Nutrient packed
I use just a spoonful of this in my smoothies. It doesn’t affect the flavor. It’s pretty easy to use and dissolves readily without affecting the texture. I can’t really tell if this is affecting my energy levels or controlling my appetite but I’m amazed at how much one spoonful is packed with nutrients. Just 1.5 tbsp has 11% fiber and a massive 350% vitamin D, just to highlight a few. This is especially great for me because unlike the vitamin supplements for vitamin D, this is easy to digest and doesn’t cause me stomach irritation at all.

I am approaching a milestone birthday and will be the first to admit that I am not into smoothies, supplements, or elaborate breakfasts. However, after recently adding some cycling to my routine to help step away from a sedentary lifestyle, I decided it was time to give a green mix a try. I also had a container of frozen strawberries in the chest freezer that desperately needed to be used up, making this the perfect opportunity. I fully expected this to have an unappealing consistency, taste terrible, and end up straight down the kitchen sink. Okay – these are a no brainier. Cheap, all the veggies, fiber, and a little boost of protein. It mixes really well, tastes good, effective, and makes me feel more energetic – plus a single serving hits all the little gaps i have in my diet a day. Easy win for me. Just wish it came in a bigger size.

Good for hemp protein, works well in oatmeal
This hemp & supergreens powder is not perfect, and not my favorite supplement, but it does have some good things going for it. The best thing is its nutrition. In just one and a half tablespoon serving, it has 6g of protein, 3g of fiber, and a good variety of vitamins and minerals (more than you would find in some other protein powders). The supergreens powder is also made with real foods. There are no unpronounceable, unidentifiable ingredients. That’s a rare quality for a lot of products that are not single-ingredient products. Usually there’s some kind of preservatives and/or sweetener. I really appreciate the wholesomeness of the powder. While I’m not against eating foods that are more processed, there’s something refreshing about seeing a simple ingredients label.The supergreens powder is like most other hemp protein powders that I’ve tried in that it has a gritty texture. That being said, it’s not as noticeable with this product as with some others. When I used it in baked goods, the texture difference was slight but noticeable. The cookies had a minor gritty quality to them. It didn’t make the cookies bad by any means, but it was clear that the cookies had a less-refined powder added to them. I did not notice any difference in flavor though. The same was true in most other recipes, such as those for smoothies, that I used the powder in.I definitely would not recommend just adding the powder to liquid like one would make a protein shake. The powder did not dissolve well in a glass of water, and the drink had an off-putting taste to it. That being said, I don’t take points off for this since the package does not recommend just mixing the powder with water.I thought that the powder was best when added to oatmeal. When combined with the oats and other oatmeal add-ins, the texture of the powder didn’t stand out much since the oats were a little chewy anyway and the flavor additions masked any less pleasant flavor qualities of the power. In fact, it could be said that it actually made a nice addition to the oatmeal.

Healthy Plant-Based Protein, Blends Easily
After searching for a healthier alternative to the commercially made protein powders out there that often contain artificial sweeteners, artificial flavors, and artificial colors, hemp protein has become the protein powder of my choice. This Manitoba Harvest Hemp + Supergreens blend goes beyond the basic hemp protein powder by adding spinach, kale, pumpkin, banana, carrot juice, apple juice, beet juice, sweet potato, pomegranate juice, cherry juice, acai, and mushroom. That’s a whole lot of goodness right there.I used this blend in place of my usual hemp protein powder when making my banana protein shake, and it is quite different in both flavor and texture. Taste-wise, I don’t really taste the kale, spinach, or any of the other supergreen components. Instead, I actually taste the banana more distinctly, likely because this blend has a slightly less grassy taste than straight-up hemp protein.Texture-wise, the Hemp + Supergreens powder blends much more smoothly into the shake. It is less gritty when drinking it, and there is no hemp residue left at the bottom of my mason jar.One thing I’m not too crazy about, is the pouch packaging that it comes in. Trying to scoop out and measure precisely how much powder I need is more difficult from the pouch than from a wide mouth plastic container. The pouch doesn’t stand as stably, and the opening tends to close upon itself. It can always be transferred to another container, so it’s not a dealbreaker.Overall, I think this is a great product. Hemp protein is one of the best plant based protein sources. It is a complete protein, having all nine essential amino acids. It is a good source of health plant-based fats, low in sugar and has no sodium and no cholesterol. Plus, you get the power of the supergreens to further support health and well-being, all of which blends easily into any shake or smoothie.

I have been using Manitoba Harvest shelled hemp seeds for years and absolutely trust the quality of this brand. When I saw this Hemp & Supergreens version, I figured it was a great opportunity to get the benefits of both hemp seeds and greens in one step.A few practical takeaways if you are considering trying it:Texture: Unlike their standard shelled hemp seeds, this product is a very fine powder. I’ve included a comparison picture of the two items next to each other so you can see the difference.Taste: I can’t honestly speak to the standalone flavor. I drop this into a massive morning shake packed with a lot of other ingredients, so it’s completely masked — which is exactly how I prefer it.Blending: It blends incredibly easily and smoothly using my Ninja blender. I’ve never tested to see how well it would dissolve if you’re just using a manual hand shaker cup, but it’s handled in a high-powered blender perfectly with zero grittiness.The VerdictIt was a fun experiment and it’s a solid product, but I already grow fresh greens in my yard that I typically harvest and toss into my daily shakes. Because of that, this feels a bit redundant for my specific routine. It’s an excellent, convenient option if you need an all-in-one boost, but once this bag is done, I will most likely go back to purchasing their standalone shelled hemp seeds.

Real flavor review
I love the ingredients in this but will need to find better ways to use it than a smoothie. It dissolves pretty well but You can really taste the greens. My kids are used to me sneaking stuff in the shakes/smoothies… well this time they wouldn’t drink it. I plan on baking some chocolate muffins to hide the taste.I’ll come back if the sweet treats turn out good. For now, 3 stars because the super greens are hard to choke down.
