Quality company, quality ingredients
I follow several prominent doctors on YT for dietary advice and have heard good things about Double Wood as they use quality ingredients. I’ve been using their Sulbuthiamine and like it, so I decided to try AKG as well. I have some long standing fatigue issues that have been unresponsive to traditional medicine, so I am trying a clean diet and targeted supplementation.I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and have had no negative side effects, but I haven’t experienced any major burst of energy and of course, it’s not a fix-all. I didn’t expect that considering even RX Ritalin or Nuvigil made no difference. With that said, any supplement can take time to build up levels and see results. I am feeling a bit better, but honestly can’t attribute it to any one thing as I’ve changed a lot of habits for the better. AKG does provide health benefits, so I plan to keep it as part of my regiment. I will update my review as any major changes occur.

Don’t take before bed
I will come back and update this when I’ve taken it longer. But 5 stars because clearly it gave me energy. It arrived in the afternoon so I took one. Big mistake. I was up until 2:30/3 AM last night. No anxiety, felt perfectly fine. Wide awake and happy. Took one this morning and it does seem to be mitigating the negative effects of a poor night’s sleep. With these initial experiences I have high hopes that this will be a keeper. Not sure EXACTLY what I”m looking for as I also take NAD+ boosters but hoping to see additional energy/stamina over the long term.

Noticeable Results

Good Product
I was told to take AKG because when I had my blood tested in a cellular level, it showed a deficiency of ALG. Never heard of it before but read up on it and decided to get a supplement. Settled on this one since it had good reviews and was affordable. Since taking it I noticed that my hair is getting fuller and my eyelashes are a bit thicker. Been taking this for about 5 months so curious to see what will happen in the next six months.

Caveat Emptor AKG Supplement!
The AKG product really works, but even just one capsule (500 mg) per day was too much for me. It took away my peace and calmness — I was too “on edge” mentally and physically. Found myself ruminating, obsessing, and over-reacting. Also found myself with a slight tremor and hyperactive/spasmodic reflexes.If any of this sounds familiar, you may want to consider taking a break and see if things get better. All those negative symptoms went away after I stopped taking the AKG. It took about 4 days to get back to a good balanced central nervous system. On the 2nd day I felt withdrawal symptoms, but by the 3rd day my CNS was rebalancing itself.Everyone is a little different in what they need for a good balanced CNS. But too much Glutamate is a known Excitotoxin, meaning that too much of it is toxic and will over stimulate and kill nerve & brain cells, which is not good for anyone. Glutamate is closely related to AKG because Glutamate is simply the amidated form of AKG. This means that Glutamate is easily made from AKG in the human body by replacing the oxygen group (=O) on the carbon backbone of AKG with an amino group (-NH2) and a hydrogen (-H) to produce Glutamate. In fact the human body is so good at making Glutamate, that there are several metabolic pathways and enzymes that actually do this using AKG.So in summary, if you’re taking too much AKG then your cellular metabolism (including brain cells) tries to balance it out by converting it to Glutamate, which transfers the imbalance to having too much over stimulating and toxic levels of Glutamate in the CNS. The human brain is the most complex structure in the known universe, and is finely tuned for optimum performance. Messing with the balance of that fine tuning should be done with caution and a well-informed understanding – caveat emptor!

Caused intense stomach pains
I cannot recommend this product.I had been using another brand’s Ca AKG and was looking for a cheaper alternative and came across this.I took a chance and ordered a bottle.First off, there was no indication of which type of AKG is in this supplement. To my knowledge common AKG supplement should either be Calcium AKG or Arginine AKG.The other problem was that I started having intense stomach pains after I started on this supplement. It got so bad that at one point I was sure I am having stomach ulcers.When I suddenly realized that the pain started at around the same time I switched supplement. I stopped taking this and the pain went away within 2 days.I had no further problems after going back to my regular Ca AKG brand.

Toxic, Rancid Stench – Sticky Powder All Inside – Do Not Buy
I started coughing when I opened the bottle. The extremely rancid, toxic stench shot straight up my nose. The smell seemed like a combination of vinegar and a large construction site porta-potty in the middle of a very hot summer day. The smell actually caused an instant burning sensation in my nose and throat.I noticed that the capsules were all stuck together. They were also stick to the cotton ball inside, making it very difficult to even force one capsule out of the container. The inside of the bottle was also coated with a sticky powder that looked like it had been generously sprinkled all over the capsules.I eventually managed to peel one capsule from the cotton ball and the cluster of other capsules that were stuck together with the sticky powder.When I brought the capsule closer to my mouth, I tried to ignore the stench but the intense, rancid smell was overwhelming and I started coughing again.Then I looked for an expiration date on the bottle since I thought it might be expired even though I just received it.According to the expiration date on the bottom of the bottle it wasn’t supposed to expire for another 1.5 years.So why did it have such a horrible stench?I went back to my order list on Amazon to find the product reviews and only look at the 1-star reviews this time.To my amazement, many others described the exact same experience that I had and they included pictures of the clusters of capsules stuck together and stuck to the cotton ball.One person even complained about It giving him a gut ache but gave the product 4 stars anyway. Another reviewer gave it 5 stars after complaining about being “very disappointed” about the capsule contents spilling out all over the inside of the container.Why would reviewers give a product 4 stars or 5 stars if they hated it? That got me curious about the brand. I looked at Amazon customer 1-star reviews of some of Double Wood’s other products. I wish I had done that before I bought this horrible product because the other products also had terrible reviews.I definitely will not be buying this rancid smelling product again or any other terrible product sold by Double Wood.I wish I could give this product zero stars.

Cápsulas rotas
Lo he sentido bien, ningún malestar gástrico como mencionan otros. lo único es que está pésimo el encapsulado, hace 3 semanas lo compré y ya van 2 cápsulas vacías que encuentro y algunas otras las he encontrado medio llenas y otras llenas. Así que no se puede garantizar la dosis de 1000 mg por día.Segunda compra. Se corrigió el problema de cápsulas rotas. Debo añadir que sufría dolor en mis articulaciones y me he sentido muy bien, tanto que pude dejar los medicamentos para el dolor y la inflamación. Puedo concluir que tiene efectos antiinflamatorios.Eso sí, si dejo de consumir el AKG, el dolor de articulaciones en mis manos empieza a volver.
