I Think –
Lots of aloe in each can, very light flavor; each can comes with a spoon
WHAT YOU GET:In this purchase are 12 cans of Amy & Brian brand Aloe Vera Bites in pear juice. The cans are about 3 inches tall and 2 inches in diameter. They come wrapped in a cardboard tray. Each can has its own plastic lid snapped on the top, and each lid contains a plastic spoon that can be taken off and used to eat the bites. The spoons need to be unfolded – the handles snaps in place. Under the lid, there is a pull tab to open the can. The cans can stack both with and without the plastic lid. My cans have best before dates of January 16, 2027.QUALITY:In my 12 pack, I had 4 cans that were dented, and one damaged plastic lid. These things did not impact the taste at all. None of the cans leaked. One of my cans had the label upside down – not a big deal. The aloe bites fill the cans to the top, and so does the pear juice.SIZE/TEXTURE:The aloe bits measure around 1cm squared. Some are slightly larger or smaller. They are a bit gelatinous and slippery, sometimes a little slimy. They are harder than gelatin. They almost have the hardness of a pear, actually.TASTE:The juice tastes faintly like pear. It’s a really light flavor. The aloe bites absorb a little of the pear flavor, but they do have an aloe vera taste to them as well. As a whole it’s a light, natural flavor. It’s not sweet. To people who haven’t had aloe before, it can be an acquired taste, but it’s also a very subtle flavor.CONSIDERATIONS:I prefer these aloe bites cold rather than room temperature. I tried freezing some of them by separating the bites on the bottom of a container. They taste pretty good frozen too! You can suck on them like small ice cubes, which is great during the hot Summer months. And while frozen, they can act as ice cubes if you want to add them to a drink. They would probably taste best in something fruit based. They’re nice for camping, after a workout, or just enjoying at home.MY OPINION:I don’t like the pear juice much, but it’s not too bad. The flavor is good, but it’s just weak and watery. It does lend a little flavor to the aloe cubes. I’m not the biggest fan of either the pear juice or cubes by themselves, but adding them to fruit juice (something with more flavor and sweetness) helps. I like to imitate the aloe drinks I buy at the grocery. I think it tastes best this way.The current price of $35.88 is high for me. It would come out to $3 per can. There is quite a bit of aloe in each can, so maybe it’s worth it to some people. You really would need to like aloe if you were to order this.

Healthy snack, but not particularly tasty. 3.5 stars
I first tried an aloe vera drink when I vacationed in Japan several years ago. At the time, I didn’t realize you could consume aloe vera and thought it was a bit strange. However, I found the Japanese version to be delicious but unfortunately haven’t had a chance to try a variation of that drink since. So, I was interested in trying this out to compare my original memory of an aloe vera drink. This case includes 12 nearly 9-ounce cans that are sealed with a metal top but also have a plastic top for sealing after opening, which cleverly has a small spoon tucked inside. A few cans were dented, which is minor, but does concern me that they could leak so the quality of the protection of the cans is a bit lackluster. Fortunately, none of mine leaked. The instructions indicate it is recommended to eat these within 3 days of opening. This should be refrigerated if you don’t eat the can in one sitting. Three basic ingredients, pear juice, aloe vera and citric acid. No sugar included which for some can be good or bad. My aloe vera bites had an expiration date of January 2027. These are made in Thailand.I will be first to admit, I am not a fan of pears or pear juice and aloe vera has basically no taste, but I was willing to give this a chance. The aloe vera was as I expected with little flavor at all and the pear juice tasted natural and not very sweet at all, but also not with much flavor either to me at least. I personally was not a fan of the flavor, but my wife likes it. I personally think it could use a little sweetener, but my wife likes that it is sugar free. Minus the dented cans, the quality of the food seems to be ok and fresh. For those that like pear flavor and want a light snack at 25 calories, then this my fill the bill. For me, I am not particularly a fan and give it 3 stars as I prefer the Japanese version. The wife says 4. So, for us, 3.5.3.5 stars

Pear Mostly Neutral/Mildly Sweet -Best Tasting Aloe Vera I’ve Tried
The pear juice gives a bit of a fruity pear flavor, since the aloe vera doesn’t have much taste. The pieces are very bite sized, with several fitting easily on even the included spoon. The texture reminds me of canned pears, firm and not mushy. Great snack with only 50 calories for a full tin (2 servings). More filling than I expected. These are considerably easier and tastier than when I harvest from my larger aloe vera plant. Trimming off the skin of a leaf is tricky. The slime makes a leaf slippery to hold while trimming, in addition to the slime being very bitter. I hear aloe vera is very nutritious, and I like how these tins don’t have any of the bitter slime my homemade bites tend to get no matter how much I rinse.I really like the tins, with a built-in spoon. The cap works well, along with the pull-top. The product isn’t particularly sweet, but it is great that there are only three ingredients without added sugar. This is a more filling snack, with good aloe vera and without the empty calories.

High quality aloe chunks
High-quality chunks of aloe. They’re firm, clear, almost gelatin-like. Not cloudy or milky from being over-processed. While the pear juice doesn’t do much to mask their earthy, plant-like flavor, it does help with aroma. I’ve been draining these and adding the chunks to drinks, smoothies, and even Jell-o molds. The quality is definitely there, though you’re paying a premium for the convenient individual packaging and anything vegan and gluten/BPA-free.

Technically edible but not a fan of it
I was curious to try the combination of canned pears and aloe vera but it wasn’t for me. The pears themselves were fine but the aloe vera has a very distinct flavor that overpowers the fruit and gives the whole thing an off-putting taste. The aloe also has a slippery gel-like texture that didn’t pair well with the soft pears. Between the unusual flavor and the texture I found it difficult to enjoy. If you’re already a fan of aloe vera you may appreciate it but if you’re expecting a typical canned fruit cup this will likely be a disappointing surprise.

Not the snack for meNot the snack for me
These Aloe Vera Bites with pear juice are promoted as being a great snack, but I did not find them so. The small cubes of aloe vera gel are fairly solid and have a texture slightly similar to pears. They seem to have no flavor of their own, as the only flavors I taste are from the pear juice and a metallic aftertaste from the can. I don’t find them pleasant to eat, and I would not choose them as a snack. There should also be a caution to be careful if you’re allergic to anything in the lily family like onions or tulips and also that they may have a laxative effect for some people, so start slowly.

Amy & Brian Aloe Vera BitesAmy & Brian Aloe Vera Bites
These little bite sized chunks of Aloe Vera is another option for the way I can enjoy Aloe Vera without having to drink the bottled juice. This is a 12 pack of 8.8 oz pull tab cans which offer 2 servings per can. Each can has a foldable plastic spoon attached under the plastic lid. The lid has cutouts around the perimeter so I advise transferring any unused portions to a sealable container when storing to avoid spillage. The little gel cubes in pear juice have a very mild pear flavor to the point that it’s almost unnoticeable. This product from Thailand is vegan, gluten free and has no artificial coloring or added sugars. I like to chill the can before consuming.
