To avoid any confusion as to the product description herein under review, the actual product description as posted by the seller on his Amazon marketing webpage is: Nature’s Life Lutein 20 mg | 60 ct.Price-point during this review: $27.99.As a longtime user and deep believer in the many benefits of vitamin/herb better health supplements, I’ve acquired many different varieties of them in order to fulfill my daily required regimen of these types of products.Accordingly, as a gold-rated member of Amazon’s Vine Voice reviewer program, I’ve been fortunate to have access to many different variants of these types of products – – with many of the specific categories being those I’m quite familiar with and others that are new to me. Since I have a bit of a relatively minor issue in one of my eyes, I naturally jumped at the opportunity to acquire this eye-friendly item when offered to me – – albeit the fact I’d already been taking other lutein supplements for years.As I’ve often stated in my many previous reviews of vitamin products I’ve sampled and tested, they’re the most difficult to review because of the obvious newly-introduced interactive conflicts they can cause with many other vitamins and herbs I’ve been taking daily for decades. No other product causes such uncertainty when “in play” as how can anyone possibly isolate the implied benefits of a specific “newcomer” when so many other member-types of my chosen vitamin supplement family are also working in unison in my body?So, the best solution for this dilemma that I’ve “come to grips with” is to commence taking this newly-offered supplement on a graduated basis from a moderate intake (that is, perhaps every other, or third day) with a slow increase to more often once no apparent, nor ill effects are noticed coincidental to my commencement of taking it. In this case, this lutein product is targeted most specifically for the eyes, so any changes and improvements in my eye health as a result will be easier to isolate.With my above declaration so stated, allow me to enumerate some of the more purported benefits of the lutein/eye connection along with the proviso that should I encounter anything significant (either of a negative or positive nature), I pledge to return to update/edit this review to reflect such a development if it arises. That’s all I can offer at this early juncture in time, as vitamins can only be fully assessed over an appreciable amount of time and testing. So, here I go with some of the more accepted benefits of this specific offering of a lutein supplement:1) I’ve already been using lutein for my eyes for many years. I do so on a daily basis, as I’ve come to fully trust some of the brands I’ve tried. This new product should hopefully be competitive and consistent with what I’ve been used to (which is why I’ve agreed to newly introduce it into my vitamin routine).2) The 20mg lutein dosage per each softgel (out of just a minimally scant 60 total softgel offering, as I’m used to all my chosen sellers in the past providing a much more generous minimum of 90-120 pieces per bottle) is just about consistent with placing in the “middle of the pack” as they can range anywhere from 10mg up to 40mg of lutein per softgel or capsule.3) Price-point-wise, given the average, basic dosage this product offers, it tends to make me think it’s a bit pricey, especially with the meager 60 offered softgels.4) Zeaxanthin is another vital eye supplement that often “goes hand in hand” with lutein vitamin offerings. I assume it must be much more costly to produce because the dosage-numbers are always significantly less than that of the primary lutein constituent. Accordingly, in this seller’s presentation, the zeaxanthin content comes in at a very disappointing, meager, miniscule 860mcg (or 0.86, or less than just 1 mg per softgel). I’m shocked at that paltry amount, especially when any of my other lutein/zeaxaanthin combo offerings have always come in with an absolute zeaxanthin minimum starting from 3mg. IMO, this makes this vendor’s selling price even more pricey than my previous response in item #3 above.5) As is the case with such small softgels, they’re super-easy to swallow and digest and leave little, or no after-taste.6) Based on my above-mentioned explanation re the implied difficulty in rating a new vitamin’s merit after only a short period of testing, I’m going to give this Amazon vendor the “benefit-of-the-doubt” at this early stage by affixing a 4 stars rating – – with the stipulation I will return if anything of note develops with my continued use of this product. I’ve been forced to dock the 1 star because of the appallingly-low amount of the vital zeaxanthin in this offering.

So far… so good! But really too soon to know the full impact of this product.

I’ve been taking this Nature’s Life Lutein/Zeaxanthin supplement for a little under a week now. So far, I am happy with it. The softgels are small, easy to swallow, and you can take them at any time of the day or night. All you need is one per day. I am heading into my mid 50’s, so now seemed like a good time to give an eye health supplement a try, especially as I spend a lot of time working on the computer. I do give my eyes a break though, and I almost always shield my eyes from the sun. But I know as we get older our eyes can use a boost, beyond just protecting them from the sun (and eating lots of carrots, which I do, LOL!). I take this supplement to replenishing the levels of Lutein for maximum eye health. The goal here is to keep my vision as sharp as possible, for as long as possible. I also want as much protection from both ultraviolet and harmful blue light as is possible. Research does indicate that Lutein/Zeaxanthin help to repair damage associated with blue light, and also reduces eye fatigue. It’s really too soon to tell if this will make much of a difference as I would not really expect to notice much of change in the short term. Then again, maybe it is my own strong personal belief that supplements do work, or maybe it is just the placebo effect, but I feel it IS working already. I have been working on two large projects all week, and unfortunately have spent hours up close and personal with my computer whilst doing so. Most of that time, even using a magnifying glass! And I DO notice that my eyes are not straining as much and feel less tired afterwards than they usually do. Seems to be a promising start, and I will look forward to comparing my eyes as they are today to my eyes in another month or two. Fingers crossed! To be honest though, this particular supplement (and other brands) of Lutein/Zeaxanthin) are expensive. And I don’t think that the vast majority of people could afford to buy these supplements, at least not for the long haul. I did not pay for these in exchange for this review. And being transparent, I don’t think I could afford to stay on them for much longer after this initial order runs out. Maybe I could stock up if/when they are on sale!? Also, please note… the UPC sticker was placed on the product directly over the area that has the expiration or “use-by” date, and further instructions/information. Not sure if this is Amazon or the manufacturer, but that is a bad place to put the sticker as you cannot see the expiration date! And I could not get the sticker off without taking the label underneath off along with it!
