Good value for the money

I was looking for selenium in my local health food store and found that the capsules there were all too many mcg’s so I came to Amazon and found this. It is true that it smells a little but even having a super sensitive nose like I do I can still manage to handle this. I can’t tell you that it’s working 100% yet, only time will tell that, but I can tell you that my parents oncologist suggested selenium supplements and then when doing my research I found it that there is possible evidence that it prevents cancer so I decided to take it as well. Better pevention than looking for a cure! Good value for the money.

Selenium was named after the moon goddess, Selene, by the Swedish chemist Jons Jakob Berzelius in 1817. Dr. Klaus Schwarz established selenium as an essential nutrient for animals in 1957, but the first selenium function in humans wasn’t discovered until 1973. When you consume selenomethionine supplements, your body recognizes the selenium as the amino acid methionine and immediately incorporates it in into its protein stores. In fact, taking selenomethionine supplements results in plasma selenium stores twice as high as equivalent doses of non-organic selenium supplements such as selenate, according to the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database.Selenium supplements such as selenomethionine are considered safe and well-tolerated when consumed in doses not exceeding the tolerable upper intake — 400 micrograms daily. The reviewers here thatleave bad reviews for a selemium/selenomethionine supllement like this, mostly because they believe the ‘odor’ of the product is bad, are for the most part clueless. Hold your nose, if you must, and swallow the capsule. You won’t taste a thing.

Answer to smell

Too soon to give stars so right now its 3. This is my 1st bottle and like other comments mine had a terrible smell. I went to natures way website and asked them directly and this was their response :”I understand that you are concerned with the smell of this product. I am happy to help in any way that I can. Our Quality Assurance department has reviewed this occurrence in the past and their results are below.Reserve bulk samples from the complaint lot as well as from other lots were inspected. All lots were found to have a similar odor with some normal variation between lots. Prior to production, the raw materials used in this lot were laboratory tested to confirm purity and potency. After production, this lot underwent additional laboratory testing before the product was made available for sale. All lab tests were within specification. An odor is normal for this product and is not an indication of an issue with the quality of the product. If the complaint bottle was exposed to high heat and humidity it could cause an increased odor compared to bottles that were not exposed to the same heat and humidity”.
