Having incorporated this L-Glutamine into my post-workout routine for a while now, I’ve noticed a subtle difference in my recovery time. While it’s unflavored and easy to mix, I didn’t experience any significant performance boost as some might claim.

I received this glutamine through the Amazon Vine Voice program.It is stamped/certified as other reviews have stated. Also, the product does come in an oversized tub, but this is beneficial because it’s a fine powder, so the last thing you want is a tiny tub with product spilling and making it too difficult to remove the plastic serving scooper. That said, the size of the container is good!! It’s easy to use or dispense. Plus, the price is reasonable for the amount of product received. And there isn’t a noticeable flavor when mixed in milk along with some whey protein powder. Lastly, this product enhances performance because it aids in recovery, so for the folks that don’t understand how glutamine helps, it truly makes a difference in recovering from challenging workouts.I’ll add that as a person who struggles with autoimmune and inflammatory issues, this product has made a notable difference in relieving my pain, soreness, and any DOMS discomfort, which happens to me frequently due to the inflammation I fight with. I was surprised how much I liked the results of taking glutamine. According to experts, glutamine isn’t supposed to help so much with exercise performance or recovery, its more for reducing risk of infection for athletes that over-train, protect the go tract, and help people with IBS.All that aside, I do feel like it has helped with my muscle recovery. If it helps protect my go tract along the way I’m not going to complain.As for this specific product, color me impressed. The glutamine seems very pure and it doesn’t clump. The bottle feels very sturdy, and has a wide mouth that makes it easy to get your scoop without painting your hands white. For our age group (nearing retirement), my wife and I are regular users of nutritional supplements. This powdered L-glutamine is easy to mix into pre and post workout drinks.Because of our regiment of supplements, it is difficult to identify causal effects with any nutrient in particular. I was interested in this L-Glutamine supplement because I’d heard it may benefit some seniors (who have healthy kidney function at least) and because Dr. Mercola is a well known brand. But before I try something new, I like to evaluate it for safety by looking at the manufacturer/distributor’s transparency, accountability and product quality.Transparency: Dr Joseph Mercola is the Developer of the Dr Mercola supplements line. He has a large web presence in his ‘Mercola Market’. They claim their products are Physician Formulated. He sits at the helm of a multimillion-dollar health business spanning books, products and online content. Per the web site, “All our products are formulated by Dr. Mercola and are thoroughly researched and developed with you in mind by our team of scientists, engineers and specialists.”Accountability: They claim all of their products “are professionally tested for contamination, adulteration, potency and performance”, and that they “undergo micro testing and heavy metal analysis, and all products go through a sensory and quality analysis prior to release”. Mercola does not claim 3rd party lab testing, although they do claim that their products “are tested at multiple stages during production and again after production for stability or failure analysis”. They claim to follow Good Manufacturing Practices, but do not claim to be GMP certified. However, this particular athletic oriented supplement is “NSF Certified Sport”. According to the NSF, that means that “The program verifies that certified manufacturers and their products meet NSF’s stringent independent certification process guidelines, including: Product testing for banned substances, Formulation and label review, Production facility and supplier inspections, and ongoing monitoring.” I wish all their supplements had this seal at a minimum.Quality: This is an odorless, tasteless fluffy powder with the consistency of powdered sugar. It started dissolving as soon as it hit the 12 oz of water I put it in, but a small amount sat on the bottom of the glass for a couple minutes, but did dissolve. Since I don’t like drinking plain water, I mixed in my favorite flavoring.As always, check with your health care provider before adding a new supplement, especially those of us that are a bit “more mature.”. But this seems to be a nice quality product from a well known brand, with the benefit of testing by the NSF (National Sanitation Foundation), a reputable third party certifier.

Better living through nutrition. I am a believer in supplements. I know that it is very difficult to get proper nutrition from diet. I exercise regularly, six days a week. And I try to eat a balanced diet. It is almost impossible to get all the nutrition needed for a GOOD diet. So, I take supplements.Amino acids are an important part of nutrition. They are hard to get naturally and in the proper amounts. This is the logic behind supplements. Now I can add another crucial ingredient to my daily diet. I have some digestive issues and this supplement not only doesn’t trigger anything bad, I believe it is actually helping my digestion. I have been taking this for two weeks now with good results. Let me clarify ‘good results’. Sugar consumption late at night often gives me heartburn. So, I tested this twice. I ate ice cream late at night with no heartburn in the last two weeks while taking this supplement. I however, am reluctant to test that further. Sugar is not good for me. It is already everywhere in the food we eat. Especially sauces and breads. A late-night bowl of ice cream is a once a month treat. I do love ice cream.Imagine – a chocolate chip brownie with ice cream on top! Lol. A person adapts to not putting this poison in their body. It often makes me tired as well as giving me indigestion.The product has no noticeable taste. It dissolves almost by itself in milk. I add it to my protein powder. It is almost a flour texture. The included measuring scoop is a ‘must have’. I will recycle this container to the garage to hold nails or such. Nice container already made responsibly. This supplement is also priced in the lower range of amino acids. Good value. Good product.
