A different formulation.
I’ve used Black Elderberry supplements for a few years (and many, many other supplements, for decades). This Black Elderberry is a little different, some ingredients I’ve never heard of.When I see a bunch of CHEMICAL names, in something that is supposed to be a FOOD, I get uneasy. I looked up phosphatidylcholine, lysophosphatidylcholine, and phosphatidylethanolamine. There was not a lot of information (perhaps these are new in the supplements business?), but what I found was generally positive. Actually there were several others, but these first 3 were OK and I got tired of looking them all up. I’m giving the benefit of the doubt for the rest of the ingredients I never heard of before, are healthy, and good.I took one star off for some of the other ingredients, that I have heard of: microcrystalline cellulose, colloidal silica anhydrous, and magnesium stearate. These all officially have been declared GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). However GRAS is not the same as FDA approved. And there are diverging opinions about whether these 3 ingredients are ENTIRELY safe, or not. I personally do take supplements with GRAS ingredients, but only if I can’t find a similar product that is free of all ingredients with any controversy. I look long and hard to find what I consider to be the cleanest and purest formulations of supplements. This might be a “new and improved” Black Elderberry.

Great ingredients!
This is EAS brand Black Elderberry 450mg | Supports Healthy Immune Response | Gluten Free, Non GMO | Better Absorption with Cyclosome Delivery | 120 Tablets. This is a really good supplement. The only active ingredients are Black Elderberry and Black Elderberry Extract. Simple, Clean, Potent! The botttle has 120 capsules which will last FOUR full months–that is a good value. This uses cyclosomal technology to improve absorption. This is a good supplement!

Black Elderberry
The supplement market is enormous, and I’ve become careful about what I put inside my body. I usually buy from a number of trusted companies, but this brand is not one that I was familiar with, so I had to look it up. EAS appears to be one of several brands of Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals. The Hi-Tech website tells us that this “is a cGMP certified company that operates out of four US production facilities and warehouses,” two in Georgia and two in Pennsylvania. There is also a Wikipedia page for EAS (Experimental & Applied Sciences) that says the company was founded in California in 1992. The company went through a series of owners, ultimately ending up as a division of pharmaceutical giant Abbott Laboratories. According to Wikipedia, “In August 2018, the brand was discontinued by Abbott Laboratories,” but Wikipedia gives no further information beyond that date. These are ¾ inch long purple caplets. They are not scored (should you wish to take half a tablet). The tablet color does vary, from light purple to a deeper purple, which surprised me and makes me wonder about quality control and whether potency is variable. Tablets are easy to swallow and there is no aftertaste. The expiration date on the bottom of the bottle is a few months more than 2 years from the date I received it. I’m not expecting to see any clear-cut benefit because I believe most supplements like these are taken on faith.

EAS is back!
Supplements help close the gap between modern nutrition levels in our food, and the levels that were there when I was young. But, in my opinion, the supplement industry has both some of the highest integrity companies, and some of the lowest. So I try and give a detailed enough review to get to know the company and product better, to help you determine for yourself whether or not you want to try this one out. This bottle comes about half full, which is one of my pet peeves with supplement companies. If used as directed it will last 40-120 days, as it suggests taking one tablet 1-3 times daily. I’d prefer the put in more tablets and/or use a smaller bottle. The expiration date on mine is Nov 2026, so a little more than two years from now. There is a slight herbal (?) scent and taste to the tablets, and they are easy to swallow with water.I like my supplements to say organic, non-GMO, GMP-certified, 3rd-party tested, and Made in USA. This says GMP-certified. The product page also says non-GMO.I look into the supplement companies I use because I’ve come across so many questionable ones. I have been familiar with the EAS brand for years, but did not realize they sold to Abbott Nutrition, who then discontinued the brand in 2018. Hi-Tech Pharmaceuticals has since acquired the brand and has been bringing back more of the signature supplements. They have four production facilities and warehouses in the USA so I believe that is where they manufacture this. They are a well-established company, which I have come to appreciate lately after dealing with quite a few questionable supplement companies. Their hitechpharma site is functional and informative. They have been manufacturing since 1997. The site has their phone number along with their address and a contact page form.I seem to take longer than most to see results when starting a new supplement, but I like the ingredients (other than the fillers that many companies say they need to use, but the manufacturers of the highest quality supplements I know about refuse to). Overall I think it’s a good supplement from an established company for a good price (unless you down them in a month, then the price is a little steep =).Thank you for reading, I hope it was helpful.

Ready for Flu Season.
I have started taking this to get ready for my kids going back to school and then bringing home every horrible sickness they can carry. For what it is worth, I myself have not gotten sick while taking this supplement. But it is early days and the horror has not arrived yet. We’ll see.But I did my research and there is good evidence that black elderberry MIGHT help. So this is a easy to swallow way to get it. A little expensive… which hurts how long I plan to keep using it and how much more I will buy… but if it works I will consider it worth it. I’ll update this review depending on if it seems useful.

IMO Best form of Elderberry Supplement
I have tried several different forms of Elderberry to include drinking the syrup, the juice, the drops, and the gummies. This is the best way to take elderberry in my opinion. It is a medium to large sized supplement but I am able to swallow it without issue. Some might want to take it with food to help it go down more easily. I love that it’s in a tablet form. Tablets are produced by compressing the powder/granules of the active ingredient and don’t have to include additional ingredients. I always feel like I get more out of supplements that are in this form. The price is just ok at about $30 when I purchased this. Elderberry is expensive and for a good reason, it seems to work! I feel that it’s worth the cost.I’m new to the EAS company but they seem reputable and are a subsidiary of Abbott Laboratories which is very well-known in the healthcare world. I lobe that the company complies with non-GMO standards and are made in a GMP facility. They’re also third party tested which is another positive.Anyway, I’ll be taking these quite a bit this flu season as so far they seem to be helping!

Very convenient and easy way of taking Black Elderberry for Immune Support!
Having taken Black Elderberry for several years now during the winter months to help strengthen my immune system and thereby hopefully reducing my chances of getting ill, I was pleasantly surprised to see a tablet version that’s so much more convenient and easier to take instead of the liquid syrup that I’ve been using for years. So far after taking EAS Black Elderberry for over a month, I haven’t gotten ill and hoping it will continue to strengthen my immune system until the winter has passed. In addition, I haven’t experienced any adverse effects such as nausea or stomach pain while taking this. That said, I will hopefully continue to use as long as it remains effective and the price point being reasonable.

EAS Black Elderberry – Tablets for Immune Health, Color Inconsistency
The tablets (not capsules) claim improved ingredient bioavailability through the cyclostome delivery system that helps the ingredients move into the gut to be more readily absorbed. I did research this a bit and if it holds true, this is a great product.I’ve been using European Elderberry, Sambucus nigra, for years as the superior form of elderberry. I’ve tinctured it, made cordials and syrup. Having a tablet to take when needed is a much easier way to ingest the benefits of elderberry when needed. Each tablet is about 3/4″ in size.I found it odd that the tablets were not consistent in color, I do not know if that is normal or not. At first glance it made me wonder if the product was well mixed before pressing.
