Smells like boo boo
So I had a crazy dream on the first night of using these. I was flying, using my elbows as wings. I had to dodge a tree an then I was lead down a hole that was inside a tree. I decide to stop using because I feared I would get blind…not that there are reports of blindness. When I first opened it, it smells…really bad…like boo boo. I decided that I would hold off on any more dream flights for now. I did wake up feeling like I needed to go back to sleep. My sleep didn’t feel fulfilled.

I guess not all valerians created equal
So I have a Valerian root capsule supplement that I’ve taken before. I’m going to throw that bottle away because they have never really done anything for me. This supplement on the other hand is amazing. Said to take one to two of these so I took one last night. Glad I didn’t take two of them. I can never sleep in. Have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. I could have slept in this morning. That was the only issue I have with it is maybe I need to take it earlier. Because I wanted to sleep in like I could when I was younger. Probably won’t take this everyday so I don’t build a tolerance to it, but perhaps I should take them everyday to build a little bit of resistance to them as they work great. Hard pills. I don’t know that I could cut them in half or not. Man do these work good?.

Powerful relaxation and sleep aid
Supplements help close the gap between modern nutrition levels in our food, and the levels that were there when I was young. But, in my opinion, the supplement industry has both some of the highest integrity companies, and some of the lowest. So I try and give a detailed enough review to get to know the company and product better, to help you determine for yourself whether or not you want to try this one out.This bottle arrived with a cracked lid, but the seals around the lid and on the opening of the bottle were fine.It comes less than half full, which is one of my pet peeves with many supplement companies.The Directions say to take 1-2 tablets, one hour before bed, and to not exceed more than three tablets in a 24-hour period, in which case it seems the bottle could last from 30-90 days.The expiration date on mine is Nov 2026, so a little less than 1.5 years from now.I used to call Valerian oil the “smelly feet” oil. This smells better than what I remember, but it does have a strong scent. I don’t get the taste too much because I wash the tablet(s) down quickly with water, which is easy to do.I like my supplements to say organic, non-GMO, GMP-certified, 3rd-party tested, and made in the USA. This says GMP-certified. The product page also says non-GMO.I look into the supplement companies I use because I’ve come across so many questionable ones. I have been familiar with the EAS brand for years, but did not realize they sold to Abbott Nutrition, who then discontinued the brand in 2018. Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has since acquired the brand and has been bringing back more of the signature supplements. They have four production facilities and warehouses in the USA so I believe that is where they manufacture this. They are a well-established company, which I have come to appreciate lately after dealing with quite a few suspect supplement companies. Their hitechpharma site is functional and informative. They have been manufacturing since 1997. The site has their phone number along with their address and a contact page form.I seem to take longer than most to see results when starting a new supplement, but Valerian always works with me, and they did a pretty good job with this one. I like the ingredients (other than the fillers that many companies say they need to use, but the manufacturers of the highest quality supplements I know about refuse to). I also prefer my supplements to not have color added because I never know what dye or other product they used to do that. But overall I think this is a good, effective supplement from an established company for a good price – especially if it lasts 90 days.Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful.

Stinky & Big But It Works!
These smell awful! I googled and apparently that’s to be expected of valerian root. And, the pills are very large. However, it definitely does seem to relax me enough to get into a deep sleep though I wouldn’t say it puts me to sleep. I like this company’s products after trying several and I like that they do more tablets than capsules which are sometimes harder to get down. I’m not sure I’d repurchase because I’m not sure this is the magic sleep bullet for me as an ingredient, but, I would definitely recommend at this price point.

A good sleep aid that is worth buying
The first thing I do as a research scientist is to determine if the product I’m evaluating functions better if it can pass the blood-brain barrier. If that is the case, I then determine if the product in question CAN pass the BBB. Then I see if I can actually bring the active ingredient TO the BBB. That can be done in a number of ways (sublingual absorption, buccal absorption, etc) but the easiest is to see if the product is served in the liposomal form where it will pass the stomach and large intestine unchanged by the strong stomach acids and digestive fluids in the small intestine. If it is intact by the time it reaches the large intestine, you’re in business because it will be absorbed into the blood stream where it has a CHANCE to reach the BBB intact. I say “CHANCE” because many of these products are filtered from the blood in the kidneys or the liver.So what about the EAS Valerian product? It is effective if it can pass the BBB and it can do so because this is a product presented in liposomal form. Don’t worry, they call it “Cyclosome Delivery,” but that is just their trade term for liposomal delivery.How does it work? Very well, thank you. If you take a dose half an hour before going to sleep, you will find that this product works quite well in ALLOWING you to sleep. I make the distinction between allowing you to sleep and causing you to sleep because the former is a gentler, thus superior, product.I like these and would buy them again.

The Accountability factor of GMP certification and the fact that it’s made by an established manufacturer makes me feel comfortable using this brand despite the fact that I hadn’t heard of it previously.The details:TRANSPARENCY: The EAS brand has recently been brought back to life by a pharmaceutical company with ANSI GMP certification. According to a Wikipedia article, EAS was a well known brand that was originally started in 1992, which was then bought out by Abbott laboratories before being discontinued in 2018. According to one source, in 2022 “EAS has now been relaunched by Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals, which confirmed it recently acquired the brand.” The names “Experiemental and Applied Sciences” (EAS) and “Hi-Tech pharma” are found on the label.Accountability: Hi-Tech pharmaceuticals has been around since 1997, and displays their ANSI Good Manufacturing Practices certificate on their website. GMP certification involves third party lab testing as well.Quality: This is a standardized, liposomal form of Valerian. There are 90 attractive, easy to swallow bright blue caplets that provide 400 mg of Valerian apiece, and a dose is 1-2 caplets. They are said to have “Cyclosome” delivery, which according to the manufacturer “allows the delivery of a wide array of ingredients to the systemic circulation by the intestinal lymphatic route, circumventing first-pass inactivation in the liver for the very first time,” in this case that ingredient is Valerian (as Valerenic acid).Note that the label includes some fascinating information on how exactly Valerenic acid works. Kudos to the folks at Hi-Tech Pharma for bringing this iconic brand back to life.

The Valerian-RX is a non-prescription valerian root supplement. Don’t let the RX in the name fool you.The capsules are 400mg each and are solid pills. There is a minor smell, but only when you put the jar or a pill right to your nose.If you have trouble swallowing solid pills instead of gel caps or other, smooth medications, this may be more difficult for you.No food requirements which is a plus.The pills are sealed with a cotton swap to prevent moisture, so they should maintain their potency for a while. The don’t expire for +2 years, so there should be plenty to meet your needs considering the dosage is 1-2 pills and there are 90.

Valerian prior to sleep
These are tablets, blue – coated. The valerian herb mix is visible when tablets are halved. If you look at ingredients list, beyond valerian is a somewhat involved listing of science-y things I am unfamiliar with. Much of this is explained on the bottle which I appreciate. It appears to be a conscientious blend.Now, valerian by its nature is a bit funky- earthy tasting and smelling, and these have that.I halved to take in proportioned doses because I don’t like large tablets. I do experience some valerian aftertaste. I like the effects of valerian prior to sleep.Just the my observations here.
