I read a study on-line that it was used w/severe alcoholics in a rehab place as the main addition to rehab. The alcoholics had all been in rehab many times and failed. They used 1/3rd a bottle of this per day and had WAY less people fail the rehab afterwards. I think it was a 6 month rehab.Anyway, you can google it. It has no flavor so you can add it to your loved one’s liquids if you feel they are sliding down that slippery slope as a preventative if you can get away with it. You can use small amounts forever rather than large amts for just 6 months. I have a friend using it on her heavily drinking husband. After one month he is less argumentative after drinking but that is the only change so far. She puts a full squirt it in his daily “sweet tea”. And she says it detoxes aluminum so he is fine with that. It DOES detox aluminum, so all are happy. Time will tell if he drinks less. She loves the guy to no end and he won’t stop the drinking so she is doing what she can.

Probably a good product, just not for me
I bought this to try, and while I say it is ok, it may be fine for someone else. I also am a little afraid of using it without being tested, but I did try it a couple of times and it did not help me, in fact, I felt a little more depressed. Also, I don’t believe the depression I am feeling would be helped by this, as some of mine has to do with physical health issues and frustration with that. Anyway, I know someone that is treated with Lithium that I will give this to.

I’m a medical student, not bipolar, but find lithium to be interesting because it can lower blood pressure, increase memory, and cause tooth healing, thought to be through a GSK-3 inhibition mechanism. A very cool medicine, put a few drops under your tongue and hold it there a few minutes to absorb rapidly. As far as I can tell this is a fine way to deliver lithium to a bipolar person. I believe the half-life is about 24 hours, meaning if you take a dose it will last for about 2 days. This medicine seems like it’s the real deal.There’s one thing I want to strongly warn the amazon public about, though, and that’s the risks of lithium – it has some dangers if you take too much of it. Lithium has what’s called a “narrow therapeutic index”, which is a fancy way of saying that taking too much is not harmless, bad things can happen. Taking too much vitamin C, for a comparison, that’s mostly harmless. A lot of medical patients on lithium have kidney failure over decades, and I would imagine that if you take a lot of this, it can destroy your kidneys much sooner – that means dialysis and kidney transplants. In the clinic, normally lithium levels are carefully monitored so that this does not happen, or won’t happen for a long time. Doctors custom-tailor the dose to each patient. So I do want to caution everyone, if choosing to self-administer, or administer to a spouse, to be very careful with dosing, less is better, and keep an eye on dehydration and frequent urination. Definitely do drink lots of fluids when taking this. Because of the half life, above, that means if you take a lot, wait 2-3 days for it to wash out, before taking any more.I am grateful that this is available freely on amazon, my personal belief is it’s a human right to have access to a drug with or without medical advice, and I have a great distaste for the whole bureaucratic process of prescriptions, but do use caution, especially if dosing your significant other, don’t hurt their kidneys! That could mean them being on dialysis or needing a kidney transplant down the road. I hope I have helped you use this medicine carefully and safely – do your homework!

