I opened one of the amber-colored softgels to inspect the contents since fish oil quality in gel capsules is a known issue. The liquid inside had a fresh, neutral smell and taste, which was reassuring. My usual fish oil has a much clearer color, so I investigated and found the use of added amber color and antioxidants in the capsule formulation; all good. Furthermore, I found that this product uses triglyceride-form fish oil and provides a strong 1500 mg combined EPA/DHA dose in a single serving. I have not experienced any digestive issues.I have used fish oil for many years since the 90s when low fat diet recommendations had every joint in my body aching because I didn’t know I needed good fats like fish oil. I feel great now, in my 70s, and I highly recommend a quality fish oil supplement like this Designs for Sport product.

No Fishy Aftertaste
This is one of the few brand I’ve had that truly doesn’t have a fishy aftertaste in the pill. Many claim theirs does not, but hardly anyone ever actually succeeds. With that being said, this pill is very very large. If you have trouble with larger pills, this will be a struggle, and there is no way to cut it in half. Other than that, this is an easy way to get 1500mg while also having none of the side-effects that normally come with the oil.I’ve been taking fish oil for a good while, so I don’t notice any real differences other than I really enjoy the product. It would be nice if there were a larger bottle (90 day supply), but this works just as well!

No fishy burps!
This is a good quality fish oil from a reputable company (Designs for Health) and I was pretty satisfied with it overall. The amount of fish oil/omega 3 oils my doctor wants me to take is higher than the recommended dosage on the bottle (2 pills) but I was able to meet it by taking three pills daily. The pill size was comparable to other fish oil pills, see my photo for an indication of the size. The small pills in the photo are little vitamin D pills, for reference. I didn’t notice any egregious fishy burps, so I’d call it largely tasteless in my opinion. I take fish oils daily for reduction of inflammation and didn’t notice any increased inflammation symptoms while I was taking them, so I will call that a good sign of their effectiveness.

It is not easy to find a reliable omega 3 supplement with so much EPA and DHA (especially DHA). It says there is 800 mg of each in the daily two soft gels. I noticed the listing said it had 750 mg each. That will need to be fixed.I was surprised that this came in a glass bottle. I was expecting the cheap plastic like many other products. It really gives this a premium feel. The pill is a little larger (but not wider) than other fish oil soft gels. I didn’t find any issues with swallowing it though. I also didn’t experience any fishy aftertaste.I will admit that this product is quite expensive, but it is NSF certified and has no issues that often plague fish oil supplements. If you are looking for a quality premium supplement and don’t mind paying a little extra, this is for you.

Quality Omega 3 fish oil
I’ve been using this Omega 3 HI-PO, and the main draw for me was the high concentration of EPA and DHA (750mg of each per serving). It’s in the triglyceride form, which is generally preferred, and I was relieved to find that it really doesn’t have a fishy aftertaste or cause those annoying “fish burps” that happen with cheaper brands.However, the price is a significant factor. At $48 for a one-month supply, it’s definitely on the expensive side compared to other fish oils I’ve tried. While the quality and the lack of aftertaste are great, you are certainly paying a premium for those benefits. It’s a solid choice if you want a high-potency supplement and don’t mind the cost, but for many, the price might be hard to justify for a monthly refill.
