Great Taste and Clean Ingredients
This chocolate protein powder tastes great, which is one of the most important things to me with any protein supplement. It is plant-based, low carb, has no added sugar, and uses a relatively simple list of organic ingredients. Note: Contains Stevia. It provides 16 grams of protein per serving along with 18 amino acids. I normally prefer slightly more protein per serving, but I also understand that this is formulated as a bariatric protein powder where keeping calories and carbs down is important. Comparatively to other protein powder you are paying a premium, but much of that premium appears to be for the quality and simplicity of the ingredients. Most importantly, it tastes really good and that is important if you are trying to watch what you eat and want something tasty each morning.

Surprisingly Good Flavor and Mixes Very Easily
I am usually not a fan of stevia, but it isn’t overpowering here, which was a pleasant surprise for me. You can tell it is there, but I didn’t find the sweetness or aftertaste nearly as distracting as I have with some other protein powders.One thing to keep in mind is that this powder is VERY fine and powdery. Be a little careful when opening the bag or scooping it because you definitely don’t want to inhale a cloud of it. I made that mistake the first time!I also accidentally did things backwards when making my first shake. I added the powder to my shaker cup first and then poured in the water. I expected that to cause clumping, but I had ZERO issues. After shaking it, everything mixed together very well with no weird dry clumps stuck at the bottom of the cup.As far as taste goes, it is pretty much what I would expect from a plant-based chocolate protein powder. No, it doesn’t taste like a rich chocolate milkshake, but I don’t think that’s really the point. Considering the nutritional value and the 16g of protein per serving, I think the taste is perfectly acceptable and actually better than I was expecting.For me, this is an easy way to add some extra protein to my diet without a lot of hassle. It mixes easily, the stevia flavor isn’t overwhelming, and the chocolate flavor is definitely drinkable. I will absolutely be adding this into my regular diet for the extra protein.

I haven’t specifically had bariatric surgery but I imagine people that have would be looking for similar things in their nutrition as someone taking close care of their health.It’s important to focus on macros when dealing with weight loss and building muscles. 16 grams of protein for 100 calories is pretty decent and on the upper end for foodstuffs. I typically take two servings to get 30+ grams.Since this product uses rice protein as the source and main ingredient, comparing it to the typical whey/dairy based protein powders, it’s not as good for building muscle since it’s lower in certain essential proteins.For it mixes decently well. I use a shaker, it does foam up a bit. Using the recommended 10 oz of water makes it a bit too watery in my opinion. I would use 8 oz instead. The taste is not the best. There is a noticeable artificial sweetener tasting stevia as well as the rice protein itself. The texture is a bit gritty compared to milk protein powders.Overall, I think this is a good option protein powder for those watching their weight and wanting to maintain some muscle. The macros are very decent and compete with clear proteins. It’s also great for vegans since it doesn’t contain animal products.

This protein powder is usable, but the flavor and texture were not a great fit for me.The chocolate flavor is okay, but it is much sweeter than I prefer. The stevia comes through very strongly and gives the drink an odd combination of sweetness and bitterness. I think the flavor would be much more enjoyable if the sweetener were significantly reduced.The texture is also not especially smooth. Even when mixed well, it still has that unmistakable protein-shake texture rather than a creamy drink consistency.I like the idea of a plant-based protein powder with no added sugar, but the taste and mouthfeel keep this from being something I would look forward to drinking regularly.

This review is for BioSchwartz Bariatric Protein in chocolate, and it is so good. I ignore any warning label from California, so I am not even concerned. I am lactose intolerant, and thankfully this protein source is made from organic brown rice. It has 18 essential amino acids. It is also made without a majority of allergens for most people, including myself.The amino acids are critical for pre- and post-gastric procedures. There is no sugar added, and it works great in my coffee in the morning. It can be a little gritty, but I haven’t had a protein powder that hasn’t been gritty before. If you are in need of bariatric protein, this brand seems to be an excellent protein source. Especially since it’s free of so many allergens. I feel the asking price is good considering the quality you will receive.
