I often go back-and-forth on whether to use a collagen supplement or not. There are so many contradicting opinions and I never know if it’s actually doing anything or I’m just wasting money. I’ve tried a bunch of different brands over the years with various ingredients added it in, all at different price ranges, and all with different benefit focus. I decided what I need the most has a woman in her 50s is skin hydration and elasticity along with hair growth support. I’m going to give it a go and use it daily for six months at which time I will decide if I want to continue or not.I am in fact, part of the Amazon Vine program, but I still very carefully choose which products I accept to use and review, especially when it comes to supplements and beauty. I need to know that what I’m putting in or on my body is safe, natural, and comes from a trusted source.I’ve actually ordered Doctor’s Best branded products in the past and already did the research on the brand. They manufacture in the US, use clean ingredients, have science backed formulations and perform 3rd party testing. So, I felt comfortable ordering this product from that standpoint.The ingredients in this product are specifically good for healthy skin and hair, which is what I was looking for. Other brands/types have differing or additional ingredients that are meant to support differing needs. For example, I lost 150# and then had skin removal surgery. The collagen peptide I bought then had added amino acids that support wound healing. (I also purchased Drs Best Bromaline supplements at that same time). I simply do not need those extra ingredients now so it’s not always worth it to get the most expensive product out there. What’s important is to get a product that suits your particular needs from a trusted company with good ingredients.So this product fulfill all of my needs from that standpoint. I also find it very reasonably priced in comparison to similar products.Use & taste – I really can’t stand regular water now so I already make up several water bottles a day with either electrolytes or a flavoring I like. I generally also add a half serving of unflavored protein a soluble fiber (or miralax when needed). My plan with the collagen was to add it to one of those instead of the scoop of protein or maybe simply add it to another drink I have during the day so it was important to me that it be tasteless.-it is indeed tasteless when mixed in other drinks. I have not tried it with regular water but since I will never drink it that way I didn’t feel the need.-it mixes very easily, and there is no grittiness at all. I honestly don’t have the patience for too much mixing. I just throw ice and water in a water bottle along with my ingredients and shake. That’s it.I also like that it comes in a little plastic container with a screw on lid instead of a bag as I always end up, not stealing the bags properly and making a mess. The enclosed serving scoop makes it very easy as well.Finally, it seems to be very easily digestible. The weight I lost was actually because of gastric bypass surgery. I’ve also had a couple of hernia repairs with one being a nasty one. The bypass surgery sometimes makes it a little hard for me too digest certain products, and the other surgeries have also added to my digestive issues with scar tissue and what not. So I’m happy to announce that when taking this product, I had zero digestive side effects.

Mixes better warm, but not truly flavorless
I tried this collagen powder because I wanted something easy to add to drinks, but I would not call it a completely neutral flavor. Since it is made from beef, there is a noticeable taste and smell, especially if it is mixed into plain water or something mild. I had better results using it in coffee or other warm drinks where the flavor is less obvious.The powder mixes decently in warm and hot liquids, although it does froth up a bit. Cold liquids were not as easy. It took more effort to blend, and the texture was not as smooth compared with using it in something warm.It is hard to say for sure whether a supplement like this is providing visible benefits, but my skin has been looking better lately. I like that it includes collagen peptides along with vitamin C and hyaluronic acid, since those ingredients make sense together for this type of product.I am rating it 4 stars because it is easy enough to use in warm drinks and the formula is appealing, but the flavor is not as neutral as expected and it does not mix as well cold. For the value, it makes sense if you plan to use it mostly in coffee, tea, or smoothies with stronger flavors.

Great brand and great supplement
Doctors Best brand has been my go-to for most of my most important supplements, like magnesium and d3+k2, as the results are always unquestionable and the quality is unwavering. I somehow never knew they made a collagen supplement or this would have been on the list as well. I have been taking a collagen supplement (several different brands) for over a year now. I originally started because of joint pains, which it did improve, but what got me hooked is the amazing improvement with my skin and hair. Nails too, but I don’t care so much about that. So I will say, a good collagen supplement will absolutely deliver results to those areas. For full disclosure – for about half of this year, I was taking a collagen supplement with verisol, which is what’s proven to work best for skin. But ever since moving away from verisol (it’s pricey), I haven’t noticed any negative change.I’ve been using this one for about three weeks, and it seems to be keeping right up with the others and all the benefits I’ve had are still going strong. This mixes easily in my coffee and I can’t taste it at all. I do use sugar and creamer as well. I haven’t had any adverse effects from this. Doctor’s Best is 100% a brand I trust and they’re always on the more affordable side, so I’ll likely stick with this collagen going forward.

It will dry your skin
It works probably too much. The hydraulic acid in it, dried my skin severe. I’m not a dry skin. I used less than recommended portion. I used it everyday with my juice. My friend tried it and she told me her hands and feet were dried.
