Got this to combat fatigue low iron, B12 & B6, & heteorzygous MTHFR mutation – works great!

I was having a lot of fatigue and tiredness, and my last labs showed low iron, low B12, and low B6 – but not low enough to go on a prescription med regimen. I’ve had to have iron infusions in the past for iron-deficiency anemia and poor absorption, so I take this very seriously. I looked for a product that would absorb gently, as my digestive system does not always react well to iron. Carbonyl iron seemed to fit the bill, as your body will only absorb the amount that is needed. I really appreciate that this is formulated with B vitamins for energy, and that they are in the forms that are recommended for MTHFR folks, as I am heterozygous for that mutation. I needed the B vitamins anyways, so that’s one less pill to take!I have trouble swallowing pills, so I appreciated the small, bullet-shaped form factor, and found it quite easy to swallow – unlike some other iron pills I had tried. In addition, it’s a capsule rather than a tablet, which is good for absorbability.I did find it was best to take this pill after eating, as there was some nausea after taking it on an empty stomach. However, be careful what you have eaten, as it could interfere with absorption. Vitamin C-containing products help with absorption, but oxalates (i.e. spinach, potatotes, nuts), dairy products and anything with calcium will cause the iron to be less absorbable. This formulation is inexpensive, and within a few weeks I noticed my energy levels started to improve. I’m not tired anymore! I haven’t yet had a blood test since starting to take this, but I expect I will find better numbers. I highly recommend this product for those in my circumstances.

    Not bad at all!

I purchased these last month after my Hematologist recommended I try otc versus continuing iron infusions! The reviews had me a bit hesitant but I wanted to go ahead and start so I gave them a try they really are not bad at all! The taste is ok it wasn’t too tangy for me the after taste wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worst either! Definitely recommend trying if u need to get ur iron levels up!

    Tasty and effective

These are tasty. I have a hard time swallowing pills and I found that traditional iron pills gave me heartburn. I have both anemia and acid reflux. One thing to be careful of is humidity though. They come with one of those desiccant packets and cotton ball but I live in a very high humidity area so about half way through a bottle, I need to put a new cotton ball in. They are much tastier and give less iron aftertaste if they are fully dry. I’ve also had trouble with other iron supplements because I also had to take Vitamin C to increase absorption. But these are great because the included Vitamin C has made taking iron daily more effective. I give plasma about twice a month but I couldn’t do that before taking these because my red blood cell count was frequently too low.

    Didn’t cause constipation

I have tried so many brands and the only one I found that didn’t cause constipation was called Ferrostat and Amazon stopped carrying it and I could not find it anywhere. This NutriPure had the same type of iron so I ordered it and I am happy to report that this one did not cause constipation either. My doctor told me that “all iron supplements cause constipation” so I am currently taking it every other day. I am 72 years old and never had a problem with my iron until 5 years ago when I found out my Ferritin was down to 25 and boy could I tell. I walk 3-4 miles every day and my legs felt weak even though 25 was in the low range of normal. Since then I have read that keeping Ferritin between 60-100 is a better range for those of us with iron deficiency without anemia. Be cautious about taking turmeric/curcumin as I found out it can prevent absorption of iron and I believe that is what initially caused my low ferritin. I was taking a fairly high dose supplement and had to stop.

    Great for iron deficiency

Great taste and a little tart. Helps keep my iron levels where they should be without all the side effects. I’m extremely anemic and this is essential for me.

    They work!!

Had my first blood draw since taking this(only a month being on them) my iron levels have already increased. I have tried EVERY type of iron and I just can’t swallow pills anymore. I see a lot of reviews on here about the taste and how you have to spit out. I find some of them to be just a little dramatic. They are a little sour almost like candy. I chew them and flush with some water and then it’s perfectly fine. No aftertaste no burping up bacon(I’ve genuinely tried them all lol) these are the first pills that are actually showing improvement and I’ve been anemic since birth. Im so grateful honestly

Weird after taste stayed for hoursWeird after taste stayed for hours

Couldn’t get the nasty after taste of of my throat because I chewed the pill. It had a phosphorus match taste. It was weird and the taste stayed for hours, nothing I drank would make the after taste go away. I kept the pills and now just swallow them with water and no issues. Didn’t constipate me either.

    Inedible tablets!Inedible tablets!

These tasted pretty bad to begin with but then, about a week after opening, I took one that was super disgusting/inedible! I realized it was a different color. I realized that half of them had either always been black or turned black somehow….
