Excellent supplement, affordable price
I don’t usually take a calcium supplement, because I drink very hard (high calcium) water and my diet is rich in calcium (not from dairy, from dark green leafy vegetables and other whole food sources). But this was offered as an Amazon Vine product so I thought I would check it out.It’s really formulated as a bone health supplement because it contains not just calcium but also magnesium and D3 along with boron and K12. It’s missing the potassium that would complete the bone health formula, but to include it the capsules would have to be far larger than they are. Most people believe they are covered with their potassium supplement, until they read the label and find 2 tablets will give you only 2% of the DV. Sweet potatoes, bananas, kale, spinach, beets, and broccoli (all of which I eat every day) will easily supply you with the potassium. So I’m glad it’s not included.This contains two forms of calcium, one of which is calcium ascorbate. When that breaks down, you have calcium and ascorbic acid. The latter is Vitamin C, so that’s in there too. This is sourced from red algae, about which I have read many positive things. Glycine doesn’t appear on the label, but boron glycinate is the form of boron in this product. When boron glycinate breaks down, you get boron and glycine. The latter is a very important amino. If you read about its functions, you might be amazed at the various roles it plays. I supplement with glycine, and now I also get it from this Algae-Calcium Plus prouct.Algae-Calcium Plus has been subjected to safety testing, for example it’s tested for arsenic, lead, and mercury (among other poisons). That is very reassuring. Even the amounts of D3, calcium, and magnesium have been laboratory certified. No false claims from a supplement company, astounding!There’s nothing excessive about this supplement, which is unusual in the supplement industry these days. It’s a good addition to anyone’s supplement program.The best time to take this is probably after your last meal of the day, because the calcium and magnesium will not only help you sleep but also help you have a smooth BM in the morning.
