have noticed a slight increase in weight, roughly a 2% increase, which is negligible. I will continue to monitor this and see if it continues.

Lithium helps my insomnia
I bought this two years ago. I bought these pills and also a liquid form of lithium at the same time. Then for some reason just put them aside and forgot them. Then recently I heard that lithium might help with insomnia.I have very stable moods. I almost never get angry or sad. But I have terrible insomnia. I’ve been to the doctor about it many, many times including a sleep specialist with no help whatever.The only thing I found which helped me sleep was to eat A LOT at dinner time and ALSO eat at bedtime. And, if I failed to to do those things I would wake after a couple of hours and remain awake for the rest of the night often getting no more than 2 hours of sleep at night.You can gain a lot of weight eating in the night after waking. I gained over 70 pounds in just a few months. Eating in the night after waking is guaranteed to put on 1 to 3 pounds a day for me. (Yes I do mean a day.) It is not water weight. It does not just go away later. And for reasons I do not understand eating the exact same thing at bedtime does not have the same weight gaining effect. I have tested this many times. I am quite sure that is true. Very strange.In recent times I have tried to compensate for the need to eat at bedtime by not starting to eat until noon or even 5:00 pm. I have found that if I start eating like this (which amounts to intermittent fasting), I can eat at bedtime and still lose weight. Of course my diabetic counselor objects to this. But I have to follow what my body can do.A further insomnia complication is that I seem to have “going to sleep times” when I can fall asleep. If I hit the right time I will fall asleep effortlessly, within seconds. If I miss the sleep time (about 9:30-10:00 pm) I am awake until the next one in the middle of the night almost without regard to what sleep aids I might take.My Dad had the same waking in the night problem. So it is inherited. He used to routinely take a snack with him to bed, a banana or a sandwich. And the last few days of his life he was not able to sleep at all. I’m sure that contributed to his heart stopping.Bipolar problems run in my family. Neither I, my Dad or my sister got that. But an aunt and cousins did. It makes me think that my insomnia might be somehow related. That was why my ears perked up when I heard insomnia improvement linked to lithium. (I no longer remember where.)So I tried it. The first night I took a whole tablet. I slept the whole night very, very soundly. It felt like a miracle.Then I tried 5 drops of the liquid. The sleep was sound.I skipped it one night and woke in the night as usual. I took the pill upon waking in the night. It had no effect on my sleep. From that I conclude it is not initiating sleep.My preliminary conclusions are that:A. I still must go to bed at the (for me) normal bedtime. Lithium addresses the waking in the night problem but not the falling asleep problem.B. I can starve myself to lose weight as long as I don’t go to bed hungry. Whatever I do eat, I have to eat within a short time before bed.C. Not mentioned above, whatever I eat has to be either protein or carbs. Eating fat will not help me sleep. I can eat as much butter and peanut butter as I like without improving my sleep at all.

I have been buying this brand of Lithium Orotate for at least four years. They dissolve very easily. Sometimes, they start to dissolve in my mouth before I get them swallowed if I don’t wash them down right away. I’m not sure it that’s the way it’s supposed to be taken, by dissolving in the mouth, but sometimes I do it that way on purpose. Most of the time I just swallow them. They don’t seem to have a strong taste. I have not taken it continuously, mainly because sometimes I run out and am not able to buy it again right then, even though the cost is very reasonable in my opinion. I don’t remember where I read the recommended amount, since it was so long ago, but at the time I figured out that by weight I should be taking 8 of the small tablets daily, due to extreme obesity. So, that’s the amount I usually take unless I am close to running out. The main things I take it to help me with is my heart and anxiety. It does seem to do a good job with that. I don’t have the feeling like I’m getting ready to have a heart attack when taking it, at least not like without, especially once I’ve gotten several doses in my system. The anxiety also seems much better. I’m not sure if the feeling that my heart is doing better is what helps the anxiety or if it’s the anxiety doing better that helps me not to feel like an impending or early heart attack. Since it’s supposed to be good for both, I don’t guess it matters which it is. Of course, when I have them, I will also take other supplements for my heart, like Vitamin E, Vitamin A & D3, magnesium, etc. The Lithium Orotate helps me feel even better than just when I’m taking the other supplements. I would recommend them to anyone, whether you have these problems or not. I consider it good for your general health.
