Basic clean supplement
These are small little gel caps of D3 and K2. I usually take these at night with my nighttime supplements including calcium. There is a 4-month supply in this bottle so I don’t have to worry about getting these two supplements for almost half a year. There’s no funny smells coming through the gel caps and they’re very easy to swallow. They’re not your normal oil clear tablets though, they are a beige opaque color. Best of all you only have to take one a day. These are free from many allergens like shellfish and gluten and they are not genetically modified.

Easy to Use, Good Dose
Like many people, I realized I needed more vitamin D in my life, so I’ve started taking a range of vitamins including this product. This is a dual vitamin product containing 2500 IU’s of Vitamin D3 and 120 mcg of Vitamin K2. The product says its from plant-based sources and has a clean label formula and is non-GMO.This product contains 120 soft gels which is a 4 month supply. The soft gels are small and easily swallowed. The amount of active ingredients in the product is good giving 313% of your vitamin D3 and 100% of your K2. The other ingredients in the product are excellent choices: olive oil, rosemary extract, gelatin, glycerin, water, and color from titanium dioxide. The product also boasts its free of egg, soy, corn, shellfish, peanuts, wheat sugar and year, as well as being dairy and gluten free, if any of those things are important to you.The reason I took a star off is because the front of the bottle clearly says, From Plant-Based Sources. That should mean, both vitamins are plant derived. However, the label suggests otherwise. The vitamin K2 is from fermented chickpeas, so that checks out. However the vitamin D3 is from lanolin. Lanolin is the wax from sheep wool. While it is generally considered vegetarian friendly because the animal is not killed to extract the lanolin, the last time I checked, sheep are not plants.Overall, the origin of the vitamins isn’t a big concern to me, but may be to others. The forms of the vitamins are excellent choices and ensure high bioavailability. The only other things to say about this product is that it is on the higher side when it comes to cost being a few pennies more per pill than other products that offer similar or higher doses, so you might want to shop around unless there is something that draws you to this product over others.

For when you just can’t get enough sun
A simple combo with an array of benefits. You can’t stress enough how important vitamin D is. Most of us can usually get enough through our bodies natural production when we have enough sun exposure and a healthy diet. For those of us that can’t seem to get outside enough it helps to have something like this as an option. Just got back from a trip to Alaska and that’s a prime example of a place where this stuff can be invaluable come winter, when the sun can be hard to come by. Easy to take. Haven’t had any noticeable negative side effects so far, and it’s good to know my body has an extra source of sunshine.

Labelling issues make me wary of this product
The front label advertises this as “From Plant-Based Sources” with a “Clean Label Formula.” However, if you turn the bottle around and read the Supplement Facts panel, the Vitamin D3 is explicitly listed as: Vitamin D3 (as Cholecalciferol from Lanolin).I am not an expert, but from reading online, Lanolin is sheep’s wool grease—it is an animal byproduct. True plant-based D3 comes from lichen or algae. While the K2 is plant-derived (fermented chickpeas), slapping “From Plant-Based Sources” on the front of a lanolin-based D3 product makes me worry about taking anything from the same vendor and this might be very upsetting to some who have moral objections to animal based products. If this is you, you might want to do your own research.The dosage is 2,500 IU of D3 paired with 120 mcg of K2 (MK-7) seems to be quite reasonable as a daily supplement.I keep this in the fridge because the softgels don’t do well when they get too hot.

Softgels are easy to swallow
I really like this form factor which makes the product easy to swallow. I also like that the daily dosage is one softgel. So many vitamins use filler and require two or more units per day.The label claims third party tested, but it doesn’t say who that third party was. It also gives the distributor’s US-based address, but the label does not indicate the country of manufacture. Would be nice to know that information.Knocking off one star for somewhat vague labelling and the pricing seems a bit high compared to the competition. Otherwise, this seems to be a decent product and meets my Vitamin D3 needs.
