Besides the titular component, Spirulina, this supplement offers Vitamin A, Vitamin B12 and Iron. I’ve recently began including Spirulina powder into my supplement/protein regimen. I feel it offers a considerable amount to potential health benefits (antioxidants, protein) for metabolism, blood sugar, cholesterol. I try to maintain my regimen, even when not at home. In those instances, I prefer to take my powdered supplements in the form of capsules or tablets. This enables a convenient, compact form factor. This Spirulina tablet provides that element in a tablet form; with the tablet exhibiting the same hue as the powder form.At a cost of $18, for a 90 serving offering, it’s slightly pricey. Considering a name brand offers a 100 tablet, with organic Spirulina, for a little over $6 with 100 tablets. To be fair, the name brand contains 500mg Spirulina, half of the quantity in this product. But, if you bought 2 of the name brand, the cost would be $12 (to reach the 1 gram level, you’d take 2 tablets for equivalency, yielding 100 servings). That’s a substantial price difference.I appreciate that the bottle does display GMP, Good Manufacturing Practices. This does meet my threshold for quality control/assurance, indicating adherence to industry standards. This ensures an acceptable level of quality control for integrity and safety of ingredients and processes.Despite the pricing aspect, this does present as a quality Spirulina supplement. Having 1 gram in a single tablet is convenient. I feel this supplement offer a credible Spiraling offering. It rates 4.5 stars with a favorable nod.

I received these spirulina tablets with about 1 year left before expiration. This was manufactured in Canada, but there was no mention if the facility was GMP-certified or if there were any 3rd party tests for contaminants. Spirulina naturally absorbs metals so getting a clean source is important. Upon opening the inner seal I could smell the familiar spirulina scent — kind of grassy but more mild. It doesn’t appear to be coated so you can taste the spirulina, which isn’t unpleasant. The ingredients include spirulina powder, croscarmellose sodium (helps the pill to break apart quickly in the digestive tract), polyvinylpyrrolidone (binder to keep the spirulina powder together), silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate (the last 2 keeps ingredients from sticking to the machines during manufacturing). The table is about 19mm long and about 9mm wide. It’s a little more difficult for me to swallow compared to capsules but since it’s not too large it’s not too bad. I didn’t notice any side effects. Value for money: it seems comparable to other spriulina tablets but there may be other comparable products available for slightly better value.

An easy way to add a daily dose of spirulina to my diet

In our mostly-capsule era, the most important thing I think you should know is the fact that these are not capsules but rather tablets — something I overlooked when I was ordering it. I’m not fond of the flavor of spirulina, and capsule do generally a much better job of hiding the flavor of the supplement. HOWEVER, I’m happy to report that in spite of this being a tablet, the surface of it must have some sort of coating on it because I’m not picking up any of that spirulina flavor when I’m washing it down with a glass of water or whatever. And the fact that it’s not in a capsule likely means that it is more readily absorbable by my body, which is a very good thing.I’ve been taking spirulina for several years now on a daily basis, but always in a bulk powder form — which is why I know I don’t like the flavor of spirulina! 🙂 So I am pleased as punch to have found it in an easily measured, effective dose via tablet.It is bigger than a typical capsule, I’d say. You can see the picture I attached showing the size in my hand — male medium glove size.

This bottle contains 90 3/4×11/32×3/8” dark green chalky tablets, each containing 700mcg Vitamin A, 1.2mcg Vitamin B12, 0.6mg, Iron, and 1000mg Spirulina Powder (Arthrospira platensis, whole plant), as well as croscarmellose sodium, polyvinvylpyrrolidone, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate. The inside of the bottle is covered in debris from the tablets (green chalky substance) and it does not smell very pleasant, but spirulina can get that way. However, my biggest concern is the large plastic bag shoved inside the bottle, for which, after researching, I can find no purpose. I can speculate, but I won’t do that here. 1 serving is 1 tablet, as listed above, but the suggested use is for 1 tablet 3 times a day, making this only a 30-day supply. Given what I found in the bottle I don’t trust it, and combined with the limited supply, I do not think it’s a good value.
