Does the first ten minutes hold up to the label claims? Pretty much yes.
Was wondering if the tablets would be huge and hard to deal with, honestly, because 1200mg sounds like a lot to pack into something you have to actually swallow. Opened the bottle and the tablets are bigger than a standard vitamin but not unreasonable, went down fine with a glass of water. The coating is smooth so theres no chalky crumbling situation when you pick them up. Took a minute to look at the back label and you can see the D3 and K2 are both listed clearly with actual amounts, which is the kind of thing i check for now after buying calcium supplements in the past that turned out to be mostly calcium with tokenamounts of anything else. My doctor had mentioned K2 specifically and how it keeps calcium going where its supposed to go rather than sitting around where it shouldnt. Being free of gluten, soy and dairy is a big deal for me personally. Solid first impression, ill update if anything changes down the line.

These tablets are large. The measurement shown in the product photos is accurate. If you have trouble swallowing large pills, then this supplement may not work for you. They don’t have a taste and they have a sort of gel coating that gets slippery when wet, so I find that they go down just fine with a glass of water. Calcium is just a bulky supplement, even in the carbonate form (which is the most compact of all the calcium compounds that are commonly used for supplementation, containing 40% elemental calcium by weight). These tablets also have a hefty dose of vitamin D3, at 2500 IU per tablet, and a small dose of vitamin K2 as MK-7, to help move the calcium to bone rather than having it stay in blood circulation where calcification would be undesirable. Personally I prefer to take my D and K supplements separately, because they can interfere with each other’s absorption process when taken together. However, for those who don’t want to take pills more than once a day, combination supplements like this one are convenient; and some vitamin K, even if not a large dose and not absorbed perfectly, can still do more than none at all. Calcium carbonate should always be taken right after eating, not on an empty stomach, to improve absorption and reduce the risk of GI side effects. I’ve been taking this supplement after dinner and it hasn’t upset my stomach or caused any other GI problems for me.The amount of Vitamin D is high enough that you want to cross-check any other supplements you take for their Vitamin D content (if any), and clear the total dose you’re getting daily with your medical care provider. There definitely are situations where a dose of this size can be warranted, especially short-term in winter, or if your levels have tested low, but it is a vitamin that the body stores, with deficiency and overage both having negative effects, so you want to play Goldilocks here: not too low – not too high – refuse to settle until you find the dose that is Just Right. I’m fortunate to have a care provider who keeps tabs on my D through regular 25-OH-D blood tests, which makes it much less of a guessing game for me, and what I’ve learned is that a 100% DV supplement is inadequate for me to maintain an optimal level. I’m thankful for supplements like this one, that make it easy to reach the D3 dose that’s effective for me, and to get the calcium building blocks for my bones. I still take a separate K2 – MK7 supplement so that part may not be as essential for me, but it’s still a nice bonus, at a comparable price to other supplement products that have just calcium and D.

Similar to a More Popular Brand that Has a Strong Following–But Costs More.
Reviewing a dietary supplement, such as “Doctor’s Recipes Calcium 1200 mg with Vitamin with D3 & K2” is difficult for a number of reasons. The most important reason would be determining whether the supplement achieves its desired or advertised outcome. You’d need to conduct a relatively long-term study using test subjects and scientific methods. Added to this would be panels of experts and laboratory research results, followed by a process of peer review.On other hand, one could simply compare the Doctor’s Recipe calcium supplement with a different brand on the basis of their ingredients and other factors. For this comparison, I chose a popular supplement sold on Amazon.First, as you can see in my photos, the Doctor’s Recipes (DR) supplement bottle contains 120 tablets with a suggested use of 2 pills daily. The Other Calcium (OC) bottle contains the same number of pills with the same serving size of 2 pills daily. Note that the DR pill is hard, while the OC pills are soft gel and significantly larger. Two pills of the DR supplement contain 125 mcg of vitamin D3 (625% of daily value), compared with 25 mcg of D3 (125% of daily value. The DR supplement also contains 100 mcg of vitamin K2 (no daily value available).As for current (March 2026) price on Amazon., 1 bottle of the OR costs less than the sale price for 1 bottle of DR.In summary, the two supplements are basically similar, although the DR contains more vitamin D3 and additionally includes K2, which *may* help to bind calcium to bone.If cost is most important, I recommend the other supplement (OR) used in this comparison. If larger pill sizes are difficult to swallow, you might consider the Doctor’s Recipes (DR) option. In either case, I suggest strongly that you do some comparison shopping of your own.

Besides Calcium, this Doctor’s Recipes supplement also contains Vitamin D3 and K2. Combinations of ingredients help to reduce the number of separate pills one has to take, but the particular ratios are somewhat predetermined and may or may not fit into our existing supplements routines.The package arrived quickly, securely packaged, and clearly labeled, with an expiration date around 2.5 years in the future. The 120 capsules make for 60 servings at the recommended dosing. There is no indication that the supplement is suitable for vegans or vegetarians. Besides the main ingredients, starch, cellulose, and magnesium stearate are listed, all commonly used to make the gel capsules.The label mentions “Carefully manufactured for Doctor’s Recipes” without indicating where the supplement is manufactured, or where the ingredients are sourced, which may matter to you. There is also no mention or link to any 3rd party/lab testing which always helps to build confidence in a product.The generally recommended daily calcium intake is around 1000 to 1200 mg, which this supplement provides at the recommended dose.Vitamin D3 and K2 are helpful in many ways, especially K in combination with calcium. At recommended dosage, the product adds 5000 IU of Vitamin D per day. Personally, I take 15000 IU per week in Winter, and 5000 per week in Summer. The Doctor’s Recipes supplement would provide 35000 IU. Vitamin D is actually a pro-hormone, and unlike some Vitamins, excess amounts are not necessarily helpful. As an option, one could take just one capsule instead of two, with healthy nutrition providing the difference. This also distributes the cost of the supplement over a longer period.Always recommended to stay informed and do some thorough research before taking any supplements.
