    Flower and berry tincture

    The box was smashed, but not sure if that is the fault of the manufacturer; fortunately, the bottle was intact and not marred in any way. The serving is 40 drops (or 2 ml), which is what you will have to count out as there are no ml markings on the dropper, which is not a big deal. For my bottle, 40 drops is about 2.5 dropperfuls, based on where the liquid consistently rises to on the dropper in my bottle. This will assuredly vary. Taste is a bit flowery (logical, since it is the black elder flower), so if you are used to elderberry gummies, this will not be the same experience. Interestingly, this is both the flower and the berry in a tincture (alcohol free, 1:10 ratio), which I suspect reaps the benefits or both. Most of us know elderberry for winter immune support, the flower (I did not know this until now) is used to “help manage seasonal allergies, soothe irritated upper respiratory tracts, and lower fevers by promoting sweating.” So, this particular product may be a good year round tincture for many. The price point at $4.50/ounce appears very good compared to elderberry (proper) tinctures, so perhaps the blend is what makes it more affordable. At 60 servings per container, and using only seasonally, this should last a while for most people given a 3.5 year expiration date. I can’t account for immune support at the moment, however, with smoke filled skies that I am breathing in, I am not stuffy. If you are looking for straight elderberry, this is not it, however, I think this is worth a try given the ratio and the quality of the tincture.

    This tincture is a nice option if you like elderberry/elderflower supplements but do not want capsules, gummies, or alcohol-based drops. I especially appreciate that it is alcohol-free because some tinctures have a strong burn or sharp taste that makes them harder to take consistently.The 4 oz bottle is generous compared with many liquid supplements, and the dropper format makes it easy to measure and add to a routine. The flavor is herbal and berry-like, but still has that natural tincture taste. I prefer mixing it into a little water, tea, or juice rather than taking it directly.I like that this includes both black elder flower and fruit, so it feels like a more complete elder supplement than elderberry-only products. It is also vegan, which is a plus. I did not notice any stomach discomfort, though with herbal products, I always think it is smart to start with the recommended serving and see how your body responds.I would not expect instant results or treat this as a replacement for medical care, but as a daily herbal wellness supplement, it is easy to use and fits nicely into an immune-support routine. Overall, I like the alcohol-free formula, larger bottle size, simple ingredient focus, and convenient liquid format.

The flavor is distinctly elderberry: sweet and darkly berry-like with a slightly earthy quality. It’s a particular flavor, especially if you’re already familiar with what elderberry tastes like, but I actually enjoy it.Overall, this is a convenient option to keep on hand when I want elderberry without having to make my own preparation.Price at time of review: $17.99.

    Yummy, reputable brand, fair value

    I received Ginger rather than Black Elder flower and berry, so that is what I am reviewing. The flavor is like mild white, baby ginger sweetened with the glycerin used to extract the ginger. It is delicious. I look forward to making a simple tea with hot water when I am fighting off sniffles, sneezes or a sore throat. The ginger is extracted with glycerin, for an alcohol and sugar free supplement to effectively support the immune system. The suggested serving size is 2 ML, which I’m guessing is about 3 squeezes of the dropper. I find it moderately easy to take, although it would be more convenient if they had lines and markings on the dropper so you know exactly how much you are taking.The Naturalma brand is well established and respected. Their products are produced and packaged in Italy under strict European Union food safety and manufacturing regulations, giving me confidence in the brand. Their 4 oz tinctures are in the $15-20 range, which is a fair value for their quality.
