Small improvement

I tried this product and it did help a little bit with my BPH symptoms. But it did not produce the desired effect. The label says to take 4 caps for 640mg saw palmetto, 300mg stinging nettle extract, 100mg african pygeum and others. I was a bit hesitant to take 4 caps so I started out with taking 2 caps per day. I did notice some improvement. After a week, I started taking 4 caps per day. There was no noticeable change. I was not getting up at night before I started taking it, so that was not an issue. I did have issues with emptying my bladder especially in the mornings. That did improve a little but not enough in my opinion. Other issues were frequent and urgent trips to the bathroom. There was a slight improvement but again, not enough for me to keep buying this product.I am still searching for better options. I heard that amino acids or grass pollen extracts might work better. I will try those to see if that might product better results for me. It might be a combination of these might work more effectively for me as well.

Seems to work for relatively mild night-time urination problem

I saw one of those half-hour paid advertisements on TV for a brand of prostate supplement (created by a Harvard doctor) that claimed amazing results. It caught my attention only because I was seriously thinking about my sleep issues, and one factor affecting my sleep was my relatively recent habit of waking up during the night to urinate. This started about a year ago, I think. (I’m 61.) I had never thought about a solution prior to seeing that commercial, and I never really thought about the problem at all, before seeing that commercial. So, it caught my attention. (I can’t remember the name of the product.)So, I went online to investigate the product. Found that it was expensive, and that it was also available on Amazon. But, Amazon also suggested other products of similar nature. Previous to that, I did not know that there were other similar products addressing the same issues as the product advertised on TV. So, I learned something new: there is a whole category of supplements devoted to prostate health issues — most notably, the problem of frequent urination.I started to read the ingredient lists of all these supplements, made a little chart to keep track of the ingredients and quantities contained in the various products, and read many of the customer reviews for each product. There is very little consistency among brands as far as quantities of ingredients (mg) and specific combinations of ingredients. But, certain ingredients appear in all (or most): Saw Palmetto, Beta Sistoserols, stinging nettle extract, African pygeum, selenium, and lycopene. Some other ingredients that are common, but not in all: green tea, pumpkin seed oil. One ingredient that is in some: graviola. This last one (graviola) is a bad, dangerous ingredient — to be avoided. I learned about the dangers by reading customer reviews, then looked it up myself. Graviola is used in cancer treatments (at higher doses) and has no place in a prostate supplement or any other supplement. So, while there are several products out there that have “great formulas” on everything else, they fail as a reasonable supplement because they contain graviola. I have no idea why anyone would think to put graviola into a supplement.After reviewing about 20 products, I decided to try Doctor’s Best. This formula has descent quantities of all the major common ingredients. It has among the highest — if not the highest– of saw palmetto (640 mg per daily serving). It lacks pumpkin seed oil and green tea extract — two ingredients often contained in other brands. I saw this as a possible deficiency, but I could find no “perfect formula” brand. Doctor’s Best does not contain graviola — a fact that I considered of utmost importance. Some other brands contain everything plus the kitchen sink (including graviola). The daily cost of this brand is 57 cents: you take 4 capsules/day. One bottle of 120 capsules is the equivalence of a 30-day supply @ $17/month. This is much cheaper than the big advertised-on-TV brands.There are a few brands (on Amazon, and in stores such as Walgreens) that cost about $13/month. But, these lack several ingredients that the Doctor’s Best brand has. However, who is to say that these ingredients are really necessary? These cheaper brands may be worth investigating on a trial basis. However, my theory was to go for the product that was most likely to work, based upon having the most common ingredients.My verdict, after using for 30 days: Doctor’s Best seems to be having an effect. I have been sleeping through the night without having to urinate.I guess that counts as a success. I noticed improvement after about 2 weeks. Bear in mind: Prior to taking this supplement I typically awoke maybe 3 or 4 nights/week to urinate. If I awoke, it typically was only once during the night. Occasionally, twice. My situation was not as bad as some men who must urinate multiple times during every night. So, at least for my relatively mild condition, Doctor’s Best seems to have eliminated the night-time problem. I still urinate more frequently during the day than I would like. I ordered another 30 day supply, to confirm my verdict. The capsule size is similar to any supplement. I have no problems swallowing these or any other capsules.Some reviewers say these capsules (and other capsules) are large – like horse pills.This is a common complaint when reading reviews of any supplement pill or capsule. Some people, it seems, have a big mental block when taking capsules or pills. If you do not have any issues along those lines, these capsules are simply normal sized capsules. If you always have an issue with taking pills, then you will continue to have that issue with these. A capsule, however, can be opened, and the powder can be placed in food, etc.

Best product ever for men’s prostrate health and ED issues.

Been taking this supplement for the last 8 years now. My urologist says keep using Doctor’s Best, because seems to be having an effect. I have been sleeping through the night the last 8 years, without having to got up and urinate. Prior to taking this supplement I typically awoke maybe 2 or 3 nights/week to urinate. My prostrate was not as bad, and my PSA is low like when I was 40. So, at least for my relatively mild condition, Doctor’s Best seems to have eliminated the night-time problem.Also only wake up once at night to use bathroom. 👍🏽 Plus my sexual desire and erections are good for 4-5 times a week or more?Plus I don’t have any other issues and turned 71 this year.

Ingredient change?

I have been taking this product for many months and had great results. The last 2 months though my condition went back to the old self. I’m not sure if the quality of the ingredients changed but something did