IMO… be careful. Any unknown heart issue using Lithium could cause your body serious injury or death!
I can find little information, anywhere, as to using this as supplement. I have found Federal and Medical warnings about it being fatal, of course they are taking about HIGH doses of 1m;/g to 2m;/g twice a day for 4 days. Anything taken in high doses is deadly. I bought it for my bees. You take sugar water and add this to the water to kill a parasite. When the parasite drinks the bees blood, who has been eating the sugar water/Lithium solution, it dies. I was shocked it was sold as a supplement for people?? So, what the heck, I’ve lived a good old life, so I took 5 drops with OJ. I like to have a glass of sweet red wine before bed to calm my mind after a busy day and wine gives me that AHhhh, I need. Taking the 5 drops in OJ at 7pm, about 2 hours before bed, was like drinking that glass of wine. So, the next day, I tried 5 drops under my tongue and I got the same results. The third day, I took 5 drops in OJ in the morning, and then I took 5 drops under my tongue (with a glass of water after the 10 minute, sublingual test, after my noon lunch and I couldn’t keep my eyes open. I feel asleep and slept until 4pm! I skipped my night time wine and drops of this and I slept sound even after sleeping most of the day away. The 4th day, I took 10, in water before bed and again, slept like a rock. It does seem to keep you in that “glass of wine” peace of mind.I have read many articals about the use of this in the late 1930s and 40s and how thousands of heart patients who could not eat salt, due to heart failure issues, were given this to use as a salt substitute eg Westsal and SaltiSalt, to thousands of people, out of the thousands using it, 5 died! The 5 that died, over dosed on it. They, from what I read, wanted that “salty” taste of salt and Lithium will not do that unless you use A LOT. They did, and they died. I also read it has a “half life” which means, that whatever amount you ingest, only half of it is used up in a 24 hour period, leaving the other half to be used up in the next day or 2!. Taking 10 drops today, and your body only uses the 5 and the next day the other 5. I worry, even though this is a small amount of Lithium, that taking it everyday, might, I don’t know, but from what I have read about Lithium, it should have an accumulative effect in your body. IMO, 10 drops every day for an extended time, might cause an over dose amount to build up?? Again, I don’t know but I know I will take it for 3 days and skip days before taking it again. I like the effect. I fractured my ankle almost 20 years ago, and old age, poor posture and bad shoes have caused my ankle to be a horrible and painful daily burden. In two days of only adding the Lithium to my day, the pain is GONE. The swelling too is gone! I don’t know if it is the Lithium, but I do know that all I changed in my life was add this to it.I have read also that they have tested the overdose amount on animals with the same fatal end but… Japan and the UK are using it now, it microgram amount to treat feline FCV virus and are getting surprising results10 drops today – leaves 5 drops to use tomorrow. Take 10 drops tomorrow and now you have 15 drops worth in your body, because of the “half life” of the dose you took yesterday. Take 10 more drops the 3rd day, and now you have 20 drops in your body to use? Is this true? I don’t know. It might be only truth for a higher dose and that these 10 drops a day are so small that your body can use it all up in one day. But I haven’t found any info on the “half life” dose amount. So until then, I won’t be taking this daily but when I think, or feel like I want to.

Lithium trace supplement. Beneficial and not at all close to a toxic dose range.
I’m a physician. This dosage is at a trace mineral replacement level, not a therapeutic dose range. The dose is 3 orders of magnitude less than prescription dosage–that’s why it’s available on Amazon. The only risk of overdosage/toxicity is if you purchased enough to consume well in excess of 6 bottles per day, the lowest pharmaceutical dosage form being 300mg. The point here is to satisfy the body’s need for Lithium, which appears to be approximately 1/2 of a mg per day, so 10 drops per day. You do not have to worry about toxicity at all as this dose is so vastly much lower than a standard therapeutic dosage.This trace dosage level does seem, in population studies with Lithium in drinking water, to decrease suicide rates by 40%. Anecdotally it is shown to improve mood. It was in the initial formulation of 7-Up, and that is why the name has “Up”–to improve mood. I take it myself and it cured my major depression and bipolar II. I learned about it from article in the New York Times about it called “Should we all take a bit of Lithium?” Personally, I think the answer to that question is yes. After reading the article I chose this product. (I myself have taken single prescription pills and diluted them for a year’s supply of liquid to avoid the expense of re-purchasing the product, but to achieve the goals of a happier outlook $20 every couple of months is a good deal.)This preparation is Lithium Chloride. It seems that a small number people taking Lithium Orotate supplement are getting headaches, whereas this does not seem to be reported for the Lithium Chloride.

Powerful, powerful stuff. I have bipolar disease and the capsules from the doctor of either 150mg and 300mg were way too powerful. I would be knocked out for a couple days. Even though the drops are 5000 ppm and less intense of a dose, if I take upwards of eight drops, I get knocked out and sleep all day. I think I will maintenance dose at one drop a day. I am extremely sensitive to medications. I was born very premature and like to attribute it to that.If you’re anything like me, start small and see what one or two drops will do for you. That maintains a balanced mood for me, anything more, and I sleep all day and feel groggy.

You want Orotate, not chloride.This is for lab use and normal well absorbed. All the research is showing lithium orotate best absorbed and most beneficial.
