Kelp supplement provides iodine for 300 days (with update)
This supplement is a good deal. The dosage is one per day with food. Kelp is a natural food source of iodine, and I am more comfortable taking the concentrated food form rather than the pure element form. Sea vegetables are known for iodine content.I’ve noticed increased energy since taking this supplement coupled with low fat meats. Forgoing meat for 2 years, I noticed a decline in energy levels. I discovered a diet related to eating right for your blood type. As O blood type, I read that healthy meats are recommended for O’s and that only blood type A are advised to cut them out. I also read that O types experience low energy because of tendencies in low metabolism related to insufficient iodine intake.I’m not sure if this diet is one of the many fads, but I’m trying it anyway. The iodine has made a noticeable difference. This reasonably priced product will last well into next year.***Update 10/18/12: I’ve gone back to my plant-based diet. No more meat, and I’m doing better than ever. Still taking this supplement. It’s the best, most affordable source of iodine I’ve found.***

Finally, back to normal!
This brand is a life saver. I was previously using Swansons Kelp from the Atlantic and it gave me terrible headaches. I’m not sure if the headaches were caused by the bromide detox it naturally does when taking iodine but either way the headaches were too much to bear with that brand. Norwegian does not give me headaches, I’m on my 2nd day and with the other brand I already would have had a migraine. This is the first day I have woken up without cold hands and feet. I started to take these after 2 years of research as to why I was feeling foggy and sluggish 3-5 days a week. I previously had malaria in 2013 and have not been the same since. These kelp tablets are the only thing that gets me feeling back to normal. I even have increased energy, I probably wouldn’t even need to drink my morning coffee.I see that other people take more than 1 a day but I just take 1 so not to get too much iodine into my system. I have read that any type of severe medical trauma can cause your thyroid to become sluggish or out of whack and these tablets are the only things to have helped. B-Complex has also helped me a little bit but I feel like kelp has really made all the difference.I’m very pleased, I’ll update if I start to get headaches or any other bad side effects.

Supplements are the most difficult items to review. What works for one person may not work for another. For me, I’m always on a quest for better health. After reading some things about iodine deficiency I thought I’d give it a try. My plan with supplements is to give them a 3 month trial period to see if there is any change, positive or negative and then decide if I’m going to keep using them. I opted for the natural plant based kelp supplement because it sounded like it was the safest way to go. Iodine can be a problem with some people and getting too much can be a serious concern. I went with a conservative approach. I looked into Country Life and found very little about the company and almost nothing about their Norwegian Kelp supplement. They apparently don’t market themselves very well. Even though I’ve never heard of them I went by the reviews here and picked up a bottle. You’ve got to admit the price is very good. So far the Kelp has been side effect free except for some acne that has occurred. This I can deal with so it’s good. I’ve seen no benefits but I’m not ailing from anything right now, my BMI is normal and I have good energy. It’s all a balancing act. Because there are 300 count in this jar I’m going to keep taking them and see what happens. Sorry this review isn’t an exciting transformation from the brink of death but I needed to be honest.

These are great. It’s a long story, but I became hypothyroid due to an iodine deficiency–seriously, no lie. So I needed an iodine supplement and I chose these–there was nothing my doctor could recommend since she had never recognized an iodine deficiency as the cause of hypothyroidism, before, and there simply isn’t a prescription medication available for it.It’s all because I pushed back and made her prove it was Hoshimoto’s disease. The test results blew her away–I didn’t have Hoshimoto’s disease causing my hypothyroidism after all–so therefore, she agreed it must be iodine deficiency. I started taking the Country Life Norwegian Kelp 225 mcg. twice a day (you may not need this much and one a day should work for most people–but I was depleted) and the results were immediate–seriously, the same day, and may lightening strike me if I’m lying!Suddenly I could sleep, think, feel better, improved tolerance to cold. I thought I was just getting old and these problems were a result. OMG the list goes on and on.Now, any good iodine source could do this, but why I chose Country Life Norwegian Kelp? is that their manufacturing is inspected by a 3rd party, so I’m pretty sure I’m getting what they say I’m getting–It must be, because the results are incredible! And, the price is pretty good too–yes, I admit, I’m cheap. I have already recommended to friends. This is worth trying if you are concerned about the amount of iodine in your diet. Will be buying more when I run out.

2 years ago I noticed a lump in my left breast and started to look online about all types of cancer. During my “research” I came across several articles about Japanese woman having the lowest breast cancer rate in the world due to high iodine intakes through seaweed. I started buying seaweed flakes and added them to my salads. It made my office smell pretty bad! So, I found these kelp tablets and started taking 2 each morning, by skipping some days here and there. I have to also say that I workout every day, have an ideal weight and that I eat very healthy. I started eating a lot more wild caught salmon. However, I cut-down my sugar intake by using mainly stevia, honey or maple syrup. Sugar feeds cancer, I heard. Now, 2 years later I don’t feel a lump anymore! My metabolism works great, I feel great and I truly believe it has a lot to do with this iodine supplement.

I bought this product because I noticed my metabolism slowing down as I get older and I figured with age your thyroid just doesn’t work the way it once did. Also Ever since I hit mid 30’s I noticed I would have a bit less energy. I usually work out 6 days of week 1-2 hours and after 36 it was 1 hour a day 4-5 times a week. I used to get up at the crack of dawn, and then I started getting more tired and sleeping in later. I never put two and two together. Just really noticed I couldn’t eat as much as I used to, but still get the same amount of hungry. This sucks 🙁 So I thought of getting something to help with my metabolism/thyroid and see if it helps. So I tried a few different kelp products which did nothing. Then I read a review to take Selenium with kelp. After the first week of taking this with Selenium. I was naturally waking up at 6 AM again, like I used to. My workouts seemed more energetic, and I got less tired. I have so much more energy and feel to much better. Although I did not really lose any weight, It seems I can eat like I used to eat without gaining weight. Usually if I ate like I (used to) I would gain a pound or two, and would have to really have to watch my diet for a few days to get back down again. I don’t like that, since I have a huge appetite. I LOVE THIS! Feel like I am in my early 30’s again, and not my early 40’s that I am now.
