Just started a few weeks ago. With Metformin 500 bid. Type 2. Haven’t been able to do regular exercise lately. Taking this bid. Diet iffy last few days. Inspite of carbs at lunch and peanut butter cookie this aft, checked BG and was quite low! Lowest in a while. Very pleased. They make very good products,esp being German owned(Schwabe). Good value from a reputable company
I ordered this as part of the Amazon Vine program. I am not paid to endorse it. This is my honest review of this product.Since I have only had supplement for about a month I can’t vouch for its long term effects. I can say that it has no taste, I don’t burp it up, it doesn’t have an odor and it is easy to swallow. I have been taking two capsules a day and it has been effective for decreasing my sugar cravings. They are not completely gone but much better. I think it will be even more effective if I increase the dose to the usual dose of 1,500 mg I believe it will be even better. I haven’t noticed any weight loss yet.I appreciate that it has cinnamon. That is a nice addition to the berberine.I think these are a good value fit the money. They are in line with what other companies charge and Nature’s Way is a well know brand that has been around for over 50 years.

Not Bad – But Formula Could Be Stronger
This Nature’s Way Berberine is a good product.These capsules are large, but not so much so that one would find difficulty swallowing them. The capsule material is plant-based, making these capsules suitable for vegetarians and vegans.The formula is good, although not quite as potent as generally recommended. These capsules contain 500mg of Berberine, plus 50mg of cinnamon, and the directions advise the user to take 1 capsule per day. That is rather low, considering that the recommended daily dosage of Berberine for weight control is 1,000-1,500mg per day.The added cinnamon adds a beneficial effect on controlling blood glucose, but I’m afraid that the instructed dose of 1 capsule per day will not render much noticeable improvement.I have been taking these for a few weeks now at that dosage, and I have not seen any difference. I have not, however, experienced any gastric upset, nor any other negative effects from them.Although this Nature’s Way Berberine formula is somewhat weak, I would not suggest taking more than the product label recommends without first discussing it with your healthcare provider or a qualified herbalist.

Appreciate the cinnamon inclusion
I have used berberine for years when preparing for prolonged fasts. Generally I take berberine for the final two days of eating and the first day of fasting, to make sure that I switch from glucose to ketones as rapidly as possible to get the most out of each fast day. Berberine actually measurably drops my blood glucose quicker than when I eat the same meal and don’t take berberine.One thing that makes berberine kinda hard to use is how hungry it makes me. A couple hours after the meal, when normally I’d still be full, I will feel ravenously hungry instead. Basically, the berberine strips away the glucose and I’m still in a fed state with insulin preventing ketosis, so I get really hungry as a result. Cinnamon helps suppress my appetite so I appreciate its inclusion in these pills. Now, because I am fully aware that it is in these capsules and it’s therefore not a blinded study, I cannot say whether my lower appetite is just a placebo effect or whether the cinnamon really is chemically making me feel less hungry, but honestly it doesn’t matter since it’s achieving the goal either way.The dosage in these capsules is appropriate and works for me. I’m used to the slight stomach upset it causes (similar to consuming a lot of tannins, like really strong tea–this can be a little nauseating for folks like me, with sensitive stomachs, or it can be a total non-issue, for those with stronger stomachs). The capsules are huge and for me they’re hard to swallow, but I only take them for 3 days a month when getting into a 5 day fast, so it’s doable. Definitely easier to take these than to drink berberine tea!
