Astaxanthin at a high dose per capsule
This appears to be a decent supplements providing 12mg of Astaxanthin/single capsule. It is in an oil base, which is key for proper absorption in the body, so another thumbs up for this supplement. However … in the images on this page, some of the labels say “AstaReal” which is a trademarked extract that has been tested, but my bottles do NOT say that. So, are they simply algae extract, or are they the tested product? There is no way for me to know, and this is unfortunate for something I am ingesting.I am going with the benefit of the doubt with this company, and am continuing to take it, as I have had positive effects from using astaxanthin. This price point of 30.97 is very reasonable for two bottles.

Astaxanthin Softgels derived from microalgae arrived securely packaged in a box, and the bottle inside was double safety sealed. There was also cotton padding inside the bottle to help protect the softgels during shipping, which is always a reassuring touch. Expiration date is 11/2028The bottle contains 60 softgels, providing a 2-month supply at the stated serving size. The softgels themselves are small, easy to swallow, and have no noticeable taste or odor. They are also gentle on the stomach, which makes daily use easy and convenient.This appears to be a good value for the quality, and I appreciate that it is made in the USA and labeled as non-GMO, which are both factors I personally look for in a supplement.Astaxanthin is a carotenoid antioxidant that has been studied for a range of potential benefits, including skin hydration, antioxidant support, and eye health. Not my favorite astaxanthin
I’ve taken astaxanthin from other brands off and on over the past couple years, and I’m somewhat disappointed in this version by Wellpath.The bottle is way oversized for the volume of capsules it contains (see my photo), which is wasteful of the plastic used to manufacture it as well as taking up unnecessary extra space in transport and storage. The Amazon product listing shows a box with a made-in-the-USA icon at the upper right, but the sample I received had no box and no American flag icon on the bottle, which doesn’t inspire confidence.Even though the weather’s been cool, the capsules were stuck together at the bottom of the bottle, and I had to dig them out with a wooden spoon. Another thing I don’t like is how hard it is to read the information on the label because of its white lettering against a low-contrast colored ground (I heightened the contrast to enhance legibility in my photos here).I’m also not a fan of the sunflower seed oil this supplement contains. The expiration date stamped on the bottom of the bottle is 11/2028, which I’m guessing is 2.5-3 years out from the date of manufacture, more than enough time for the oil to have gone rancid.All in all, I think you can do better than this with another brand’s astaxanthin supplement.
