Let me start by saying I AM NOT a health care professional, so please don’t take what I say as the absolute final word on the subject. Also note that the active ingredients could have negative interactions with other medications you may be taking. When in doubt, it’s probably a good idea to consult your doctor.I do believe there is place for a L-carnitine and Acetyl-L-carnitine supplement in my diet. Based on what I’ve been able to gather from the available info it seems that:- L-carnitine helps the body turn fat into energy, and MAY be useful to the heart, brain, and in muscle recovery.- Acetyl-L-carnitine MAY help the brain slow the onset of Alzheimer’s , amongst other things.So why am I taking it? Mostly preemptive: my father had Alzheimer’s and heart disease, my mother died from heart failure, and slow muscle recovery from exercise has been a concern of mine for a while. I wish I could report that taking this supplement for the last 3 weeks has given me measurable improvement, but those concerns aren’t really something you can measure progress on at home.I can say that I have felt strong and energetic over this time, and brain fog hasn’t been an issue for me as the day turns into night. Also, I have not felt any negative effects. Let me also add that Dr. Mercola products are a brand that I trust. Neuropathy improved.
I get chemo every 3 weeks. The first session resulted in neuropathy in my legs, heavy and weak..Towards the end of the second week I started these capsules, and by the time of my next infusion I could tell a difference..I’m waiting to see if this session increases the neuropathy, or if the AlC has a protective element..I would say these are worth a try. I have always trusted his products. If I can update this after a bottle or two, I will ♡

But had no idea Amazon sold select Dr. Mercola products, such as Carnitine Complex. So, we were thrilled to try, as this amino acid has received positive press (news) lately, surrounding its role supporting cellular, muscle, heart and brain health, which will not be outlined here, as the reader can make any health conclusion on their own. Notwithstanding, this writer wanted to take advantage of those benefits we understood take place when taking Dr. Mercola’s Carnitine Complex, specially formulated with 500mg L-Carnitine and 500mg Acetyl-L-Carnitine.The capsule.The plastic like soft/flexible oral capsules, at about (.875”) in length and about (.250”) in width, are “not” small, but with the right amount of liquid, are relatively easy to swallow, avoiding what is referred to as Oesophageal Sticking (i.e., stuck in the throat/food pipe). The idea is to avoid any holdup, i.e., to get this down sooner, aiding its transit, rather than later, by using the right amount of water. The dosage is the size we desired. A combined (1,000mg) capsule and represent a cost that is competitive, if not superior when considering the totality. Attention to detail is obvious. From the safety seal to its glass jar; and what really sets this supplement apart, from the competition, is that “freshness bubble” – an inside-the-capsule bubble of nitrogen to help prevent oxidation and degradation of the contents.The capsule, continued.Originating from the Latin word “capsula,” which means a small box, Dr. Mercola’s capsule is listed as hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), which is understood to be a clear, tasteless, vegetarian and vegan appropriate material, typically produced by a synthetic modification process of a naturally occurring polymer cellulose, one of many polymers found in nature. We drank a little bit more liquid though, because historically HPMC capsules transit times are a bit slower than, say, enteric coated capsules.Digestion.(In Vivo Disintegration and Dissolution). Studies suggest for an HPMC delivered formulation; such should take place within (15) minutes. We had no aftertaste, during or after this period of time and no-backing-up of the formulation (i.e., no bad tasting burps, no odors, or aftertastes from this supplement; and there were no tummy issues, for us, from taking). It would have been nice if there was a label reference to this having been made in the USA in an FDA regulated facility, the idea of which would only add to this product.Sniffing inside the bottle.There was a subtle white vinegar scent, nothing objectionable or choking.Bottom-line.We believe these will be helpful to our well-being.
