Soothed the tickling in my throat, and has a nice taste

This product arrived at an opportune time. I’ve had a lingering cough following a cold, and although the coughing has run its course, I still have some postnasal drip and consequent tickly throat.Minutes after it arrived on my doorstep, I tore open the package and opened the little box. The bottle has a spray mechanism that must be attached, which took all of two seconds. The directions say to spray it twice into the back of the throat, which I did. I was rewarded with a pleasant taste and a sense that it was doing something. Not sure what, but my throat tickle went away, at least temporarily.The sales page says it’s “formulated with fresh, organic Echinacea purpurea and sage to help support immune function and calm throat discomfort.”I did some quick research to see if there’s support for this. I learned that echinacea was used for centuries, including in Native American traditional medicine, to treat various ailments. It’s widely promoted today to prevent or reduce the severity of colds and upper respiratory infections.Some studies do back up its ability to stimulate immune function, though results vary. Used in a spray (like this one), echinacea’s anti-inflammatory and mild antimicrobial properties may help reduce irritation or swelling in the throat—just what I needed. One thing I noticed was a mild numbing effect. I wasn’t imagining it: My research confirmed that echinacea preparations are known to cause a tingling or numbing sensation.I find it interesting that this spray uses extracts from both the aerial parts of the echinacea plant (i.e., leaves, stems, flowers) and from the roots. Apparently different parts of the plant contain varying concentrations of active compounds, so using both is a way of hedging bets, I guess.Sage, too, is another traditional herbal remedy with a long history of use for throat and mouth issues. Among other properties, sage has a drying effect on mucous membranes, which may reduce excess mucus or irritation in the throat, contributing to the soothing sensation. My guess is it’s the sage that’s responsible for the nice taste of this spray.This seems to be a company with a good reputation. Its use of organic ingredients suggests a care to deliver a clean product. I like the spray and will continue using it for the time being. I would describe it as a mild but pleasant item to use as an adjunct to treating a cold or its after-effects. I give it 5 stars.

Convenient Extended Nozzle

I have allergies and need to prevent my throat from getting irritated so usually stock up on vitamin C and herbal teas, drops and sprays before the holidays. I also sing in several groups and need to take care of throat before and after hours of rehearsal.I ordered a 1 fl oz Spray Bottle with Targeted Nozzle, of Natural Organic Echinacea Plant & Sage Soothing Throat Spray from the A. Vogel Store. I have been using Echinacea for years. Echinacea acts as a natural inflammatory and supports immune function. Sage has also been used as a traditional herbal remedy for throat and mouth issues. I read that Sage can help mucous membranes to reduce excess mucus thus soothing the irritation in my throat. This is a convenient spray and the extended nozzle makes it easy to target where it burns. I will use this spray when I begin to feel a tickle in my throat. Hopefully I can prevent it from turning into a sore throat or cough. With help from Echinacea’s anti-inflammatory and mild antimicrobial properties, I can reduce my chances of getting a cold. One spray feels good on my throat and the taste isn’t bad. The spray gives me a numbing sensation which helps with a sore throat. The packaging arrived smashed and a bit dripped out but it is a new bottle with a year before it expires. I like this spray and will use it all and rate Echinacea and Sage Throat Spray by A. Vogel with 5 stars.
