Designs for Health EssentiaGreens and Reds Superfoods Vegan Powder (30 Servings, Chocolate)

Dissolves just fine in cold, filtered water using a handheld milk frother from Daiso, but it tastes awful! It tastes like someone threw a bunch of vegetable powder and some cacao nibs (unsweetened) into a blender.Chocolate was a poor choice, they should have paired it with a flavor that compliments the ingredients.Either something umami/savory, or something sweet (fruity), not bland cacao.Like, would you sprinkle unsweetened chocolate over your salad (Carrot, Kale, Tomato, Parsley, Spirulina, Nettle, Broccoli, Cauliflower)?Because those listed ingredients are just some of what’s in this, in powdered form.If the thought of putting even sweet chocolate on your green veggies sounds appealing, then go for it, but this is a no from me dawg.

Pleasant tasting way to get your micro greens. Tastes pretty good with just water.

I’ve tried a lot of greens powders over the years. Some taste like regret, and others are full of too much stevia or mystery fillers, but this one is honestly a standout. It tastes surprisingly good. It has a smooth, cocoa-forward flavor that is not too sweet or bitter, which is rare in the greens world. I’m usually not a fan of stevia. Most products overdo it or leave that weird aftertaste, but this drink hits a really nice balance. There’s a mild, natural-tasting sweetness that comes through without being overly sugary or artificial, which makes it feel like an actual treat.I started out mixing it with water, and even that was decent. But my current go-to is half water, half iced coffee. It turns into a chocolatey morning mocha shake that is now firmly a part of my daily routine. Just a heads-up: it does not mix well with a spoon or fork. I tried, and the result was clumpy and sad. Once I switched to using my immersion blender, it turned creamy smooth and way more enjoyable. A protein shaker would probably also give better results than stirring.Ingredient-wise, it is packed with the good stuff: spirulina, chlorella, kale, red fruits, antioxidants, prebiotics, and digestive enzymes. It is also vegan, if that is important to you. It feels more like a clinical, functional supplement than a trendy wellness powder, and I have noticed improvements in digestion and less bloating since I started using it. Overall, it is one of the few greens powders I have actually looked forward to drinking.

Does not mix well unless using a blender…

This container has a total of 8.4 oz (240 g) of chocolate flavor superfood blend, when reading the supplement facts we find an organic fruit and fiber blend, vegetable and greens blend, and a grape blend. The recommended use is one scoop (included) with water per day. For some reason, no matter the product and or price, the powder does not mix well with water or milk, I always have to use the blender to get it mixed very well. The flavor is not the best and this must be the stevia, but I like knowing that I am including some great ingredients to start my day, such as: organic blueberry, organic cranberry, organic raspberry, organic carrot, organic kale, organic parsley, etc…

    Blends well! Chocolatey and nutritious

This greens powder was an easy yes for me! Firstly, I already liked and trusted this brand. Secondly, the quality of this greens powder in addition to taste and how well it blends was a win. Easy on the gut. Good with just water or mixed into my protein drink. I will say the chocolate taste is on the stronger side; something to take into consideration if combining with other flavors.

    Delish! Just so expensive 😞

Fantastic taste! I mix it with my protein shake in the morning. My kids love it too!I just wish it wasn’t so expensive! And its even more than their kiwi flavor, but why? I’d buy it weekly if it wasn’t so much.

5 stars mixed with milk, 1 star mixed with water5 stars mixed with milk, 1 star mixed with water

The 5 star review comes with a caveat, if you blend with milk, or milk and a banana, 5 stars. If you blend it with water (according to the instructions on the packaging), then 1 star.Blended with water, I could not drink it, it was pretty awful. I gave it to my husband (his favorite food is broccoli), he likes healthy tasting drinks, he will drink things I wouldn’t go near, I thought he might even like it.He tried it. Made a face. And said “no”. He could not drink it either, if he thinks it tastes bad, then it’s really bad. He thought it had a metallic taste. I don’t know what the flavor was, I just know I didn’t want that in my mouth again, ever.I was willing to give it another chance, I thought maybe mixed with milk, it might be okay enough to be drinkable. The bar was set low. Instead of a full scoop, I tried 1/2 a scoop and about 3/4 of a serving of milk. I mixed it until frothy, and braced myself.I drank some. It was….good. Seriously. I’ve never had a drink that bad that was transformed into something really good by swapping out milk for water. It even looked better, just like a milkshake.I brought the glass over to my husband, he took it and hesitated before drinking. I promised him it wasn’t bad. Then he took a really small sip, then he took a much bigger one. He liked it, thought it tasted good. But it didn’t rise to the level of delicious for him. He’d drink it again if I made it for him. He suggested mixing it with banana, which is what I had said 2 minutes earlier making the video in the kitchen (he was out of earshot). Yes, a banana seemed like the perfect addition.Banana, mik, chocolate greens and reds–that is a good tasting drink. I drank it an hour ago and I feel good. It settled nicely in my stomach. I feel relaxed. I was feeling uncomfortable before, agitated and my stomach was a little upset. After drinking the red and greens, my stomach settled and I just feel…good. I’m even thinking clearer. If a “milkshake” can make me feel better and amp up my cognition, then I will be buying it again, signing up for autoship. This is life changing stuff.Update:When filming the review, I said it was good, but I didn’t think it was delicious. I’ve been thinking about that and I’d like to revise my statement. I actually do think it’s delicious. If I had made a larger portion, I would have finished it. I’ve been craving it and looking forward to a glass all morning.

I am not a fan due to aftertaste for meI am not a fan due to aftertaste for me

I think his is a good quality product with a good mix of ingredients. However, I get an aftertaste with the sweetener that I don’t like so I wouldn’t get again. If you don’t taste that, then you may like it_ There are approximately 30 scoops in the canister.

Great Organic Ingredients But Mixing is ChallengingGreat Organic Ingredients But Mixing is Challenging

I really appreciate the quality of organic ingredients in this superfood powder – having spirulina, kale, and a comprehensive blend of fruits and vegetables in one supplement is exactly what I was looking for. The chocolate flavor was a smart choice because it helps mask the varied taste of all the different fruits and veggies, making it much more palatable than it would be otherwise. However, I have to dock a star because this powder is very difficult to mix properly in water, which is how we intended to use it. Even with intense mixing and stirring, there were still chunks remaining that wouldn’t dissolve completely. This made the texture less than ideal and created an uneven drinking experience. For a product that’s supposed to be convenient and easy to use, having mixing issues is frustrating. The taste itself is fine once you get past the texture problems. The chocolate flavor does a good job of balancing out what could otherwise be an overwhelming veggie taste from all the greens. You can definitely tell you’re drinking something packed with nutrients, but it’s not unpleasant.I really value that this uses organic ingredients and comes from Designs for Health, which is a reputable brand in the functional medicine space. The 17+ powerhouse ingredients provide comprehensive nutrition that’s hard to get from diet alone, and I appreciate that it’s vegan and free from common allergens. If they could improve the mixability to eliminate the chunky texture, this would easily be a 5-star product. The nutrition profile is excellent, but the user experience needs work for mixing with water.
