I ordered this fish oil softgels to supplement my skin improvement prescription as my doctor recommended. I see the gradual skin improvement as expected. This comes with two large bags of 240 softgels each. The softgels are easy to swallow. The main ingredient is sustainably sourced oil from wild-caught Norwegian fish. The softgels are made of gelatin, with the addition of glycerin and natural lemon oil. The lemon oil gives the softgels a barely noticeable lemon peel scent and faintly bitter taste, but you are supposed to swallow them, not chew or suck on them, so it doesn’t matter. Supposedly, the lemon oil is intended to cover up the fish smell when burping. I didn’t have that side effect, so can’t comment on it.The suggested dose is three softgels daily. This dose would provide you with 4200 mg of fish oil, containing 2290 mg total of Omega-3 fatty acids, 900 of them DHA and 1200 EPA. That is slightly more than a small 7-8 oz serving of wild-caught salmon, and noticeably higher than usually recommended daily dose of 250-500 mg. Since I eat fish regularly, I decided that supplementing with one or two softgels on the days when I don’t would be enough for me. It means that these two convenient pouches with 160 full doses would last me awhile. The shelf life of this product is three years (the poaches that I got have expiration date in May 2029). The potency of many supplements cannot be verified unless they have USP or other certification (IFOS certifies fish oils) so we can only hope the capsules are as potent as is shown on the label. This has no certification verifying its contents whatsoever. These may be from wild-caught deep see fish as indicated on the package, or they might not be.One of the first things I try with a new fish oil supplement is weighing the capsules to ensure that they weigh more than their stated weight to account for the softgel capsule. These are very close to the claimed weight but my kitchen scale only weighs in whole grams rounded. Three of these should weigh more than 4.2grams, so it’s close.The capsule is very large as would be needed for this volume of fish oil which makes swallowing 3 of them for a “serving” difficult for a senior. I can say, though, that there is no fishy aftertaste or burp or a fishy smell to them. Lemony but not fishy.They claim to be made from “wild-caught Norwegian fish” but there is nothing that I can find out about the source. Whe package states that it is distributed by a company in Orlando, FL but there is no country of origin listed on the package.While this supplement does not bear a UPC barcode I do appreciate them posting the lot number, manufacture date and date of expiry prominently on the back of the package. The brand in the Amazon listing is “AIQUISHA” but my package says “Itawel.”IF this is as potent as claimed the 2-pack of 240 softgels (480 total) being consumed at the serving size of 3 per day would last 160 days or more than 5 months so the price is fantastic. IF is one of the questions, along with country of origin and the anufacturer’s name. I personally have too many questions about the product.
